Hi Everyone!

Oneuh, slipfree, canadijineh, hi! I'm back as well. No big story here. I just went off P1 for a while and went a little nutso with eating. But I'm back now and will stay OP until I get back down to where I want to belong.

Life is fine for me, and very busy, especially these weeks at the end of a semester. I sit and grade for hours and hours. It will all be over in a few weeks, then I'll do some traveling. It's a little more difficult to stay OP when I'm visiting my sister in FL and trying to cook and feed her so that she'll GAIN weight - or when I'm visiting my daughters and grandkids, but I just need to remember that I stayed OP 100% for 9 months when I first lost the weight. I can do this for a 2-3 months. I know I can.

Have a great day, everyone! I'll be posting daily - or nearly daily.
:wave::wave:

Hi everyone, I have been off of IP for about a year. I had lost 64 pounds for my daughters wedding and it was great! Every time I went back to it I couldn't do it. So in the past 6 months I've gained 50 pounds back. In the meantime I had my synthroid go from 25 to 100 mg. So I was fighting an uphill battle. I broke down and made the call and saw a new coach Monday. So I'm only day 2 and feeling like I can do it this time. I guess it's about the right mindset. I hope to use this forum for support and to share my successes. Thanks in advance! My goal is back down those 50 pounds and 5 more. Ready. Set. Go!

BarbieBoston77 04-27-2016 06:42 PM

Mug cakes Sounds yum..maybe too yum for now Phase 1 ...just a newbie

happy2bme1 04-27-2016 07:07 PM

Hi, I'm also rebooting after 5 years away from IP and this board. I originally lost 60 lbs and thought I was invincible and just ate, ate and ate. Oh well, of course as the saying goes if you continue to do the same thing and expect different results then you're .....!!!. OK, well I'm so glad to be back and thankful that you guys are here and I look forward to sharing in the motivation and success from each of you.

Slipfree 04-27-2016 08:40 PM

Welcome back ladies! Missed you Joysh :)

oneuh2 04-27-2016 09:33 PM

Joysh! Happy to see you - sorry you had some regain, but you sure seem calm about it - that's a good mindset I think. Just take it as the logical next step to go back to P1 and take care of the scale readings but keep moving forward.

aecker4
Sorry you have had a tough time getting back on the wagon - I can relate - getting started is the hardest step to take, and ya have to start and commit, not keep starting over and over again. It's hard, but you know from experience that once you get a rhythm going you will do fine and those pounds will go away.

BarbieBoston77 - Welcome to IP - apparently the mug cake is a newer product offered by IP - I am on alternative products so I don't have access to the new IP stuff... I don't think it is restricted, but your assessment might be true for a different reason. I think you can rock the weight loss by staying with the drinks, soups and puddings for your unrestricteds, and having any of the restricted items you like each day. Some of the unrestricted pancakes and maybe the oatmeal seemed to slow my losses on my initial run with Ideal Protein, especially as I got closer to goal. But you are in a good place during your program - check in often and let us know how you are doing or if you have any questions.

happy2bme1
Welcome back to 3FC - you can do this!

Slipfree - I tried my new WLS Dark Chocolate pudding this evening - I gave it a shot of cinnamon just to pump up flavor a bit, and it is terrific! Maybe I am just glad to have something different - I never used the IP puddings often, and when I did, it was usually to make muffins. Anyway, I have new respect for Nashua's Weight Loss System products.

New menu selection for me... I have to share a yummy item - over on the FB page someone posted about a smoothie/soft ice cream made from IP Vanilla drink (I think they used the ready to drink version but I prepared the drink mix and used that) and frozen rhubarb. I made that for breakfast this morning, and it was excellent. And I really liked that I left a some bits of rhubarb in it and they were kind of chewy -- I like chewy stuff, so that was good. I could have pulverized it I think, but anyway - the flavor was really good. I highly recommend this concoction!

Staying the course - glad to check in with you all! I cannot believe tomorrow is Thursday already!!!

PurpleMomster 04-27-2016 10:23 PM

Hi everyone!

Quick check in for me - work is really crazy right now and I've brought stuff home tonight to work on <sigh> There is a new person starting on Friday who's supposed to be taking on some of the extra work I'm doing so I can't wait.

I made it to Onederland today - woohoo!!! I am soooo happy! My "official" weigh in isn't until Monday morning but today is a good day :)

Jo

Slipfree 04-27-2016 10:33 PM

Congrats on Onederland, Jo!

Cheryl, I think the key to sticking with this program is variety! Changing up your choices and trying new recipes. Your morning shake sounds delish. Some of the WL system bars are tiny :(

oneuh2 04-28-2016 10:39 PM

Fantastic, Jo -- I look forward to joining you there in Onederland before too long... Great job!!!

joysh 04-29-2016 03:05 PM

Hi Everyone!

I'm on day 3 of my reboot on P1 and the scale is down 2 pounds already! I know the first week I'll lose 4-5 pounds of water weight, but I don't care. It's nice to see the numbers go down on my scale. I know this is just the beginning - and I've got a way to go, but it's still nice.

This was the last week of classes and now I've got gobs of grading and finals to give and grade next week. Then I'll have a little respite from it all!

Today was my first day of saying "no" to the cake in the teacher's lounge. In these past few years, I know that it's easier for me to be an "all or nothing" person. I still have not learned how to ration sweets and limit myself when I am not OP. Perhaps someday I'll learn that. For now, I'll happily be on P1 for a few months each year and "just say no."

Have a wonderful weekend!

I think my fave of hers so far tho is the fried cauli rice.,,, I have a supply of IP soups, some puddings, and some drink mixes that I am working out of, too. So far so good - down almost 7 lbs in 7 days - let's see if I can get to Onederland this week. Just a pound away. I am thrilled!

So glad to find old friends here on 3FC too - you all are the best encouragement and support anyone could want. I am free from caregiving duties, now, though I have much paperwork and house chores to catch up on from the last few months before my husband passed away. Time here on the boards helps to fill in some needed companionship - following everyone on here helps me to feel much less lonely. I am grateful to you all.

Oneuh - my condolences to you on your husband's passing. Sending you some light and support....

And.. where's the recipe for "crack slaw?" That sounds interesting!

Also - That WLS dark chocolate pudding sounds good. Is it unrestricted? I notice that it has some fructose in it, but only 80 calories (only 5 from fat!) and 12 g protein. I love anything chocolate, so this might be a great treat to have.

Aecker: and Happy2beme1: Welcome back! You can do it and we're all with you on this.

Welcome, BarbieBoston!

Hi Joysh,

The Crack Slaw recipe is from Jeneva's cookbook, I believe it might be available on her FB site. Her recipes are copyrighted so I can not share it.

A question for you, when you have rebooted do you do the complete Phase Off?

cactusblossom 04-30-2016 08:20 AM

Hi everyone,

I would love to join you! I had success last year, but fell off :( I think part of it was my lack of participation here. I read the boards religiously, but rarely posted. I would like to change that :D And I am starting back on the program today!

Look forward to checking in and posting daily. Hope you all have a great day!

Slipfree 04-30-2016 08:46 AM

Although WI is tomorrow, I hopped on the scale this a.m.- no change! OMG!! I know I am in ketosis, I have had ketosis mouth all week and I gave in and bought keto strips and they show keytones. I am dealing with the big C, but took something yesterday for it. And it is the week before TOM.

Will have beef tenderloin for dinner tonight, even though I do not want it- because sometimes that helps me when the scale is stuck. I am not giving up, but I am seriously frustrated!

Slipfree, trying to find this on FB. These are the "closed" groups? I've requested to join.

Hmmmm. When I first did IP and lost 80 pounds, I spent 3 weeks on P2 and then 2 weeks on P3, which I pretty much stayed on after that for 6 months.

For my reboots, I usually slide into P2 when necessary. This is usually when I'm traveling and need to eat meat or fish protein for lunch and dinner. Otherwise, I try to phase off with a few days on P2 and then slide into P3 for a few days. I've never done the strict phase off during the reboots.

Not sure what that means.

BTW, I also remember that having beef for a dinner brings on a loss. I usually don't eat beef, but I remember that it did.

Slipfree 04-30-2016 03:12 PM

Hi Catusblossom! Your post did not show on my thread earlier or I would have welcomed you. Good luck on your first day back. :)

Joysh, thank you! Jeneva will approve you quickly. I just made her fried caramel apples (chayote) it was delish! I am debating on the vacation phase off, so I can have more time to reach my reboot goal before going to Italy during the 3rd week in June.

AllMe 04-30-2016 04:10 PM

Hi Everyone

Slip- Originally when I did IP 1, I phased off just in time for a vacation. I did one week of phase 2 and one week of phase 3. Left for vacation my second day of phase 4!! I have done pretty well in maintaining (17 months now), I find I only put weight on when I vacation or have multiple trips planned in within a few months. We like to do lots of quick 3 or 4 day trips to get away whenever we can. I find I am usually up max 5 lbs and only because I cannot control my meals and well of course the wine!!! :)

Welcome cactus blossom! Once you get into a routine it will become easier. I do not post much, but can say that without reading everyone's posts daily I would not have made it.

Josh - Janeva's FB page is fantastic, I live in Canada and right now our dollar compared to the US is terrible otherwise I would have ordered the cookbook. Apparently she is coming out with a maintenance cookbook late summer or fall. I have printed out all the recipes on her FB page and created a binder for myself. Great for when I do a quick reboot.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Slipfree 04-30-2016 10:38 PM

Thanks AllMe :) Way to go on 17 months!

Janeva's Classic Crack Slaw from FB group page

CLASSIC CRACK SLAW
This is the IP version I created from the classic crack slaw recipe to fit phase 1
By Janeva Eickhoff

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
1 T. + 1 tsp. olive oil
1 tsp. minced garlic
3 ˝ C. shredded cabbage
˝ C. chopped green onion
salt & pepper, to taste

Sauce:
˝ tsp. Splenda
˝ tsp. ginger paste (or fresh grated ginger)
1 tsp. white vinegar
2 T. soy sauce
˝ tsp. chili pepper paste (or hot sauce)

Directions:
1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over med/med hi heat. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
2. Meanwhile, combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl; mix.
3. Drain any fat from the ground beef, remove from the pan and set aside.
4. In the same fry pan heat the olive oil over med/med hi heat, add the green onion, garlic and cabbage. Stir fry until cabbage is slightly wilted and tender.
5. Stir in the sauce and add the meat; stir to combine. Serve hot.

SERVINGS: Entire recipe = 16 oz. lean protein + 4 C. veggies; eating ˝ the recipe = 8 oz. lean protein + 2 C. veggies. You will be using all your oil for one day in ˝ the recipe.

oneuh2 05-01-2016 09:19 AM

I have made the crack slaw a few times and find it is easy to prepare and nicely filling - the FB group called Janeva's Ideal Protein Cookbok Pase 1 has a bunch of free recipes under Files - I love her cauliflower fried rice... Also very simple and pretty quick to prepare.

I went to Giant Foods, Safeway, Harris Teeter and Whole Foods yesterday looking for jicama tortillas, frozen cauliflower rice, and frozen rhubarb... FOund none of the above at any of the stores I went to.... But I did get fresh rhubarb - 3 stalks became 2 one cup servings in ziplock bags and are waiting in my freezer now. I will get more to freeze - quick peel, chop and bag - and I guess I will try bagging some rices cauliflower too. I use the cauliflower rice in pancakes, muffins, and soups as well as Janeva's fried version.

Does anyone have an alternative Omega 3 supplement that is not fishy but is a good sub for the IP version?

Slipfree - hang in - hope your weigh in shows what a good job you have been doing on your program - you are stalwart!

And Welcome cactusflower!!!
Participation on 3fc has been a critical success factor for me - great support and encouragement when you need it!!!

Slipfree 05-01-2016 11:55 AM

Hi all,

My WI shows .5 loss but at least I saw a new number on the scale. 4.8 pounds until goal. Going to do one more week of Phase 1. Then a few days of phase 2, and move into a couple weeks of Phase 3.

Cheryl, I am really trying to stick with it all, despite the slow down. Sorry that you did not find the items you were looking for, so frustrating. So happy that you are getting prepped for the week,it makes everything so much easier. I tried two new Janeva recipes yesterday, fried caramel apples (chayote squash) and unrolled cabbage roll soup. Both were yummy!

joysh 05-01-2016 11:58 AM

Good morning, all! I'm feeling good. On day 5 and down 4 pounds already! I know it's water weight and adjustment weight, but I'm very happy with it. I'm going strong.

I just realized that I'm scheduled to go to a retreat next weekend and I won't have complete control of my food, but I did it on P1 once before, so I can do it again. I remember I asked the kitchen workers if they could cook me a plain chicken breast for each dinner meal. There is always salad available and usually some overcooked vegetables. But I can bring my own vegetable snacks and, of course, my own drinks for breakfast and bars for snacks so I'll do just fine. Then once grades are in, I'll go up to Syracuse for a week with my daughter and little grandkids. She's very much into eating healthy (and organic) and is always very supportive of me on this diet.

Anyway, I'm in for another day of grading!

Oneuh - Thanks for the crack slaw recipe. I'll try it when I use up the chicken and pork in my fridge.

Slipfree and AllMe- I just got accepted in the FB group so I'll check that out as soon as I have a moment.

AllMe - and all - I seem to travel a lot, too! I'm away one or two weekends very month and I go to Florida pretty often to help my sister. When I'm on P1, I can stay on pretty well, but for longer vacations or "real" vacations (out of the country or big vacations) I phase off and just try to maintain. Other times, I let myself go and choose to eat whatever I want. Then I come back home and go back on P1. Sometimes, you just have to do that, I think.

I think we need to find a balance between focusing on maintaining our weight loss and simply enjoying food that is on the planet. At certain times of the year I allow myself to relax and enjoy. Perhaps that's why I do a couple of reboots each year (Sept, Jan, and usually April-May). It's ok with me to live like this. As long as I can be careful and stay within a 10-15 pound range of my goal, I'm ok.

Yes, have a great weekend, everyone! :):)

jennymo 05-02-2016 03:21 PM

Hello! I am new to this thread. I lost 26 lbs on IP from June - October 2014. I did not properly phase off and by March 2016 I had gained 35 lbs. I officially restarted at the end of March, but the past few weeks I have been overly stressed with moving and work. I slipped a lot :(

Today is my first day rebooting my restart. So I have decided to join this thread to be more accountable and motivated! Reading through your posts, I am sure I will find it here!

Welcome to this thread, jennymo - so sorry for your regain, but so proud of you for coming back here to have support and some extra incentive to stick with the restart - it is SO hard to take the first steps and then stick with the program without slipping back. We are all pulling for you to succeed!

You can do it - it's a mind game - just gotta keep that gremlin in our heads from talking us into self sabotage. One day at a time....

welcome back!

Slipfree 05-04-2016 08:13 PM

Hi all,

I am so tired! TOM is kicking my butt. Following protocol well and moving forward. How about you gals?

Seems really weird to say this, but we only have 5 more weeks of school. The weather has been so cold here that it just does not feel like May. Rainy and 50s for the past 4 days.

Made a buffalo chicken meatloaf tonight. Used cauliflower to bulk up and keep it from drying out. Tasted good and I have leftovers for tomorrow night.

Kellyc14 05-05-2016 11:39 AM

Here I am again. I have been trying to reboot since January! The good news is I started IP May of 2014, lost 85 lbs, maintained for well over a year, and then regained not quite 20 lbs over the Christmas holidays. I started my reboot in March but then got derailed. I am happy to say that I went back to my coach today and am back on track! My weight was up, but my fat was down, so that's not tooo bad.

I was reading through the posts and someone mentioned "last supper syndrome" that was me for the past two weeks!! I kept telling myself that I was going to get back on track "tomorrow" so I might as well eat what I can today! I even ate spaghetti and I haven't had that since I started IP in 2014!! I postponed my appointment with my coach last week because I wanted to lose weight before getting weighed, how crazy is that??? and then I almost didn't go today, however I knew that if I didn't it would just be worse next week. So I am proud of myself for going. She was really nice and understanding too.

Hopefully I am back on track and can get to goal. I never phased off the first time, I was able to maintain by avoiding carbs and sugar, but I'd like to phase off properly. I don't think that I will ever be able to eat like a "normal" person though. I will have to watch my carbs for the rest of my life. Small price to pay to be comfortable in my skin.

It's weird, I have only regained 20 lbs, but I feel like I gained it all back. I guess because my clothes no longer fit me? They will fit me again when I take 15 lbs off, seems like such an easy task.....if only it were!!

It's good to be back on here and seeing all the familiar names.

Slipfree 05-05-2016 06:13 PM

Hi ladies,

Hope that you are having an easy IP day.

Jennymo, welcome back! Just take it one meal at a time, soon you will be adding up the clean eating days and watching the pounds drop off.

Joysh, glad that you were able to get on the FB page. I am really excited that she is coming out with a maintenance cookbook in August.

KellyC, brave girl to head back to your coach! Maybe you just needed a bit more accountability.

As for me, I am having a terrible TOM. Maybe this explains the scale slow down. Ugh!

BEEGEE 05-05-2016 07:45 PM

Three weeks into this diet and so far lost 12.6 pounds! Yay my clothes are a little looser! I am going to a concert on Tuesday and trying to decide if I should join my friends with some drinks before the show.......... maybe one.

Slipfree 05-07-2016 09:51 AM

Beegee, those are fantastic results! Keep working it chard.

As for me, I am down 4 pounds- 1 pound from goal! Yahoo!!!

BEEGEE 05-08-2016 10:01 AM

Slipfree thanks! One pound from goal!!! Yay!!! That is so great!!!

Loser13 05-13-2016 01:55 AM

Hello ladies. Well things are not good for me. I have been tryimg to get back on IP for over a year and just cant do it. I even lasted 40 days last summer but then I slip and sprial out of control.
I took my mother shoppinf for mothers day..tried some clothes and felt like crying. Looked like a whale in everything...somdepressed to be in size 14 when I was in size 6 last march.
Every day i am good all day but then in the afternoon my head says..you know have what you want today...my famest last super speech...and then start tomorrow.
I cant sllep at night because of carb overload...so here i am again...
I know i can do it..i know it works...i jut need to do it...i wish i could turn off that demon inside...
Soory to be such a downer...hoping to check in daily and this time make it through the day tomorrow and keep going!

canadjineh 05-13-2016 02:40 PM

Oh, Loser13. So glad to see you are back! You can do this. First step was getting in touch with us again - your 'support group.' Focus on your keeping to plan for most of the day - this is a victory too! Now work on the one afternoon at a time. Have a plan for when that feeling hits - some distraction that gets you away from the food areas in your home/work. We are rooting for you and know you will be back in your 6's again. Today is a fresh start!
:broc::broc::broc::listen: We are listening for ya!

Hey Loser13,

I just wanted to say "You're not alone!" I too lost a lot of weight the first time on IP. I maintained for a year and then I started dating, got married, and started to gain weight. I gained it all back over the course of 5 years.

So, life happens and then you get back on the program that works and start fresh. I know I tried numerous times to reboot as the weight slowly came back on. This time- almost 5 years to the day that I started the first time, I'm back into the swing and losing just as quickly as I did on round 1.

As for that "little voice" that steers you off course, try telling it that you want to try something different today- and not give in to old habits. Do something else that makes you feel good. Make a list of those things so that you can refer to it when needed.

You've done this before, you can do it again.:cheer2:

Slipfree 05-13-2016 08:12 PM

Loser13 and MOvington, Welcome back! Getting back into the swing of protocol is half the battle.

My reboot is coming to an end, down 25 pounds and back into size 8s! It was hard, but my slide really taught me something about maintainance- it takes constant work forever.

Loser13 05-14-2016 10:35 AM

Thanks for the support ladies. I did not make it through the day. I have a wedding today so yesterday my voice told me it was useless to start today. It is ok. I will come back here everyday. I know i will have good news.
I am not looking forward to this wedding. Not many people have seen the fat new me....and i so hate being the one talked about...yes we have that kind of people in my husbands family....specialy two sister in laws who are mean....but it is ok...i will turn this around...i know i can get rid of these carb cravings...i jus have to want it bad enough...i have to stop whinig about it...get off my butt and DO IT....by coming here every day i know i can do it....
Slipfree congrats to you! Back to size 8! You are right ...it is work to stay where we are (were for me) but being healthy is worth....so is looking goood and being confident...which i am not at the moment.

Slipfree 05-15-2016 06:50 PM

Loser13, hope today was a better day. 3 years ago, I started IP and had to go to a wedding on my fourth day. I ate only the steak. Wedding are tough on Phase 1.

Still have one pesky pound to drop, so Phase 1 again this week! The scale can be so frustrating.

I'm right here with you!! We can do this!! I understand what you are saying when you say, not many people have seen the fat new me! I am feeling the same way. I want to get back into the clothes in my closet and then smaller!! I know we can do it. I think that may be part of the problem, I have the faulty thinking, warped dialogue going on in my head...it's like I know IP works, so I think that I can eat what I want and start tomorrow!! The proverbial tomorrow!! But in the meantime my clothes are getting tighter and tighter!!! WE CAN DO THIS!! we HAVE done it!! We got this!!

Slip, good job getting back into your 8s!!!! Here's to a wonderful week ladies!!!

MonicaKolesnik 05-16-2016 03:44 PM

Loser13 and Kellyc14 I have been doing the exact same thing you are both talking about for the past year now. I wish I had so magic or wisdom to help others start back on there weight loss journey, but truthfully it has taken me feeling absolutely awful and depressed after get so close to my beginning weight to say enough is enough, no more excuses cause if I want this the only one who can do it is me. I don't yet have any inspiration to share as I only just started back at it last Friday. But please anyone struggling after putting weight back on after previous success, YOU ARE NOT ALONE and we are here to both support you while dieting but also if you just need support

joysh 05-16-2016 04:52 PM

Slipfree!! Congratulations! How wonderful!!!!! Way to go!!

Hi everybody! HI Monica! Good for you for coming back here!

Loser13 and Kellyc14 , you can do it!!! We all can!!!

My news: I've been here in Syracuse visiting my daughter and her family (grandkids ages 3 and 7) and my daughter and dear SIL are so wonderful and supportive. They have been sure I have my dinner protein and vegetables. Yesterday evening we went to a friend's house for a huge pizza party. My son in law bought me a steak and cooked it so I would have something to eat! There were plenty of green salads that people had brought, and I had a lovely dinner of steak and salad!

Hopefully I will have a good loss when I get home to weigh in!

All is very well! I'm happy it's summer and I'll start swimming again.

Best regards to all of you! :):)

Hi Everyone! Great job everyone for staying strong. I'm still going as well and I'm on day 26. I'm losing slowly but feeling strong and much more confident. There is a lot of action on the site tonight so I'm responding to possibly this thread or another and I'm a little tired so bear with me as I ramble on a few topics. I did arms/chest tonight at the gym and typing is even something I need to concentrate to do right now. :dizzy: For me as I've said before, I had a hard time cheating for many months and didn't lose anything until I set a goal of 60 days - with a countdown on my phone - this small action actually motivated me to stay strong for some strange reason - so you have to find what works for you. In another thread it was asking what your go-to meal is and mine right now is zucchini noodles and ground turkey with light sugar free sauce of some sort. I also like steak and zucchini noodles. Zucchini noodles are just a big part of my life right now. :D I'm encouraged to see so many new people writing in here - please keep writing because it is so encouraging to read and keeps me strong day-to-day. Even though I'm in a ketosis high right now and feeling strong, I know a cheat is right around the corner if I don't stick to my goal. Stay strong everyone. We can do it!:carrot:

Loser, Kelly, Monica...hang in there. I am right there with you. Restarting is SO. HARD. One thing that kept me going the first time around was the thought that "well the time is going to pass anyway...I might as well make the most of it." And that has really rung true. I think a lot of where I would be now if I had just started and stuck with it in January. So many "what if"s and "if I had just"s. But none of that matters now, we're in the present.

I'm determine to have an OP week. I went a bit off the rails on Sunday, with a friend in town. I bargained with myself that I could have one meal without rules, and now I'm back up two pounds. I know it's just water, but I need to stop trying to get around the rules.

Did pretty well yesterday, had a bite of something I shouldn't have. I need to make sure dinners are ready when I get home. Afternoons are my weak time.

But anyway, this thread got me through a lot of tough spots and I've left and come back, and left again and come back again. And my weight and will power has reflected that up and down pattern. Keep coming here and posting. We can do it!
