Hi everyone!!

This is my first post ever! I've been watching this forum since I started IP two weeks ago. You all have been lifesavers through a very rough start (starving, headaches, no energy, general feeling of hatred for people eating pizza.)

I already lost 5.5 pounds in week 1. I weigh in this evening and I've been really good all week long. Fingers crossed!

Welcome!
You can find lots of great advice from people who started before you. Check in on the Daily Chat. Lots of great info there.

I don't know how I'd have had the success I've had without this forum

Hi, just starting on week one, first try at a diet of any kind, as well as first try at a forum of any kind. Looking forward to chatting with people, and learning.

Default New to IP alternative diet

Hi there,

New to the idea of an IP diet and new to forums!

I'm quite interested in the Ideal Protein diet, but cannot afford the initial costs or take time to attend the weekly meetings with my current schedule. I read a few blogs/forums and spoke with IP participants and it sounds like I can be a part of the IP trend using alternative products bought online and in stores.

Just wondering what other's thoughts are on this?

thanks!

Nice start. You've got the worst part over and done with now, so it should be smoother from here on.

There are lots of alternatives threads here. Do you come in directly to the Ideal Protein forums rather than going through the main 3FC page? If so you'll see lots of people are doing alternatives either for the cost or as an alternative to soy. They make adjustments as they go and seem to lose around the same amounts as the IP only folks.

As Lisa says ... hop into the daily chat thread, because you never know what subject is under discussion and it may be something you're interested in.

Default IP newcomer

Good afternoon!
I have been on IP since the first week in August. 28lbs down, can't complain! Have found this site useful for support and recipe ideas so I though I should finally joined. I track through MFP but find 3FC to have more ideas and discussions.
Thanks for all your help thus far!!

I've been on the protocol for 6 months. For 3 months I used IP products exclusively. Since then, alternatives. Read through the "Alternative products that will work with IP" thread and you will find lots of information to help you. There is a sticky in the Daily Chat (1st post each day by Lisa) that will take you directly to that thread. There has not been a slow down in losses for me. Using alternatives is totally doable.

This is my third crack at IP. The first two times I lost a combined 45 lbs in 4 months which was fantastic. However after 4 long years, I have decided to return to IP and am determined to keep the weight off this time. Maintenance is EVERYTHING! Which I've now learnt.

I have some big goals ahead of me, but I am determined to reach every one of them. I remembered using this site 4 years ago and it kept me motivated and on track!

I am excited to get started as I am on day-3 with no-cheats yet. Yipee!

Hello, I am new here. I have been lurking for several weeks. I am doing alternatives. Today is day 3. I am still learning. Today I tried to warm a quest bar in the microwave still in the wrapper! Not a good idea.

Hi, I'm new, just finishing my first week. I weigh in tomorrow, excited because I feel good and have had a good week. I have to say the first week has not been too hard, a little hunger/cravings but I overcame them. I have tried many diets out there and feel optimistic that this is the one that will get me to my goal. I have been reading many threads, grateful for the support and recipe ideas. I have 40 lbs to lose.

Am I allowed restricted items on Phase 1? My coach said those were not allowed until phase 2 but I feel they would be good to have around just in case.

Also, I guess I can't post a signature for 20 days, is that still the case?

Welcome!

Your coach is incorrect - the program is set up for us to have 1 restricted item per day. For a reason I cannot understand, coaches seem to alter the system (whether it's because they are not fully trained, or because the think tweaking it will somehow make it work better, I don't know). But per the official Ideal Protein protocol you are allowed 1 restricted item per day.

And yes, you need to be a member for 20 days and post 20 times before you can add a signature. But you can post and respond on the forum anytime!

Hello All,

Hi! I'm Sally! I'm starting my fifth week on IP. I was 206 at the start and was last weighed in at 187. I went down 6lbs the first week, 6.5 the second, then 2lbs in week 3, and 4 pounds last week. I guess that's about 19 pounds right there.

I've been watching and reading for over a month now, but haven't said hello until now.

I hate to say it, but I don't feel all that different. My pants are a little smaller, but I don't see myself as having lost any weight. My coach is fairly new at her job and isn't as helpful as I'd like. She gets me in and out of appointments in less than 5 minutes. No "Good job" or "Hey, it's okay it was only 2 pounds this week; You'll get 'em next week, champ." You all are the best(/only) support I have. So please keep posting and I'll keep reading!
