Here's my question: my weight is up a little today (about a pound). I feel puffy. Is my body retaining water now because of the lack of fluids this weekend to flush out keto byproducts? And have I screwed up my metabolism (ie dropped into a 'starvation' setting)? Any thoughts/recommendations (other than drinking a lot of water today) to help me get back on track swiftly? Presumably I am still in ketosis, but I would have expected to drop a pound, not gain one.

Don't spend time worrying about it. There are a dozen solid reasons why this could happen. In most of us it's perfectly normal and just a fluid retention issue because of dehydration. Just make sure to drink plenty today and you'll expel any excess. If it's hormones it'll balance out naturally. Next time you get the urge to do so much physical labour, fill a water bottle and take a bar out with you.
Very unlikely that you have done any harm to your metabolism at all. If you could do damage in a weekend we'd all be screwed. :)

Hi everyone!
Now I understand why some people just don't attend special events. I attended my cousins wedding this weekend and boy was it difficult..I stayed on plan as much as I could. Stayed away from alcohol/desserts. But it definitley tested me lol. Thank goodness I had my fiancee with me who is on IP as well. The struggle was real!!
I did get a lot of compliments and I am fitting into older jeans better and better. I also tried on and ordered my bridal dress, can't wait to get it and have it altered.
Have a great week!

Congrats on facing your first major challenge and coming through it barely dented. That's such an achievement. :)
Fantastic that you will be needing your dress altered as the wedding date gets closer! That'll give you a huge amount of motivation to keep pushing through the days that you struggle on. Way to go! :)

NSV - I went shopping and I am down another pant size, and I am down a few inches overall. Feeling good entering Phase 2.
I hope everyone's week is OP and filled with scale and NSV :)

Oh DD ... I love your new pic. Girl, you look like one of those skinny gym divas! :) Congrats on the smaller size pants, too!

Hey y'all...I'm on day 7 of my second time on IP. First time was last summer and I fell off the wagon after about three weeks...not gonna happen this time! My wedding is in October and I refuse to let my weight ruin the day and the pictures! I want to look back and remember the joy, not cringe at how fat I was! There's of course the health side of this too, not just the vanity aspect. I'm 31 and my cholesterol is high, 216. I'm considered obese at my height and weight and I have about 12 lbs to lose before I am out of the "obese" category. Never thought I'd look forward to being "overweight"!
I handled the first few days on the IP protocol much easier than the first time. I guess my body was ready to jump back in. There are a surprising amount of recipes you can make that are easy and IP friendly. I recommend http://andoverdietcenter.com/ideal-protein/recipes. Not my clinic, but they recommended it too!

Welcome back then, and with a wedding to prepare for I know you'll stay the journey this time. You can do it! :)
There are so many great recipes out there - make sure you checkout Rainbowsmiles and Franniemae's recipes in the Rainbow thread (should be linked in the first post of the daily thread) as they have some awesome kitchen skills there!

I know you are right, Liana - I had hoped that I would get to 160 before the major slowdown would set in... most all weight charts say that 140 is the high end of the desirable weight range for my height, so I figured maybe that would dictate things more than my goal weight of 150.... if that makes any sense. :dizzy:
But no matter - it is what is. I just want to be sure I am doing all I can to drive thru to the finish. In all the diets I have done in my life (and there have been SO many), I have never reached goal weight.
I did meet my original goal to lose 50 lbs -- that was just before Christmas. But now we are talking a real goal that I might be able to live with and be happy about. I am in for the duration! :)

We're going to stick it out to the bitter end, Cheryl. We're like little mirrors with the weight number and the slowdown/go fast WIs. I keep looking at you and thinking "if she can do it, I can do it". We may not be the sprinters, but that finish line is in sight. Stay strong. :)

New approach today to IP Packet Muffins.... I finally found rhubarb in the freezer section at my local Safeway food store last week. So I bought 3 bags.
Today I defrosted one bag (3 cups) of the little pink cubes, gave them a squeeze for excess liquid (there was very little), ran them thru the Ninja to break em up a bit. Then I used 2 IP Potato Puree packets and 2 Wildberry Yogurt packets with the usual egg whites, baking powder, Stevia, vanilla, salt.... and I just finished eating 3 of the 12 after I finished my lunchtime salad. They are a bit chewier from the rhubarb - which I like cause they take a bit longer to eat - and the flavor came out great!
When diet boredom is hanging around your door, there is nothing like Fun with IP Packets!!!

Oh, I love rhubarb. It brings back all sorts of memories of childhood (when we had rhubarb growing in our sandpit and my parents kept yanking it out by the handful). I've been toying with making a rhubarb and chayote squash cobbler with the maple oatmeal, as a supper treat. Have to get that fired up for the weekend. :)

And be sure to stop by the Summer 2014 Starters thread - the June thru Sept gang and maybe a few others have banded together there -- we have lots of good results to share and good support.

Summer seemed a very busy period, and most of us are still hanging in there, doing our best to keep going day after day. Always nice to have more "voices" on the threads to share the journey with. :)

Holeee crap! Just reading the Life after Phase 1 threads from the stickies... going back to 2010. Phase 3 and Maintenance were sure made out to be complicated then. Things are so much simpler now. Glad I didn't need the diet in those years. All the measurements of stuff and only being allowed fats at lunch, and complex carbs at dinner, and always having to have a snack before bed. WHAAAATT! Snacking before bed is what got me/gets me into trouble in the first place. I say snack at your hungry time (mid afternoon for me)!
Eye opening for sure...
glad it's 2015.

I dipped my toes in that thread and was so daunted by how challenging it looked that I gave up and thought I'd figure it out when I get there, and by following the current maintainers thread.
Agree wholeheartedly with the snacking at hungry time - it's the only way I can stay sane. I'm a supper time snacker, too. It was a family habit when I was growing up, and I still fight to break the urge to eat then.
