Talking Hello there from a newbie ;)

Hello everyone!

My name is Brandy, I am from Dallas, and I am just beginning my weight loss journey. I am 23 years old and finishing up my Masters in Teaching (I will be a high school history teacher next year). I graduated in 2005 with a dual BS in History and Government. I am currently a Caption Editor - basically I am the person that puts the closed captions on TV shows and movies.

Hmm, some details about me. I have been with my partner, Katie, for over 6 years. She has been very supportive of me during my weight gain. when we first got together in 2001 I weighed 175, 6 years later I tip the scales at 320. My weight gain stems from depression and poor body image mostly. I have tried many times to lose weight and have never really put forth the effort I should have.

I had a defining moment in my life this week and I just knew that it was time to grow up and move on. I am about to join a gym within the next 3 weeks (could be sooner, just depends on some other financial obligations). Joining a gym is a huge step for me and I feel it will help me stay on top of things. I am excited, the gym I am going to join is open 24 hours which is great since I work 3pm - midnight M-F. Being able to drop whatever and go whenever is really helpful.

I was very active for a very long time, I was extremely athletic as a teenager (and child) up until my last 2 years of high school (this is when I began my coming out process). My grandfather passed away a few years later and the majority of my weight gain stems from depression after that. I want to get back into shape and lose weight because I really really miss playing sports and being part of a team. I'm tired of living this life - it's to the point where I can't sit in desks and most restaurant booths, I'm embarrassed to go out into public, I find myself giving up opportunities due to my weight, I don't want to create even worse health problems for myself... ah the list goes on.

I just discovered this website and I am looking forward to getting to know you all. My goal is to eventually get down to between 150 and 170 pounds. Maybe lower but we'll see ... I'm older now and weight will fall differently on me than it did when I was 16.

I am working on a website that I hope to get up and running soon for my own personal benefit - mainly to help me track what I'm doing, etc. Once I get it going I'll be sure to add it into my siggy.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know anything else about me (favorite tv shows, movies, music, etc or if you are just bored please feel free to hit me up!)

Welcome, I started my final weight loss journey in January. It has finally got into my head to eat healthy and exercise is the only way to lose weight. I cannot and don't want to revert to my old eating habits. It actually has become automatic to eat healthy. I wish you luck in your weight loss goals.
