Welcome Shazmatazz - I too have been lucky, all the times I've done IP I've never had crazy headaches before getting in ketosis. Lack of energy and hunger, yes, but that just means I go to bed early and have less time for any cravings to set in!

I didn't weigh myself on day 1, but I put 146 as my start weight as that's the highest number I've seen on my home scale.

I know some suggest not to weigh daily, but the last time I had success on IP I did weigh daily, and I think I need to just get back to the routine I was in that last time.

So far the week has been great. Had company over last night, so ate dinner earlier than usual. I was hungry after they left and considered having a snack, but managed to resist and just go to bed. Phewf!

Congrats to all of you seeing success and welcome to all the newbies and rebooters!

Awesome progress, knm! As for weighing daily, it's definitely a personal choice. If it works for you, then go with it!

And way to resist the call of the snack! :D

For those of you that began recently, welcome!

For those of us that started at the beginning of the month, WOOHOO! Nearly 3/4 through our first month! :carrot:

I fell off the wagon yesterday. I has whiskey with water though, as I read that it will not get you out of ketosis, and when I checked in the morning, the ketostix were still red. However, it is hard on the liver and not advisable

dickinsp 03-20-2015 09:23 PM

I am starting tomorrow, I had my first appointment today and bought the food for a week. How is everybody's progress?

Although whiskey is not high in carbs, there are calories involved and the liver stops processing fat to work on processing alcohol, so it will slow you down, just fyi ;)
There's an eye opening sticky on the main page of the IP Protein board about the "Real Cost of Drinking on IP"
Hop back on the wagon now.... we're waitin' on ya'! :bubbles:

Welcome! Congrats on making that big first step. I hope you got a decent variety of food--it can be a little hard to get used to at first, but you've got this! As for progress, I'm delighted with each and every pound I've lost. Not sure exactly where I'm at right now, because I have my weigh in tomorrow. But in my first two weeks I lost 9 lbs. Some drop faster, some slower, but the point is that it really works!

kirag 03-21-2015 02:21 PM

Thanks Liana, I will go read it...Definitely not worth drinking on the diet, I agree :)

Thank you! I took my before pictures today as I started it this morning. Hopefully in a few months I will have a nice after picture to compare! ;) I am glad to hear people do well in the program. I found out about it because my doctor recommended, so hopefully it will work. I quite enjoyed the snack, I had the garlic and herb crisps, so tasty! Tomorrow I am having the brownie for snack! hehe Doesn't feel so much as a diet as there are plenty of options of food available. I may have a different opinion a few weeks from now but so far it looks good.

WoodLily 03-21-2015 08:18 PM

I am on day 15 and down 7 pounds.
First 6 came off fairly fast and I know it was mostly water weight. I think even with only the 1 pound loss in the last week I have lost inches in my waist. I needed a belt on a pair of jeans that I could barely zip up two weeks ago.
I am looking forward to trying on my spring and summer clothes (if it ever warms up).

simplchaos 03-21-2015 10:19 PM

First timer, starting tomorrow. This will also be my first attempt at dieting. I've always chose exercise over dieting. But, having PCOS, it never worked. I have not seen a coach, so I'm going into this mostly blind and using alternative products. Hoping to find enough info here to be successful. I have some anxiety about giving up so many things I enjoy but if I want drastic results I have to do something drastic. So, here I go.

NowItsMyTurn29 03-21-2015 10:23 PM

New here!

Hello all, I am new to IP and trying to lose alll my baby weight plus some. I've spent the last 6 years being pregnant & all that comes with it that I've lost track of myself... well, now it's my turn! I would like to lose 42 pounds. I have tried literally every weight loss method out there, except for IP. I love how simple it is, no guessing games, just pick a packet and eat it! :carrot: The hardest things for me are the weekends and also eating all my kids leftovers  so hoping I have the will power to stick to it!!

IdealAnnie 03-21-2015 10:54 PM

Welcome, simplchaos and NowItsMyTurn29! You can do this! You'll find lots of support here. Many of us, including me, are doing lots of alternatives so we can help you with that (and the Daily/Weekend chat threads are full of people who know, like, everything). So glad you've joined us on this journey!

dickinsp 03-22-2015 12:16 AM

I have a question about unlimited vegetables. Cucumbers are both in select vegetables and unlimited vegetables list. Can I have one cup of asparagus, one cup of cauliflower plus unlimited vegetables? That's what I did today and I feel quite full. I had a plate full of spinach, cucumbers, and the one cups of select veggies. It's my first time doing ip and I do not want to do it wrong. Also, I used the the teaspoons of olive oil to stir fry the cauliflower and asparagus, is it ok?

Jonquil 03-22-2015 08:24 AM

Did my third weigh in yesterday. Down 3 pounds and 3 inches. That brings me to a total of 18 pounds and 13 inches lost. In only 3 weeks. After struggling for so many years, dieting and starving myself and exercising like crazy and *still* gaining weight, it's hard to believe these results. But I can already see them in the mirror, people are already saying I look like I've lost weight, and clothes that were too tight are loose now. I don't get to weigh in next week because my coach will be out of town, so we'll see what the scale (and the tape measure) says in two weeks.

Snackykat01 03-22-2015 10:00 AM

Ready to rev up

I've been on IP for a few months but lately just halfway. I am 10 pounds from goal and want to stick with it 100% until I reach the goal. Since I've been cheating a little will have the same headaches as in the beginning?

izzyboomama 03-22-2015 03:04 PM

Hi everyone! I'm starting tomorrow with alternative products and I'm really excited to see results! I have been doing portion control pretty successfully, but I'm getting to a point where I obsess with food, and with 140 pounds to lose, I don't want to be obsessing for a year. Plus a friend of mine is actually doing IP and she's had amazing results in her first month.
I bought my shakes and bars today and I can't wait to start!

I see your confusion, cucumber IS listed as select and unlimited, but according to others on this board, it SHOULD only be considered unlimited. Have them to your heart's content!

The opinions I've read on the board also state that stir frying in a little olive oil is fine and doesn't count towards your mandatory oil intake each day. I like my asparagus baked in a little bit of olive oil and some sea salt. Mmmm!

That probably depends entirely on your body responses and how much cheating you've done. Everyone responds a little differently. But you can do it! What's a few days of headache compared to how GREAT we're all going to feel at the end? :dizzy:

Welcome! Good luck, and keep that excitement! When times get tough, just think about how EXCITED you're going to be with a fresh restart on your lifestyle after Phase 1!

Having a great day so far!

I've been keeping track of my weight on a daily basis along with my food journal because I love data and looking for trends, but I'm about to throw up my arms in trying to predict my weight loss. I was dismayed to watch my weight remain within +/- .2lbs since my last weigh in all week, despite staying OP.

I woke up this morning feeling kind of weak and dizzy, but I weighed myself before grabbing my breakfast. No wonder I was feeling weak and dizzy, I had a 4lb whoosh overnight! All my weight loss seems to group up towards the weekend, which is alright by me! Can't wait until my official weigh in tomorrow! :D

Breakfast never tasted so good... :carrot:

Hey! Who got a ticker today? ME, that's who!

It's the little things in life, folks... :D

I'm eating Quest protein chips (just the sea salt flavor) with IP-friendly salsa. It's... well, weird. But good. And makes me feel like I'm cheating, because it's surprisingly like real food! Haha.

Happy Sunday, friends! Here's to beginning another awesome IP week!

Hey Annie, that's a swanky ticker you got right there. :P

What a great idea! I might make up some pico de gallo later this week for just that purpose! Thanks!

simplchaos,
You are in a good place here. I have learned so much in the last two weeks about IP and am also using the alternative method. Other diets did not work for me as most contained gluten in their products, which I cannot tolerate.

There are many tips on what foods are equivalent to IP products. My favorite is the EAS Carb Control shakes that fill me up and give me the protein I need. They are soy based protein, so they may not work for everyone. Good luck to you.

Hi everyone! It's Marie. First timer on IP and on this website but I've heard really great things about both. Long way to go weight wise but one step, one day at a time. Excited but nervous. Almost through day one and so far, so good (he, he, it's only been a day). Look forward to mutual support and understanding on here!!

Welcome! I (and many others) really like My Fitness Pal, which you can use on your computer and on your phone/tablet. There is a large database of foods that you can add just by scanning the barcode - I think most of the IP foods are already in there.

You can also adjust your carb/protein/fat goals to reflect IP settings and help you stay in ketosis. I've been using it for over a month now and it's been very helpful to keep me on track.

Good luck!

iowahawkeyemom 03-23-2015 08:16 AM

Starting IP again. It's been almost four years since I lost 37 pounds and now I'm back because I didn't finish the program correctly, and have gained most of it back.

Good luck to you. The first three days I had to keep very busy and out of my house to avoid thinking about food and eating my husband's stash of snacks.

I have a fitbit for daily step counts and use the app on my phone or computer to log food, but mostly I just keep a small spiral notebook for my entries. That works for me, but whatever you use it will help you keep on track.

Too funny I am the exact opposite if I am out I will grab junk that I do not have in my house. I just finished meal planning for the week and modifying my family meals was actually easier than I thought! Off to food shop now.

kirag 03-23-2015 12:57 PM

First month is almost done. Was easier than I thought

ChubbyChicky 03-23-2015 01:10 PM

Hello everyone. IP re-starter here. I was on IP for 6 months in 2013 and lost 40 pounds... had to stop because the diet was causing MAJOR hair loss (I had huge bald spots on my head :( ). I freaked out, didn't move to phase 3 or 4, and since then have gained all the weight back.

Had my first weigh-in today and lost 5 pounds. Using a combo of IP and alternative products. I'm so proud of everyone's progress on here and I hope it keeps me going too!

princessM928 03-23-2015 01:10 PM

I just started back up today. I did the IP program a few years ago and it was amazing. I'm not excited to get thru the first few days but I know I can do it. I didn't buy IP, I read thru these and bought other prodcuts. Looking for support and ideas!

Shazmatazz 03-23-2015 02:16 PM

Day 4 and I should be in ketosis, but I can't tell if I am or not. No one has complained about my breath, including my husband, who would be the first one, if that were the case. I can't tell if my pee stinks, ad I do have a funky whang taste in my mouth. Like a flatness, if that makes sense. Yesterday I did experience "mild euphoria," but more to the point, I had terrible muscle aches in my shoulder and arms. Like I had done strenuous exercise, lifted a bunch of weights type pain. I took 600 mg Advil and a hot bath and both helped. Residual soreness today but nothing like yesterday. Is this normal?

I have not cheated, have taken all supplements and drank all my water but I feel just as heavy as ever. I am worried I won't show a loss Wednesday, which will literally crush me and discourage me. I mean, I'll keep going but....

Any recommendations on IP food that actually tastes really great? I have had the oatmeal, beef stroganoff soup (YUCK), the veggie chili (is it supposed to be crunchy?), the sea salt chips, chocolate pudding, and some smoothie mix powder. The only foods I find tolerable are the chips, pudding and oatmeal. I full intend to trade the uneaten ones in and try other foods. Any suggestions?

I've never heard of body aches due to ketosis... maybe that's something to ask the more experienced members of the board, or better yet, your doctor.

marshacup 03-23-2015 03:28 PM

Weight in number 2 and I'm down another 5! That's 15 total in 2 weeks. And I'm still going strong!

New Here!

Hello, call me RAS
I am new to IP, and today is my first day. Like a lot of us we have been on this journey before in many forms. The only plan that ever worked in the past was 6WBMO, and I kept the weight off for 6 years. But here I am 6 years later still chasing those same numbers on the scale, but I am determined this time to make it to goal. I had never heard of IP until my cousin in CA, told me about how the ladies at her job were losing on this plan, and I said not another prepackaged plan. But after researching and watching a lot of youtube videos I decided to try it, so I started searching for it in my area and here I am. I was successful on the other plan because of the forums and the ability to chat with others on the journey, so I am glad I found this website. I want to lose about 40lbs, which seems like such a large number to me, but I am taking one day at a time. This time I am not going to allow others to tell me I am too small, I am going to continue until I feel good. I am looking forward to getting 1 week behind me, so I can start to see results like many of you have on this plan.[/COLOR]

IdealAnnie 03-23-2015 09:55 PM

So many new people over the last couple of days! Welcome, jenniferk525, iowahawkeyemom, ChubbyChicky, princessM928, and travelingras! (I hope that's everyone--sorry if I missed anyone!)
