Another idea for a 'drink' is a 'Mockito'... lime juice (only enough to flavour a glass of sparkling water) muddled with mint leaves, and a tiny bit of stevia if you need it. I have never been a sweet or creamy drink person, my favorites were always very tangy (Greyhound), or Margarita on the rocks with extra salt in it, or straight whisky or tequila anejo for sipping.
Nestle makes a great water enhancer called NesFruta (derived from real fruit) that is 0/0/0/0 for 1/2 tsp. The best tasting is Coconut Pineapple and no other water enhancers have that flavour. Makes a yummy sort of Malibu flavoured water, if you feel like you are missing out.:hat: Liana |
I'm in a state of shock. I just slipped and told my hubbie what my starting weight was. I never meant to do that. I haven't even told him how much I planned to lose! It literally just slipped out while talking about how my scales weigh differently from my clinic's scales. I was telling him that I use the number from my scales but I started keeping track using the numbers that my cardiologist recorded at his office back on Jan 14.
I told him I hadn't wanted him to know. But he just said that he's glad I decided to do something about it, that he had been worried about my future health. But, I never wanted him to know just how fat I had left myself become. The number is still devastating to me. |
It's almost ridiculous how afraid we are of people knowing our weight, I still cringe thinking about what I started at, even though it feels ok to tell people that I have lost 50lbs. I still don't want to say 'I started at...'
But frawniemae your husband loves you and if he's anything like my husband he's probably already forgotten the actual number :) the important thing is that you are getting yourself healthy. |

Your husband sounds like he was being supportive and happy you are making life changes. You are doing a great job and I continue to look at you for encouragement. Keep on keeping on, One Day at a Time |
Frauniemae - I just want to give you a great, big HUG! :hug: I'm not going to say I don't understand - I mean who of any of us would want to announce our weight! But, stop and think about this for a moment. This number is already past history girl! Be proud of this fact! This is not you anymore - and never will be again. So forget this momentary bit of embarrassment and concentrate on your new reality - you have committed to making a change in your health, you have taken control, you have your eye on the prize and you are not looking back! The only thing your husband is thinking is just how proud he is of you for taking action, and the only meaning that number will ever hold again is as a reminder of what you have achieved! :hug:

Oh. My. Goodness.
I hate, HATE, cauliflower. So I thought you were all liars when you were going on about how great riced cauliflower is, you liars! :nono: But I had a craving for Indian food and grudgingly decided to try to make chicken kabobs and Indian rice for dinner. Okay. You're not liars. :hug: |

Yes, cauli-rice kicks butt! Plus, your tastes are beginning to adapt ;) May I ask how you did your Indian rice? I made "curried rice" last week and it turned out pretty darn good (curry, cumin, salt, and a little bit of Patek Curry paste - about a tbsp) |

I love Patek's curry paste though! Used to make an amazing chicken curry with it... alas, my chicken curry was totally not OP. Maybe I'll experiment a bit this weekend... |

Liana - Hot Lime Pickle...hmmmm sounds fascinating - might peek at Wegmans or Global Foods for a jar. Can you marinate anything with it? |
Frawniemae :hug::hug::hug:
I agree with what others have said. You are not a number and you are not defined by what the scale says! What's important is you are changing your life for the better. And some of your changes will benefit your husband too. |

Day 28 if reboot while on a month stay at the beach. Dieting while on vacation has its challenges. We have company most of the month so while friends are having snacks and drinks by the pool I am just enjoying their company. Lol. I have to keep telling myself that it is worth it. I want to get back into all my cute summer clothes hanging in my closet. Couldn't wear them last year as they were a little snug. This past winter my wardrobe was very limited as nothing in my closet fit and I refused to buy a bigger size. I am not getting in that situation again. That is depressing. I have said this before all social events and life evolve around food. I just need to figure this all out to maintain my weight and stay social. I feel so much better without processed foods in my body. I have so much more energy. My skin looks better which makes me feel better about myself. I am 60 years old extra weight makes me look older and feel older. To me IP is a gift I cannot seem to lose weight on other diets as I am carb sensitive. I need to embrace this gift of losing weight and figure out how to maintain.
