It's a feeling that we've become a "family" here- and yes, there is that huge trust issue- I have never felt so "needy" as I have on this diet- even when I went through "the big D' and began my journey with my drinking issues- (issues-HA-) seriously though- yes, maybe I was and it's been such a long time that I don't really remember- don't misunderstand- I needed support, but I don't recall feeling quite this "needy". To the point of I am even annoying myself- so I can only imagine.... Be careful burning the candle- don't let yourself get too tired or overwhelmed- easier said- I know.....I am psyched that you have found something that you both like- and that dad is doing so well!!! Great news all around for you!!!!! Quote:

Weighed in Saturday and after the 2.8 loss the week before I was back up 2.2 - I know that the 2.8 loss was just a fluke of sorts so I wasn't overly concerned about the 2.2 -it was just coming back in to line. I did expect though for some of my measurements to change, you know? Based on muscle changes and all the exercise from last week- but nothing, so I was a little disappointed there-Yesterday we went out for breakfast and I had an egg white omelette with cheddar, onions and mushrooms, some ham, grapes and a slice of wheat toast. Because I wasn't sure of measuremements, and of course how things were cooked, I was cautious for the rest of the day. I had a quest powder shake made with Coconut/almond milk for lunch, and then dinner I ate like P1/2-some lettuce and good seasons (I lived on this before-lol) mashed cauliflower and 8 oz of chicken breast, then a combat bar for desert later in the evening. Today, scale remains at 126.2. I hope to be at the gym similar to last weeks schedule, so if that happens, I would imagine I need to anticipate some more of a gain because of muscle changes. I hope that my thought process that breakfast yesterday wasn't an indulgence is correct. I think my mind has to realize that just because we are eating out, it isn't necessarily an indulgence- I could have eaten the same thing at home- the mix of carbs/fats was similar to what I might have done normally. (I just didn't have as much control as I would have at home) Accountability- I am going to stay off the scale until Thursday. I'm going to try anyways- Well, it's Monday after the change of the clocks....arrgh- I hope that everyone has a great day!!! |
Linda - :dust: on stepping away from the scale! At least you will have a better idea if you need to be a daily weigh-er or not
Not 100% sure on the normal stats, but I think it would be a little early to see any major measurement changes. I think about the side-by-side I posted a couple weeks back that showed the end of P2 / at goal (145) vs exercising for almost 4 months and around the same weight. I was shocked at the difference and now take a picture in a full length mirror once every 2 - 3 weeks, generally in the same outfit & keep them in a folder on my phone "IP photos" so I can see the differences. DST SUCKS! No offense to those on farms or know farmers, but we are not an agricultural society anymore - this time change poop needs to end! I know by Wednesday it will be ok and I'll have adjusted...Linda, my heart to you lady - I just couldn't do it at 6:00a (and was a 1/2 hour late to work) and you're usually up around 4:30 - 5:00a(ish) - :tired: ! Definitely feeling / looking fluffy today. DH and I were reading up on "recovery" last night, so I decided to do one more morning with carbs (English muffin, pbfit, & a banana) & protein (shake) - basically, a P3 breakfast. My quads and calves still feel bruised and depleting glycogen right now probably wouldn't be wise. The weather this week will be very conducive for recovery though - dreary, cloudy with rain off / on through Wednesday, as opposed to sunny and 65. I am going to concentrate on stretching and will likely do some yoga today and light weights (upper body only) tomorrow. I'd be lying to say I wasn't a little concerned about where the scale is at - but yesterday, my uh-oh jeans fit fine. Outside the pancakes at IHOP (which were just absolutely heavenly), I don't feel like I am missing anything (ie the general tso's / bits of candy / bananas  ) and that gives me hope for maintenance. |
LOL, the DST for farmers is BS! No cows in our area are going to expect milking 1 hour earlier than their norm! The clock is not a ruler in their lives. Only the sun and the feeling of fullness in the mammaries, lol.
Maybe it helps in non-animal ag, but since our central province that is responsible for most of the wheat & barley doesn't follow DST at all, I'd doubt it. It throws me off for at least a week and feels even worse since I work nights - even less sleep... AAARGH! Liana |
Hi all..
Well the offer and counter to the counter offer is in on the house. Now we wait again. Also working through the mortgage thing. Ugh it is has been a while since I did this, the paperwork needed. canadjineh - Re - DST - in the north I love it (except for this week). Without DST would not be able to bike after work in spring and fall. I am looking forward to biking this spring. Thanks for the support. Beth - Congrats on your recovery phase. I am so proud of you - I was bragging about my IP friend that ran a 1/2 to a person that was asking me about IP. What do you do differently for training for #2? I love visiting the DC area - so if I decide to get into long distance running I may have to consider that event. Destony - Sounds like you are doing a great job staying on the road to success. Your breakfast sounds wonderful. I miss cheese ( more than fruit - I think). I made DH a frozen pizza last night and I really wanted to pick off that cheese. however my IP pizza was very good. Well off to bed for me. Sue |
Update - the offer was accepted we are buying a house (while on IP).
|
Congratulations on the new house, smdawheel! I personally hate moving and avoid it if entirely possible. I have only lived in 6 places since I was a baby - only 2 cities, lol.
So now, the fun begins.... packing ;) Liana |
Morning Ladies!!
I failed..forgot/couldn't help myself...got on the scale...whatevs...slap myself and move on- there are worse things I could do to myself...I put my little sticker on the scale to stfo of it- ;) Thank gawd it was positive...anyhow a slight change at the request of my coach- if I am going to exercise as much as I did last week she wants me to grab a protein drink after. Even though I live 5 minutes from the gym and make my dinner shortly after I get home. So, carbvantage it is...Sue, congratulations!! Whew- that was quick- I hope that your house sells as quickly. I love my breakfasts...I shouldn't use plural because I eat the same thing every day..I'm going to post in sections because I am afraid it's going to bounce me and I am on my iPad -read "challenged" vs desktop with my mouse...lol |
Phew...I do like it later in the evening. In my opinion, the perfect amount of daylight- about June 1st - plenty of early mornng light and evening as well.Need another couple of days to get new routine down....tired Linda = b8&^hy Linda
Beth how is recovery going?? HIS how is your fracture feeling? Liana I feel for you working the night shift Rainy crappy day here today- fingers crossed it stays that was- I want to be able to make it to the restorative yoga class this afternoon, then up to the treadmill for a bit. Time to shower and make it the best day I can....(yeah keep telling myself that-*chuckle) Have a great day everyone!!!! |
PS- Beth, I need to do the picture thing again- I used to do it and stopped. Good idea!!
|
Sue - CONGRATS!!!!!! :broc: You got this lady! I believe the structure of P1 will really help you get through!
We just refinanced last August and boy has the process changed. The nightmare for me is that I didn't take DH's last name - and I found out I apparently have 16 aliases  wtf-ever  I had to sign & get notarized 16 separate forms with those names, legitimate or not - and most of them were b@st@rdized by other people putting them into the "credit" system. I mean, c'mon, I had to sign one that had "Bath" as my first name - noting that this was NOT a name I ever used :dizzy::?: seriously, whats happened to common sense???? Linda - lol - don't feel bad...the first week after I said I was laying off, I still hopped on 3 or 4 extra times...I found it does get easier, especially since I actually put the scale under the sink so I don't see it every time I am in the bathroom. The time change just stinks...I wish they would leave it DST - I'd rather have it light later in the evening during the winter. I heard New England has talked about changing to the Atlantic time zone.... you have a wise coach lady :D I recently read an article by a respected sports doctor who does not support the "30 minute window" so many advocate. His research has shown the window is much wider (3 - 4 hours), regardless of how strenuous the activity was. Basically you get the same benefit from eating / drinking within the 3 - 4 hour window as you would gulping it down immediately after. HIS - how's it going lady? You've been quiet everywhere - you ok? Busy? At least all the drama has slacked off on the FB pages :) I was sad to see bra-lady was in a wreck :( Jenny - checking in with you - scale holding steady? Have you started phasing off yet? Recovery is going good. I feel normal again today and the headaches have stopped...be curious to see if it ramps back up once the rain ends and the sun comes back out (yay pollen  ). My left quad muscle is still a little sore. I did 30 minutes of easy yoga last night I am worried about DH though - he is going for an xray today on his foot :( He ran a terrific 1/2 but about 30 minutes after, developed pain in his left heel that isn't getting any better - ice helps, but once he is up moving around again it flares back up :( I've been staying on him about taking motrin for inflammation but it doesn't seem to be helping much. :crossed: that it isn't a stress fracture - hopefully just an inflamed tendon. Had an OatMega bar last night - vanilla almond crisp - OMG!!!! YUM I think I finally found a suitable replacement for Quest - and it is natural! So stoked! I've read a lot of comparisons to the IP vanilla crispy square...I wouldn't know, but it was delicious! They are smaller than Combat (yes) & Quest (by a little): Introducing our new lower sugar, higher fiber, even more delicious bar. These bars are great for getting you the balanced nutrition you need whether you’re training for a triathlon or running to a meeting. You get 14g of protein from premium grass-fed whey (the best protein source out there in our opinion), 300mg of Omega-3s from marine sources (oil from sustainably-sourced cold-water fishes), low sugar (5g) and high fiber (7g). http://givebar.com/ - They fit P1 protocol, as a restricted (just something to keep in mind for re-boots) - Available at major box stores (Target / Walmart) - I picked up the ones I am trying at my local grocery...so easier to grab when there isn't time to go by GNC or The Vitamin Shoppe |
I love DST. But I need a lot of sunlight for my mental health. I'm always a happier and more productive person during DST.
I'm frustrated with my weight. Even with a lot of walking and swimming, I feel bloaty and the scale is up 2-3 pounds higher than I'd like. My size 6 clothes are too tight. I did a couple of P2 days and lots of water, with no change in weight. Digestive system is working well so it's not that. I'm getting concerned that my running hiatus is going to lead to a significant weight gain. :( Yesterday I tried stationary biking. I used a recumbent bike for 15 minutes but kept slipping forward on the seat. Then I tried a regular bike but it was a little uncomfortable on my fracture. Got a better workout on that one, though. I'm going back to the gym this afternoon and will look for other options. There is quite a variety of bikes there, but yesterday most of them were being used by rehab patients. The pool is undergoing big maintenance this week so that's not an option for me. DH & I went over to do some sample cuts of that tree yesterday, to see if it was rotten. He mentioned going and I said, "Well, you're not going alone." Good thing I went. He fell over a log and nearly landed on the running chain saw. Then he was in pain all day after the fall. He's more frail than he wants to admit. He really has no business cutting firewood. Ugh I feel like Debbie Downer today. Gotta get off here and get something done. |
HIS - not my business, but have you had any blood work done since phasing off? At your height / weight, imvho, you shouldn't be having issues losing on P2 calories. Personally, I worry too about what would happen if I had to stop exercising - especially my adrenals, since running increases cortisol...and under-active thyroid can happen to anyone, at anytime...
oh - and fwiw I did light weights / stretching at the gym today and now know if I see a scale, I just have to get on the d@mn thing... I am up 5#'s still right now - 153! I know I ate too much (unhealthy) Saturday and Sunday...going to try and stay off the scales until next Tuesday. |
HIS - I agree with Beth, if you haven't had a panel done since you've phased off it wouldn't hurt there. Also don't forget that you've got a fracture! Even if you don't feel the inflammation, I'm sure your body is responding to some extent in that regard trying to protect and heal it. The inflammation could contribute to some extra water retention.
SMDA - Grats on your new home! Like Liana mentioned, I wouldn't be looking forward to the packing that's for sure. On the other hand it's always a great feeling to 'purge' some extra things which usually goes along with the packing! Beth - Wow you're such a beast! I'm so envious of your tremendous running progression in such a short amount of time! You look great! And btw, since i've been lurking and not doing much posting I get to have my delayed response now: Your comparison photos from a while back (since exercising) definitely show how hard you've been working. Idk who said they couldn't tell...they just need to open their eyes! Destony - You're a great inspiration too. So diligent in maintenance! June is my favorite month for daylight too. I love the longer days then, but not right now just yet! I definitely haven't been the most productive person at work yesterday and today lol. p.s. forum is really annoying now! |
Hi all Happy Tuesday.
Kayla / Liana - NOT looking forward to packing. I think it will be good to do a bit of purging before the move. I told my DH that we need to cut our stuff by 50%. Of course to him that means I cut my stuff by 75% and he reduces his stuff by 25% :smug: I agree with forum - I could not get signed in and then got locked out. Beth - I think no scale till next Tuesday is a good plan. I would imagine that you have some tissue swelling and repairs going on now too. Hoping DH is OK. The game sure has changed. The stack of paper work that went to the bank was an inch think. I have never heard of the allias thing, that should be interesting since I recently (9 years ago) got married. HIS - You own this, don't let those thoughts win. Keep doing whatever you can to keep active. I was wondering what else might give you that high calorie burn and a low impact. http://www.shape.com/fitness/cardio/...major-calories Have you tried rowing? Also, Destony's AquaZumba is on the list. Surprising one to me was roller blading -- I was looking at the roller blades that moved with me from Wichita Kansas 13 years ago and thinking they would not go with me on the move. Destony - Could you ask your DBF to hide the scale for you or put it in a different room where you would not want to walk naked in the morning. NSV today -- More of my pants are getting baggy that they need to be part of the 50% reduction (easy to do with clothing these days). I stopped at a thrift shop on way home as I am down to 2 pairs of pants that fit well. I grabbed some 12's and 14's off the rack and was able to put on the 12's and zipper and button without breathing maneuvers. I did pick up a pair or 2 of 14s as well (fit well now). Also added 2 pairs from the $1 rack without trying them on. Time for bed. Sue |
I always feel so behind when I am gone for a week!!! I went to Puerto Rico and relaxed! Now I am back on Phase 1. I was really hungry before dinner last night, but that is only to be expected. Just chiming in that I LOVE DST!!! I work in an office with NO WINDOWS. It's nice to actually experience some sunlight in the evening. It really makes me feel more energetic in the evening.
Beth or should I say Bath? That's hilarious. We have been thinking about refinancing too. Also congrats on the half marathon! Yay! Sue Woo hoo! Congrats on buying a house! That's wonderful! Also that's awesome about buying your new pants. Woo hoo! HIS Hope you are feeling better. We have worked so hard on losing weight, and it is frustrating to be up a few pounds. I agree with everyone to get a lab panel if you haven't. Just in case. Linda I weight myself every day and I recognize that it will be healthier to stop doing that in the future...but it's so hard, so I totally get why you did it. No biggie. June 1st sunlight is amazing! I got married on May 30th. It was a great sunshine day. kalaya Hello! I hope everyone has a nice day and week. |
