    Hi Everyone,

I am so happy to have found this site. I just signed up with IP and began today. So excited and ready and happy to have found other on the same journey.

    Hey All!

Trying to find my way and get to a healthy weight. Did atkins in the past and lost but in the end, it was too restrictive for me to keep up. I want to be able to eat normally at some point! Worked out alot, got injured which kept me sidelined for 2 years and couldn't get back into the swing. Weight crept up but worse, FAT crept up and blood pressure crept up. YIKES!!

A little disappointed as my first weigh-in was on day 5 and I'd only lost 2 lbs. And I didn't cheat. Sigh. So that's how it's gonna be... Meanwhile my hubby thinks about loosing weight and drops 10 lbs! Hehe

    Should be a great ride!
  • Hello ladies. I am a May starter also. Started two weeks ago. Lots 10 pounds in the first week...I was amazed! Then..8 days in..I had a few chips...I don't know why...I had not had cravings for a few days ( day three was a total nightmare for me...I was not a happy camper...massive headache...) but I survived.
I let those few chips become a night binge...become a week binge...the ladies in the daily chat had many great words...but for some reason ...I kept eating or like Lisa said it so well OVEREATING.
This morning I decided to stop the cycle...made it through he afternoon..and tonight
I was reading the posts on this thread and it is just amazing to me how we, as such strong and smart women, keep doing this to ourselves.
I WILL do it! We WILL do it! Together we got this ladies.
This site is the greatest asset for us, lets make it work! Positive!
    WE ARE WORTH IT!
  • Hello again. I just wanted to say that I live in northern Ontario and I would really appreciate if anyone knows of products out there or great sites to order alternatives to share this. i have order from lowcarb and love it. i found quest bars and chips at GNC but never saw any eas rdt drinks at my walmart that I hear so much about or any of the proti brand.
i read some things on the Canadian thread but it is now closed and I did not see a new thread.
    thanks!
  • mdoso...ctib...let's do this.
Ctib...2lbs in five days is a loss...it all depends on how much we have to lose also...also you can sometimes see it in inches ...in your clothes...
Let's not let the fat come back! Actually that sounds like a good catch phrase...lol
Rainy day here...will do some spring cleaning inside. Gotta keep busy so the little voice does not speak to me!
  • I guess you can call me a May starter as well. Although I did IP in the past I never gave it my 100%. I'm now recommitted and excited to reach my goal.

First WI today and down 6.2. Day 3 for me was awful as well. Headache, hunger and all the fun stuff. Feel so much better on day 7. This time what I think will work for me is taking my pills religiously. The first time I did IP I skipped pills, I never took the potassium/vitamin in the mornings, throughout the day I felt like crap. This week I missed one day and realize how important it is. So I make a real effort to take them on a daily basis. And I only use the IP pills. They seem to work better for me, including the Omega. I am also taking a Probiotic from Costco, it's doing wonders for my bowel movements...

    Good luck to everyone.
  • Stay positive May Peeps.

Out of all the vitamins you're taking potassium is THE important one. It's important for regulating your heart beat, balancing the sodium level in the body, electrical impulses through nerves and blood cell replenishment. Whatever you do, make sure you take this one if none of the others.

Constipation can be a big issue with IP and many of us try to combat it several ways.

    1. make sure you drink all your water
    2. choose veggies that are heavy fiber (thinking leafy or green) at least once a day
    3. magnesium powder or mag citrate liquid (cheap in Walmart/Walgreens own brands)
    4. a senna laxative (try to avoid this on a regular basis as your body will become accustomed to using it and you may become sluggish without it once you finish IP)
    5. physical activity - even just stretching and massaging the tummy helps

Hope you have a steady downward weight journey, Mays!

That is good to keep in mind! I have to check my supplements.

OK, wow just WOW - 10 pounds your first week and you started at 150 pounds? I started around the same weight and had around a 2 lb loss that has already leveled off. That is incredible.

I hope you figured out how to get back on track. Seems like your body will love low carb.

You and I and sunflower40 and LexiChanel1 are all aiming for ~20 pound loss (my ticker goal is a ridiculous dream at this point).... which tends to go more slowly. There is a whole IP thread out there about 20 pounds or less. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...less-lose.html Let's get this done!

Quote: I hated the cheesecake pudding as pudding, but it makes excellent waffles.

    1 pudding packet
    1/4 tsp salt
    3/8 tsp baking powder
    1 egg or 2 whites
enough water to make achieve normal waffle batter consistency

Cook in preheated waffle iron until steaming stops.
I actually don't own a waffle iron (but starting to think about it...) but I will try this as pancakes!

When I said earlier that I was no poster child for IP (in reference to being an accountability partner), I meant that I struggle a LOT with a borderline eating disorder... I am trying very hard to figure out what is going to work for me. I do usually post over in the What are You Eating Thread for accountability and planning (and great ideas from others!)

I am trucking along... not entirely on plan as I haven't eaten enough (I had a bad reaction to some packet? the other day - general bad belly/queasiness/nausea - and didn't really eat the entire next day) but overall I am figuring out what works and what doesn't. I love thinking ahead to the strategies that I will keep into maintenance.

How is everyone? Entering our second full week of May...

Any time you get a reaction like that to a packet, note what packet you had and check the ingredients. Over time you may see that you are particularly sensitive to a specific ingredient that is common to several of the packets. I don't tolerate soy very well, many others here don't do well on the gluten packets and others have issues with one or the other artificial sweetener.

You're absolutely right, learning what works for you is about 90% of the battle in weight loss. The better your food tracking, the faster you identify which ingredients in ALL foods (not just the IP packets and alternatives) to avoid in future.

Maintenance only works if you actually LIKE the foods that you're going to eat. Otherwise you will be battling cravings forever and be miserable. Finding out where your tolerances are (mainly during the phasing out in P2, P3 and P4) will help with that.
  • EmmaD....I know 10 pounds was good but the reality of it was that previous to deciding to try IP I had been eating 'nonstop'...so I think my body just said ...wow...no more carbs?...and let go of what they call water weight...but still...I was happy...
Also...ten years ago my weight was 251lbs....i did not find IP back then....I started walking and walking....then running...and did ww...it worked but it took a LONG time to lose 100 pounds....then it just would not move...not a pound after months of exercice...good eating...so my little voice said....go on eat...eat...
Then in October i found IP...read so many threads...finally decided to start in May...did great first week...had a bite of chips...little voice said go on...eat...eat.
Now i know I have to be 100% to succeed....so this is how I see it....week one for my trial run..now I'm doing it and following protocol!
I'm with you....let's get this done...one IP day at a time!
  • Starting on Tuesday
    Hello everyone,
I'm super excited to get started on this journey and so glad to have found this forum! I've got 50lbs to lose and, of course, feeling a bit fearful that this too won't work for me. But the many testimonials give me faith! So many wonderful stories. Trying to get to my goal weight of 145...last time I was there was 2004. Since then it's been a steady climb upward.
Look forward to checking in with everyone and wishing you all a great week!
  • arghhh mom came to visit this weekend and I cheated, had some naan bread and a handful of chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Guess it could of been a lot worse, told mom she's not allowed to come visit again LOL. Didn't get all my veggies or my water in.

back on track as of THIS moment! not wasting another minute, 5 days til WI and I hope to lose at least 1 lb this week

    how was everyone's weekend?
  • Hi May starters!

Wanted to pop in and say I started IP one year ago (May 8) and successfully lost 117 lbs. It has opened up new worlds to me - riding amusement part rides with my daughter, swinging together on the hammock, riding a trailer tandem bike together, happily getting my picture taken with her - often!

It's hard to get started. But as someone says in their posts: It is hard being fat. It is hard losing the weight. It is hard maintaining the loss. Choose your hard.

Best of luck to you...trust in the plan, you will be happy you did!

That is so cool! Thanks for posting here! I "only" have 20-30 pounds to lose and it is painfully slow and I get discouraged and give up usually. But this time I committed to a time frame - four months to start then I'll re-evaluate. So hearing about your success is really really motivating. Congratulations - and big internet hugs to you
  • Hi All,
I've restarted today. I was on IP a few years ago and then totally fell off the wagon. I'm so glad to see this group!
