Forgot to post last Tuesday which was end of WK 2 reboot...down 11 pounds! yipee... (reboot weight starting was 225). Planning on staying on Phase 1 until June or July so hopefully I'll be back down to 160's...slowly over the summer I will work toward my DREAM goal of 145...I am 5/7 and that is a weight that works for me...any thinner and I look gaunt.
Day by day.

Aunt Sheshie 02-13-2016 11:56 AM

How low can we go on veggies, gram-wise?.. I'm so tired of cutting up salads & some days just want meat... anybody???.. :?:
Thanks!..

amylew 02-13-2016 05:04 PM

I'm rebooting again. I lost 55 pounds in the summer/fall of 2010 and gained 20 or so back. I went through a divorce in 2012 and although that helped keep the weight off for a while (LOL), I got comfortable and let everything slip. So I'm back. I NEED this site. I NEED to read and realize that I'm not alone and it really helps me obsess, which is what I have to do to stick with it. So, thanks, everyone!

Slipfree 02-13-2016 07:26 PM

Amylew, you are not alone. I am with you, it takes an intense focus for me to work this program. Plus, people in "real" life really do not want to talk about IP Life.

Mae5 02-18-2016 03:56 PM

I understan what your saying...
Some people have o interest in IP or believe it works.. But it does. I had someone what so, what how much did you lose like 30-40 lbs...!!! I had lost 80!! Big difference and yes you could tell. Others were nice and complimented me then again those who never ever said a word and believe me it was quite obvious I had dropped 80 pounds.. A few girlfriends asked if I was sick ;(... at any rate we need to lose for us and whatever works for us is best. I had full bloodwork done after my loss and I was completely healthy.
Yes I am now on reboot but only because of me and my poor eating choices.. Not bc IP doesn t work.
Hang in there!!!

jennydoodle 02-18-2016 04:10 PM

We all have our own journey's and you are right, people not on IP do not understand IP.

I am coming into the final stretch of my reboot and will hopefully start phasing off in the next week or 2. Thank goodness because, mentally, I am DONE with P1. :)

Addy 02-18-2016 05:12 PM

Good evening all,
So, had my second WI today, down 3.8lbs first week was 9.4.for a grand total of about 13lbs down! Still a long way to go, but every journey starts with a step. (or something like that) It's been crazy busy at work and life, but I wanted to come here and read how everyone was doing and share my success.
I wish everyone an amazing day. All the best.

Slipfree 02-18-2016 06:08 PM

Addy, great WI! 13 pounds is awesome.

Mae5 02-19-2016 08:29 AM

Congrats Addy!!!
Have a slow week myself ...a "stuck"week as I call it...but I can't complain bc the first 2 I lost 11 lbs...and it was TOM also...running off to get a mammy grammy this morning..ugh..so not fun, but so important. my grandmother and father had/have breast cancer...being overweight is a def. factor in breast cancer, another big reason I want to get back to a healthy weight.
Happy Friday ladies...Enjoy the weekend...maybe a nice walk outside if it isn't too snowy where you live!

pishposhappelsauce 02-21-2016 06:57 PM

Hello hello. I haven't posted in awhile, but I'm back to reboot! I lost 62 lbs and 6 pants sizes over 7 months in 2014. Slowly the pounds have crept back on over the last year. I'm still 30 pounds down from my heaviest, and I'm still fitting into my size 10s by some miracle but they have probably stretched out to 12s or so. Time to nip this in the bud.

I'm going to use alternatives this time around. I don't have time to go to a clinic and I can't justify the cost of expensive food right now. I'm going to Paris for 10 day in April where I fully plan to indulge. I just feel like I need to stop Gaining any more and making this worse. I will pick up and get right back on after the trip.

My biggest challenge will be stress. I am going to be starting a new job March 14 very different from what I do now. I know ip will help me get a much needed sense of control back over my life.

Slipfree 02-21-2016 07:46 PM

Hi Pishposh,

Nice to hear from you. I am rebooting to lose 20. Down 4 so far. Being OP does bring back a sense of control. Exciting news about your new job and trip. I am headed to Italy in June, great motivation to get in top form!
Prices on IP foods are even higher now, so alternatives seem to be the way to go. Wishing you luck.

Mae5 02-22-2016 10:24 AM

Any of you exercising? I started taking a 20 min. walk on my treadmill...bowled on sat. and walked sun and today. Makes me start out the day on the right foot. I need to be careful not to do too much but I like the way my muscles feel and my general overall health if I do "something". Any exercises you do that you find fun and effective while OP?

Hi ladies, I recognized your names from 2010/2011. I am back too. I originally lost 80 and maintained most of that for 4 years and then the last year the pounds came on...I am up about 43 pounds. I restarted on Sunday. This website helps me focus and obsess and I need to obsess.

CO_6 02-23-2016 05:18 PM

Need to lose about 30, 20 of which I had already lost before! I keep restarting...having a hard time not spiraling after a taste or bite of something. I am working on it and slowly improving. I need to find a satisfactory breakfast to keep me from being ravenous at lunch. What has worked for some of you?

pvc 02-23-2016 06:57 PM

I too am back,...lost 50 + in 2012 , been back to all-time high since 2014,....one month into restart....down 16 have not been 100% 3FC really helps, May 1 goal !!

PurpleMomster 02-23-2016 10:01 PM

Hi everyone! Recognizing a few more names too - nice to "see" some familiar names.

Well, I'm down almost 20lbs since rebooting on January 4th and I'm pretty happy about that. It's starting to be noticeable and people are commenting so that feels good. I think I find it fairly easy this time because I've been here before, I remember this feeling and I remember how good it felt when people started noticing.

I'm doing all alternatives this time - the clinic that I used back in 2013 isn't doing IP anymore, they're doing something different and I'd rather stick with something I know. I have to say that I love, love, love Quest chips! I haven't found a place that has the BBQ ones in stock yet but the sour cream and onion flavour - wow, I feel like I'm cheating when I have them, lol! I also bought a container of the Quest multi-purpose mix but haven't got any more adventurous than making pancakes with it. One of these days I'll try some muffins or even cookies.

Hope everyone is having a great night and I'm going to try to check in more frequently.

Jo

I'm a creature of habit so I have the chocolate drink. But what I do is I mix it up, pour half into a large coffee takeout cup, heat that in the microwave for 35 seconds and then I add hot coffee to it. And then I do the same with the remaining half mid- morning. I find that this works best for me at work. On the weekends I make the pancakes with the IP crispy cereal packet. It's my weekend treat!

darbs7 02-24-2016 06:30 AM

I am starting day 4 today. I just returned from a cruise on Saturday...so my goal for my first week is to weigh what I did before I left for the cruise (I did not weigh when I started as I weighed the day before I left for the cruise)...I know I gained a solid 8 or more pounds on cruise from the pool drinks alone.

I think I am in ketosis...I think I was by middle of day yesterday...fastest ever.:carrot:

jennydoodle 02-24-2016 09:41 AM

Looks like the reboots thread is picking up some steam again! :)

I am basically done with my reboot, at least for now. I am just about at goal, but my measurements are smaller now than they were the first time I hit goal on IP. Must be because of the muscle mass I put on during my "gain". The next 5 weeks for me are crazy busy with company, traveling, vacations, etc... so I am going to do what I did through the holidays and do a combination of "eating normal", P1 and some splurges. If I can stay right here in the mid-high 130's, that would be perfect. Then I plan to do 1-2 weeks back on P1 at the beginning of April and then start my phase off.

catlady1981 02-24-2016 01:14 PM

Hi everyone!!

So glad this thread popped up. Rebooting since 1/25. Finally saw some movement on the scale this morning after NO loss last week.

Jennydoodle: Great news. Congrats!

How much do you have to lose in your reboot?

Largo 02-24-2016 08:54 PM

Think I am almost done too. I am back to where I was when I phased off last year. I plan to hit phase 2 a week from Friday. I want to keep my discipline for the rest of the phases and maintenance. I am hoping to slowly lose 4 to 5 more pounds on maintenance by watching my calories and macros carefully. Love it that all my clothes fit again. Everyone else seems to have a handle on their reboot. We got this.

I've got 7 more lbs to go. I'm not sure if I will make it by 3/5 but if I get to that date and and I'm not at 140 I'll move on to P2 for a week and then P3 and then back to my regular Maintenance menus and working out. That should do it. My hair is falling out again and I'm much more hungry on this reboot than the last one. Also the weight is not coming off as quickly as the first reboot I did. In reading the forums, I understand that is not all that unusual.

pishposhappelsauce 02-25-2016 02:49 PM

Glad to see so many of you having successes in your reboot. It's inspiring!

Started today with alternatives. I'm HUNGRY! But hanging in there. Hoping ketosis hits soon.

Addy 02-25-2016 03:27 PM

I really wish we had a 'like' button :) I try to get on the board and read all of the comments but I don't always have time to comment.
Congrats to all and thank you for the encouragement. I am finding there are more resources now, or perhaps just easier to find, then there was before.
I am also poking/thinking/playing with the idea of creating an app with IP /low carb in mind. In today's world, having 'an app for that' is almost second nature.

PurpleMomster 02-25-2016 09:03 PM

Thanks to whoever mentioned the Ideal Protein Alternatives group on FB - lots of great advice there! And I found someone close in Canada who ships Proti Diet products, yay! I am once again completely jealous of you guys in the US though, so many of the alternative products you can get that we can't :(

Anyway - I made my 20lbs down before the end of February goal, so happy! Hoping to make the 25lbs down spring challenge too. And, I found some clothes in the back of my closet that are the next size down, yay! I will need to visit the thrift store for some tops though.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Jo

I started on Sunday, by mid day on Tuesday I felt ketosis creeping in, the last few days...tons of energy and no hunger. Hold on.

What is the name of the Facebook group?

schatc 02-26-2016 01:51 PM

Hey all!

I am back for a reboot as well. After having great success of losing 120lbs in 2011 on IP, I have now put 65lbs back on after a rough 2013-14. Tried a reboot in 2014 but because of my own doing that failed. I am on day 3 and my headaches have went away and things seem to be going along pretty smoothly.

Good luck to everyone else that is starting, rebooting, continuing or maintaining on IP. This forum and everyone on it helped my first journey a lot, glad to be back.

At least you stopped before putting it all back on (same as me). I started on Sunday and I am feeling pretty good today.

It's Ideal Protein Alternatives. You can request to join and they'll add you. Pretty active group.

Had a good day today but a late afternoon meeting meant I had to hold back on drinking too much water. I'll have to catch up tonight!

Right after I sent the message, I found it on FB and have been on it since. Thanks

Hi All!

I just went through week 1 of my restart. I lost a total of 4.8 lbs!! Yay!!!

Nice work!

Restarting IP after 2 years - Up 12lbs

I successfully lost 50lbs but about 6 months later I was up 2-3lbs. Then the past holidays came and I gained 10lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I decided 2 weeks ago to go back on the Plan but can't seem to stick to it. I keep craving sweets and eating them. I am going to start back fresh tomorrow. Ketosis here I come.

starjan 03-06-2016 10:50 AM

Thinking about doing Ideal Protein

I have been reading the threads with great interest and several years several members of a dance team I was on lost tons of weight. I need to lose 13 lbs. I'm having a really hard time losing this weight so I think IP just might be the thing for me. I was wondering if someone could tell me why phase 1 is so difficult and if anyone has an idea of the cost. Thanks so much!! All of your stories are so inspiring.

TBird 03-07-2016 04:18 PM

Here we go----Saturday I start back after 4 years!! I have gained back 22 lbs--so depressing!

Lorri1972 03-07-2016 04:57 PM

So discouraged

Hi sorry for the all caps but I am about to quit. I have been on IP since Feb 1. I had lost 10 pounds in a month and when I went to weigh today I gained 3 back!!! I wish i could say I cheated but i have been OP to the exact protocol and I am seriously about to quit. Any help?
Thank you!:?:

Slipfree 03-07-2016 05:47 PM

Lorri, could it be hormonal fluctuation and water retention? Some food with high sodium like soy sauce causing water retention? Or to be blunt, constipation?

Ten pounds is great! Your scale may go back down by tomorrow. Stay strong and push the water.

Hi! I think it is constipation lol. I have been taking laxatives to help and realize that is not the best thing to do all the time. I am just really down about it. Thanks so much for replying. I haven't had much soy sauce but I have had some sodium…..I think that i am having fluid retention too.

Slipfree 03-07-2016 08:25 PM

Lorri, how often are you weighing in? On my way down, I only weighed with my coach every 2 weeks. Now, in my reboot, I weigh in once a week. Otherwise the scale fluctuations mess with my head.

As for the big C, I only used natural stuff. (Smooth Move tea and Colon Cleanse) Colon Cleanse was recommended by a naturopath.

Try to remind yourself why you started. You have made it through one of the hardest months, it gets easier for a while. I know it is hard, frustrating, and emotional- but it is worth it. You can do it!
