April 2015 Starters (and Restarters!)

Hi All,

I just started the Ideal Protein Diet. My first day was yesterday. I have over 100 lbs to lose! Thought that this would be a great thread for all April Starters & Restarters! :carrot:

Hello! I'm a restarter as of April 6th! Good luck you. This program really works when followed. I had a really bad headache on days 3 & 4 but it went away. Thank goodness. Also, on day 5 I was craving everything and almost gave in. Now that I'm on day 7, I'm feeling great and sleeping great. This first week may be tough but it's worth it.

Welcome to IP 3FC-style, MrsMaw and livinthelife. :)

It's great to have people band together in their own starting month, but do pop in to the Daily Chat threads if you want to ask questions and socialise with everyone - veteran and newbie alike.

Megan33 04-12-2015 09:40 PM

Hi everyone! I first did Ideal Protein in August 2012. I had AMAZING results! Lost 82 pounds in 6 months!!! Then another 4 months lost another 44 pounds. The program works but I didn't phase off properly. I have gained ALL my weight back plus 20 pounds! :-( I started IP again last Tuesday (4/7/15) and this time I'm going to phase off right! Hooray for us!!!!!

BetsyAnn 04-12-2015 11:24 PM

starting up tomorrow!

loriinwa 04-13-2015 12:47 PM

Newbie here and to IP. Just started today. So happy to find a support group! :)

dawnwhite58 04-13-2015 01:52 PM

Hello All, I am a re starter. Just like Megan I started IP in 2012. I lost a total of 80 lbs. in about 7 months. I wanted to lose 10 more but, I started cheating and never phased off properly. Over the last two years I have gained back 45 lbs and I am not very pleased with myself. I felt good for the first time in a long time. BUT, I am back and will do it again. This time I will phase off properly.

fiannalove 04-13-2015 09:34 PM

I'm going in tomorrow, so I will be starting this week sometime. Looking forward to the journey!

SusieCJ 04-14-2015 08:03 AM

Hello to All!

I just wanted to welcome all of the new IPers and wish you success!

MrsMaw 04-14-2015 01:10 PM

Hi All! Congrats to everyone that made the decision to start or restart this month!

I lost a total of 45 lbs with Medifast but I did not phase off. I just lost motivation due to the lack of variety in the food and flavors. I ended up gaining back everything I lost plus more.

Really excited about Ideal Protein though! Today is my 4th day on the program and I feel great! The ready-made chocolate drink is awesome!

What is your favorite IP food?

knm 04-14-2015 02:16 PM

Hey everyone! I've rebooted countless times, and I'm back for another! I reached my goal weight in March 2013 and didn't follow maintenance properly. I have had many successful weeks, but cannot stick to the plan on the weekend. This last weekend I finally made it through though, so hoping this is finally my time!
I've decided not to weigh myself at home, at least not yet. It becomes too distracting for me and can either make or break my day. Even at my coach's clinic I stand backwards on the scale so I don't look at the number (my scale has always read lower than her scale so I prefer to focus on that!). I would love to get to 120, but for now I'd be happy just to get back to 130. I know it's probably only about 10 or 12 pounds but man those are some pesky pounds!

BetsyAnn 04-14-2015 08:15 PM

day 2 and I am STARVING and shaking like a leaf...to be expected, I suppose.

Make sure you eat all your allowed food, and extra freebie veggies if you feel hungry. Get all your salt in and supplements - they are VERY IMPORTANT to be healthy on this diet. You'll feel better in a few days! Hang on!

Yay! So happy there's an April thread :) I just restarted yesterday. I did IP a while back and lost 20lbs in a month. I didn't phase off correctly, went back to my old habits and gained it all back plus some. So happy to be back on IP because I know how fast I can lose the weight! I will be going on vacation mid-June and hoping to lose about 30lbs by then.. We'll see how it goes :)
I will not be staying on plan during vacay since we're going to Hawaii for our honeymoon (after 9 years of marriage lol). But I will be right back to phase one as soon as I get back. I am debating whether I will do a mini phase off before my trip.. I just don't want to sacrifice any time I could be losing weight.

So happy to be on this weight loss journey with you all! It really works if you stay OP!

fiannalove 04-15-2015 02:41 PM

I'm on my first day. Doing ok, but a little sick to my stomach. I think it may have to do with the multi-vitamin. Those have made me nauseous, historically. May have to switch to a more substantial breakfast with the pill. Just did the cappuccino drink this morning.

I'm pretty excited about dinner tonight. Going to use this diet as an excuse to eat lots of scallops and other seafood. :)

Hey BetsyAnn! Stay strong! It will pass in a few days! Definitely load up on your unlimited vegetables! If you like tea - drink lots of decaf teas. I love decaf peppermint tea, it is very fulfilling and makes you feel a lot more satisfied!

Glad I'm not the only one to go on a honeymoon a few years after marriage! lol

Phasing off would be smart! But make sure you phase off and don't just jump into binge eating right from phase 1. Also - make sure you have enough foods so that you can jump back on the plan AS SOON AS you land! I think this probably makes the biggest different - how fast you're able to jump back into it.

I love the vegetable chili, bbq soy nuts, cappuccino drink, and caramel vanilla bars :)

I would definitely have more with the vitamin.. I have to some "real" food with it, not just a drink or I too get a little nauseous.

That is great advice, I think I will do a short phase-off before the trip.. Not the three weeks my coach wants me to do though. My coach before only had me do three days.. I'm thinking 3-7 days phase off and then yes, back on plan the moment I land! :carrot:

Ideallythin 04-16-2015 12:53 AM

Hello, I started IP at the beginning of the month, down 7 pounds the first week and I feel great! The first day I was so sick, second day I felt really out of it, then the third day I began to feel really, really good. I'm happy to join in the journey with all of you!

Congratulations to you both! Both of you did awesome the first week! :carrot:

I'm kind of excited about my first weigh in. I started last Saturday and my weigh-in day is Saturday.

How much water were you guys drinking?

pegeye 04-16-2015 09:42 AM

yay an april thread! I started my reboot april 10 so first weigh in tomorrow. finding it super hard to get all the food in though. this diet sure knocks down my appetite tremendously. but I drink almost 4 litres of water a day so makes sense. goal is to get to 260 by the end of June. Very doable on IP. good luck to everyone!!!

knm 04-16-2015 11:12 AM

Congrats to the fabulous weigh ins! And so nice to see everyone getting through the dreaded first three days! I stepped on the scale this morning, and that was a mistake. Hoping it has something to do with TOM, although in the past TOM has never had much of an effect on the scale for me... Oh well, I need to stay focused and motivated to get through this coming weekend! Crossing my fingers for that big whoosh everyone speaks of!

Wow! That is really great. I am on day 4. Had a LOT of fatigue and headache all day yesterday. Still not in ketosis...if the ketostick is accurate.
I cut out the milk in my morning coffee, so maybe that will help.

This board is AWESOME! I have found several recipes that I think will help keep me in compliance.

Still confused about everything. Unfortunately, my first meeting with my coach and for weigh in is tomorrow, so it will probably not be nearly as impressive as your results. After that, I will be on the right schedule for weighing in.

Thanks for the support everyone!

kmars4809 04-16-2015 12:01 PM

I'm on my first day today so very happy to find this group. Not a big fan of packaged food but I will try this. I would love to finally feel good about myself in a bathing suit.

jranz 04-16-2015 12:30 PM

I started on April 6th ...Im loving it so far but trying to find a cheaper way to get food :( has anyone tried the Ideal Weight Away products?

Kendall so happy for you!!!!! Keep going it is well worth it, even when it gets hard during some times, it will cycle through and get easier if you just keep going. You can do this thing.

Yeah, cutting out the milk will definitely help! We are only allowed 1 oz anyways, which is pretty much nothing.. lol

Let us know how your weigh in went!

Welcome to all the new IPers! Glad you are here! Let's all support one another!

Started April 13

Hi Everyone,
I started Monday, April 13th, so i'm on day 5. Day 3 was the worst for me- I think my blood sugar dipped. I had an extra shake and felt fine afterwards.
I had to travel for work day 2-3, which definitely adds a challenge to things, but I stayed on plan.
So far, I like the chocolate pre-made shakes, the chocolate powder shake, the chocolate mint bar (see a theme here?). I love peanut butter but don't love the krispy peanut butter bar and I will exchange the chicken noodle soup. I've just ordered some WF Syrup since my center doesn't have any, and look forward to trying the pancakes.

I think they key thing for me is to plan meals out a week ahead and find interesting recipes.

justmystats 04-17-2015 08:11 PM

Restarted 4/16. Need to drop 50lbs. Stay tuned...

TaraR 04-18-2015 07:55 AM

Hello all! Today is day 3 for me. So far I don't really feel bad at all and i don't know if that's good or bad. :?:

I have been drinking at least 64 oz/day at a minimum. Typically more, like 96+ ozs. Needless to say, I'm in the bathroom quite a bit!

Ideallythin 04-18-2015 04:52 PM

Tomorrow will be my 2nd full week on IP. I can't weigh in because we are out of town. I'm scheduled to meet with my coach next weekend so it will be a full two weeks without a weight check. I'm still feeling really good and confident that I've lost some more pounds. Even though I have a long way to go, I've received a few compliments about how I look like I'm losing weight so that is very encouraging. I truly love this diet!

Megan33 04-18-2015 10:54 PM

Had my first weigh-in on Tuesday, down 6 pounds. The first time I did this plan I sailed right along, it was soooo easy. This time around I am finding it VERY, VERY difficult!! I almost just had a binge, but I stopped myself amazingly enough. Stay strong!!!!!!!

fiannalove 04-19-2015 04:54 PM

I'm on day 5 now. Finding it a lot easier than the first couple of days. I ate 5 IP foods the first 2 days because I was STARVING, but that seems to have passed. Today I'm wondering how I'm going to get it all in. Not hungry at all. It's a Christmas miracle, seriously!

Congrats to those who had good losses the first week!

Samiam90 04-19-2015 09:30 PM

Started April 17

On day 3! It's hard, especially because I didn't fully realize how much I randomly snacked and grazed until I can't eat any of it...plus I've always been way more into fruits than vegetables. Researching recipes and hoping this will also help me make some new veggie friends! :carrot:
