I second what Amber is saying. There is a world of difference between the "gold standard" (read Premarin) and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. With everything, and not just hormone therapy, you and your doctor should be weighing risks versus benefits. For me, there is no question -- I will be on HRT for most of the rest of my life because I do not possess my little factories (ovaries) anymore and my adrenals were pretty much taxed to the limit. The problem I have with these studies is that there is one study *confirming one conclusion and then the next day, another study *confirms the opposite. It's a quality of life thing for me. I hope you can find your balance, Lisa!

Well, she's a pretty standard allopathic doctor and put me on premarin. I'm willing to start there. Every time I questioned, I got the standard "research doesn't support" answer. I'll continue my quest for a doc...

It is so hard to find a doc that fits for what you want and your viewpoints as well, we are lucky that ours has been with us for 33 years, but still - he is semi retired now and hasn't taken new patients for 20 years. So many things to think about and weigh. Hopefully the new docs work out for you gals.
I have been reading an awful lot about magnesium lately, I'm glad that I started to take more than usual almost 5 years ago after doing extra research on fibromyalgia. It definitely does amazing things for the energy pathways of the mitochondria.

Liana that’s great to hear about Magnesium - what form do you take it in?

Grateful: I added 500 mg total of Magnesium Malate & Mag-Glycerophosphate with some Mag-Oxide to my usual CalMag. No 'poopie problems' because it is not fully Mag-Oxide. The other kinds make it easier to absorb, so I am not 'tied to the toilet.' lol The range of vitamins I buy have all been certified Gluten Free so I don't have to worry about that part of it either.

Oooh, that is good to know. I use Natural Calm, but it does tend to have a laxative effect.

I'm back from my weigh-in. I am at goal on her scale (!) and I will be on Phase 2 for one week and then onto the gigantic breakfast phase! I simply cannot believe I'm here. I started February 14 and here I am at goal, 17 weeks later. Uh.Mazing.

I am a little nervous phasing out, but I trust the program and if there's anything I know how to do from my previous diets, it's *maintain* my weight. Hee hee.

I hope you all are doing well and fine!

I added this image. From left to right, me at start, in the middle, and yesterday, at goal.

Hi All!
I hope you are enjoying this lovely weekend. I had my first weigh in on Thursday and I lost 7.2 pounds- and I could not be happier. I realize that this kind of loss will slow down considerably- but it was just the jolt I needed to convince me that I can do this. I would like to lose 25 more pounds. I have faith that with this program and my continued efforts- it will happen.
