So I thought perfect! I am all good as my carb count was so low at that point of the day. Well this morning, I am up to 189.4, how upsetting. Wondering if just that bar had that effect?
The amount of fiber in Quest bars always tends to bloat me. If I am going to eat them, I try to stick to 1-2 per week and usually at the very beginning of my weigh in cycle (i.e. - I weigh on Sat, so I will not eat a Quest bar past Tues, so it has at least 3 full days to move through my system).

Has anyone ever tried ketones to help you get into ketosis faster or keep you there even if you eat a little bit more carbs?

I am back on P1 to lose 10# of "holiday and then some" weight gain. I found this product called Instaketones by Julian Bakery that I decided to give a try. Today was my 3rd day of using and I think I am going to stop. First, they have a ton of sodium in them, which I don't like and I noticed that I felt a little bit weird this morning in my workout. HOWEVER, I think they may be working. Today is my first full day on P1 and I have not been "white knuckling" it like I usually am in the beginning. I am not terribly hungry and I have absolutely NO cravings (or headaches). This is highly unusual because I typically struggle pretty bad in the first 3 days of P1.

This got me thinking and figured I would see if anyone else has ever tried (any brand) of ketones to help with getting and maintaining ketosis.

Hey Jennydoodle!!
I have Keto/OS -- ran into it via one of the Ideal Protein FB groups -- someone who lost on IP and is using Keto/OS as part of her maintenance plan.... I am going to use it this week as I get started back on IP with the hope that it will help me through the keto adaptation period.
I don't seem to get keto flu symptoms like many do, but I want to get into fat burning mode with as little delay as possible.
I have to say, though, that I have no clue whether it will help at all. It definitely produces a purple reading on ketostix that measure ketones in urine. But that does not mean anything since it involves the intake of ketones that have to show up in the urine.
So - I will share what I experience, but I have no clue if it really is helpful.

oneuh2- keep me posted on what you think of them. I did not use the Instaketones this morning and I definitely felt better. But the downside is, with today being Day 2, I am starting to feel the symptoms of keto-flu. Interesting. They may be worth using just to get into ketosis until carb stores are depleted.

Just my $0.02 & keep in mind I am a skeptic of OTC supplements like this, but I wouldn't continue - especially if they were making you feel wonky.

Agreed. That's also why I didn't want to take it this morning, because I want to see if that was the reason. And I think it was. I felt better this morning without it. Although, now I am fighting the keto-flu, so either way, not feeling so great today

Morning Losing...yeah it's great to know that there are some out there especially when it comes time to finding alternative products that work. I know this has been one of my problems...I read about all these great products that only our US friends have and I wish I lived closer to a border so that I could come and 'visit them'. I have visited some of the sites that deliver to Canada but with the exchange and the shipping the prices were way too high. I mostly depend on thelowcarbgrocer (snacks, cereals, WF products...), bulk barn (they have protein chips that I like...bars also but not as good and restricted) and GNC/Popeyes when I purchased the Quest bars...now mostly for the powder.

I do love to hear about all the products and how people like them so that if I get a chance to cross I know what to look for. I did this summer and filled my sister's truck with drinks, quest chips...lol...had a limit of 200$ since that is what is allowed for a day visit oh yeah and had to do some shopping for my daughter!

Hi! I have a sample of the quest peanut butter powder and have been wanting to try it. What else do you add to make the pancakes? Thank you!

I love to make waffles with my pb quest powder. I toast them so that they become crunchy and break them into pieces for a snack. Sometimes I will dip them into WF jam for an added treat. Yummy! I also love to make a thick shake with these...lots of ice and ice cold water makes it thick! I think I burn calories just 'sucking' the shake from the straw...lol

There are numerous ones. Often, I just do 2 oz of water. Sometimes I do egg whites and others olive oil with egg white/water. I find using a waffle iron with 2 oz of water works best for me as I want to keep the packet additives to a minimum. Taking a tablespoon of WF peanut butter to same amount of WF syrup and microwaving it for 20 seconds makes a great topping for it.

Also, I mix the flavors up a lot - I will take the multi- purpose or vanilla powder and do same thing and top with WF blueberry syrup heated.

Hi jelliehel,

I should have mentioned that if you want it a bit fluffier, you could add 1/2 tsp baking powder, but as I wrote previously, I like to keep additives to a minimum. I have also heard that adding sparkling water vs tap water has the same effect which would be on protocol. I am not sure if you tinker much in the kitchen so I just wanted to give you all those ideas if you do.

Btw, I wanted something different today as I haven't used my Quest powder in a while and I wanted something more substantial than protein drinks so I made my Quest peanut butter powder into a cookie. I simply took 3/4 of a scoop to 2 oz of tab water with 1/2 tsp of baking powder and a little salt and baked at 350 for 12 minutes. This is a standard recipe for cookies I use.

My cake recipes are a bit different. This is the best packet hack I have had:
- 1 IP chocolate drink mix packet
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 tsp Swerve or other substitute for granulated sugar
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 egg white
- depending upon batter consistency, may need a little water

Pour into a silicone mini loaf pan of spray non-stick spray in a mini spring load pan or something comparable and bake for 15 minutes. It is done when a toothpick comes out clean. This is fantastic! I make 6 at a time so I have them ready for either breakfast, lunch or my snack.

I have tried doing this with the Quest Chocolate Milkshake powder but it is just not the same as the IP one is a dark chocolate. I have made this with vanilla yet with blueberry extract but I plan to do so. I have made them as muffins with just the water, extract and baking powder and they were great - tasted like real blueberry muffins (and smelled like it too!). I bet the added ingredients will make it that much richer and satisfying. I have done this with banana as well. So, lots of ways to mix and match. Also, if you have the Quest multi-purpose, I made buns out of that using the same recipe.
