Week 6

Today is week 6 this is the 1st week I have not been on the scale everyday so weigh in today will be a complete surprise. Week 2 I didn't weigh and lost 8lbs so Im hoping for the same success. This week I have not been hungry and have forgot my IP morning food and have had to force lunch. I have lost a total of 15.5 inches, 6% bodyfat, 18lbs. Have found some yummy things to try and have found a new way of eating while on this. I love rutabaga who knew :) Wish me luck tonight :dizzy:

Karebear2269: Best of luck with your WI! Just my 2cents but you should really try to eat breakfast even if you're not hungry. It kick-starts your metabolism. If you're forcing lunch then you're still not hungry by lunch? Just be careful you don't put your body in starvation mode because p1 is very low in calories and that's if you eat everything. Anyways, you seem to be doing great and as long as you're feeling good. Post today's WI results. I'm on my way now for WI 6 too. BTW, how do you prepare rutabaga?

I started IP in March and am down 26 lbs. It's been tough watching my husband drop 53 lbs in the same amount of time, but I know men lose more quickly. I've been told that the medication I'm on isn't helping as well as menopause. 60 to go! Hopefully it'll go a bit faster!

Look for the recipe thread of IP Friendly Crockpot Recipes -- I do a 3 lb pork tenderloin in the crockpot over cut up rutabaga or turnips, and add a cup of Walden Farms Pancake Syrup and half a cup of low sodium chicken broth. The result is fabulous - the rutabaga or turnips remind you of sweet potatoe, and the pork just melts in your mouth. yummers....

I have cooked the rutabaga or turnips in just the pancake syrup and chicken broth on the stove in a pot -- also very good. Just have to cut up the rutabaga into half inch cubes so that it cooks thru in a reasonable amount of time.

Some people have success with rutabaga or turnip fries, and at Thanksgiving, Sweet Fauxtato Custard (aka pie with no crust) was very popular last November.

Check out the recipe threads - you will find all this stuff!

Does anyone have a guide to follow Ideal Protein "on the cheap"? The costs are a bit prohibitive for me. Thanks!

Omg, the crockpot recipe sounds delicious! Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the thread too.

Week 8 weigh-in

I just wrapped up my week 8 weigh in. I've lost 30 lbs~ I started April 13 and couldn't be happier. I go to an alternative clinic (didn't figure that out until the 5th week) so i've been ordering things from Nashua Nutrition which saves a lot of money. Hope everyone is doing well!

Starting back today! I first started IP Dec 2011 and lost 35 lbs in 4 months. I have gained back 23 lbs because I did not phase off properly or work out or eat right! Looking to drop that 23 and keep it off!!! I have gained lots of muscle by working with a trainer but not keeping a proper diet...looking forward to seeing what those muscles look like under the layer of fat!! Hoping it won't take me long and I will phase off correctly and work out!! Wish me luck!!

week 13

Week 13, I weighed in at -40lbs. Since I had been going to an "alternative" clinic, I've decided to go at it alone for a while, and will go back in if I get stuck. There are so many resources online that I don't feel like I need to pay $30/Week to be weighed. I usually end up giving my clinic recipes and tips & tricks rather than them. :D My goal is to be at my goal around Oct and go back to the clinic for 4 weeks for phase 2&3.

Some things I've learned:
1. I've lost my appetite for sweet things. While I very much enjoy my restricted once a day, I now crave salty things such as the crisps for my unrestricted at night. This happened around week 8.

2. Adding 1 cup of baby spinach (via Ninja IQ blender) helps me tremendously not feel hungry after breakfast.

3. When I'm hungry, I eat an extra non-restricted. Usually at least 2x a week. This isn't protocol but it works for me.

4. Planning is key! I travel a lot, and have never had an issue. Always keep a few extra restricted/non-restricteds with you in case of delays.

5. I've played around with having protein at lunch and dinner (split)- and I feel shortchanged at night, so I always save my protein for dinner. I've become an early bird eater!
