I can't believe that as the last couple of days haven't been easy. They haven't been torture but I've had moments of hunger, shakiness and extreme sweating (especially right after I eat an IP food). It will all be worth it if I lose some decent weight, but if I stay the same it's not.

I weigh around 200 and plan to lose 30 - 40 lbs., 30 - 35 is probably more realistic as I have a large frame and am very muscular.

I can't eat gluten so am restricted on what foods I can have and so far like the butterscotch pudding the best. I wish I could have those chip thingys!

I am peeing like mad so was surprised that I hadn't dropped more :?:.

:welcome2: Adventuregurl I also just started IP diet, try not to get discouraged  and try not to focus on the "how much" you're losing because you can also be losing "volume" so you've probably have lost inches ;) Hang in there! You mentioned butterscotch pudding, yum, I'll give that a try, today I tried the Dark chocolate pudding, and I really didn't like it :( Good luck to you, and please come and share your successes with us :D

Hi all,
Starting IP tomorrow and am both anxious and excited to get this weight off once and for all. Any tips for getting through the first few days. Super busy at home with 3 kids out of school and I know I won't be feeling my best during the initial adjustment.
Glad to have found this community!

Welcome twinmom! Make sure you get all your salt, oil and supplements in - they are so important. And be easy with yourself the first few days, it's a big adjustment both mentally and physically going into ketosis. After the first week or so you'll feel so much better though!

And plan. Especially with a hectic schedule doing some planning and food prep ahead of time so you always have the food you need ready to go is a lifesaver. Prep veggies and meat ahead of time, stash extra packets in your purse, car, etc. so you never get caught without something OP if your plans change or your food gets left on the counter on your way out the door.

Finally, make sure you get all your water in - it's really important.

Good luck and hang in there - after you get through the first few days it really gets easier.

Are you getting all your oil, salt, etc. in? I found if I started skimping on oil, salt, water, etc. I seemed to slow down.

With a relatively small amount to lose, your loses may be slower than someone who starts out heavier but hang in there, the weight will come off. I know it's hard, but try not to compare your loses to others - everyone is different and their bodies will let go of fat at different rates.

Congrats on getting through the first few days! There are several people who are gluten free on this board and you should be able to get some ideas from them too.

Checking in

Hello all, I've been away from home for a couple of weeks. I visited my son in AR for a while. I did pretty good staying OP. Before I left I was down 14 pounds in three weeks.:carrot::carrot::carrot: My weigh in day is today, but I'm gonna forgo it today. I have plenty of product, so I will be going to weigh in next week. I don't feel I get the support there that I need. I am having to do this with the help of this forum and my own determination. I still have about thirty pounds I want to lose. I know that this is the tools I need. I just have to remain focussed on the prize (a smaller jeans size) It will come. I didn't get this big overnight, so it will take a while to get where I need to be. I hope everyone is having a great day... :D

Hi Adventuregurl,
I'm in my second week of IP. Sorry that there are products you won't be able to eat since you are gluten-free. I'm not sure which those are, but even with the whole spectrum of products, I was at first wondering how I was going to have variety in my meals. When you think about buying 3 boxes of product of week, it begins to seem like you will be eating the same things every day for the week.

I became very excited after I started realizing that, for example, the chicken soup could be so many things. It can be plain chicken soup, but it can also be broccoli soup or asparagus soup. Vanilla pudding packets have not only made pudding, but they've made pudding cakes. I made 4 batches at a time, so that in the evenings, I can have my snack with no mess or clean up required.

I would encourage you to scour the recipe threads for ideas to transform the packets. Best of luck!

Thanks so much for the encouragement and support Ruth Ann, Ariel13 and Twinmom. I get weighed in tomorrow so we will see.

I was severely constipated despite the laxative but finally went and am now so much happier, and perhaps lighter :D! Do any of you take the IP laxative everyday? I don't even need one when eating my own usual way (which is lots of fat ;))

Today I was so hungry and after dinner I now feel great and realized that I forgot to eat one of my IP foods! They told me to eat 4 per day.

How much oil do you eat? I am having the oil and the salt and have forgotten a couple of the supplements and stopped the calcium until I could get my bowels to move.

I feel like I'm drinking a ton of water but am trying to increase it.

You are all so inspiring to me

PS what are pudding cakes? I have to live on pudding and some drinks due to my gluten allergy :( I like the butterscotch and might just have that and that alone until I can't stand it anymore. What I'd give for some of those chips!

I did IP a couple of years ago but went back to crappy eating so here I am again. Today is day 3 for me. I don't mind eating the same thing over and over. I love the shakes and some of the fruit drinks, as well as the chicken soup. Didn't buy any of the bars or snacky type foods this time, although I probably will eventually. Feeling pretty good but am still craving sweets and feeling overwhelmed by the 60+ lbs I need to lose.

The Gluten free IP foods list is on the 'Bad Headaches" IP thread.
I have to be GF too Adventuregurl, so I can help you out a lot with choices and 'advice.' Westwillow who is a new maintainer is also GF - so she can give you some pointers too. There is more than just pudding and drinks, lol. You should get your own vitamins though, as IP could not guarantee GF for their supplements when my clinic asked head office.

They are little cakes made from packets of pudding. I have only tried vanilla, but I think others have tried almost all the other flavors. Because of the egg whites, to me, they have a little flavor and consistency of a French cruller. I do like them because they become an easy RTF snack. For me, I make 3 cakes per packet, and I store them in 3s in sandwich bags in the refrigerator. I like them better cold the next day rather than hot out of the oven. Also, I am very gentle with them working them out of the pan.

Here is a recipe from jennydoodle:

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-In a blender, combine (2) egg whites, (1) t. vanilla and 2 oz. of water. Blend well
-Pour liquid contents into a bowl, and gently fold in pudding packet. I usually add a little powder, mix it up, add a little more, etc... The final result is a "batter" similar to brownies. And yes, I lick the bowl and spoon
-To bake, I use (2) small corning ware dishes, you could also make them in a muffin tin, and divide them into (3) equal muffins. I spray the bottom of the dish with Pam so the cakes won't stick.

The cakes will get VERY large while baking, and will deflate when cooling. If you put too much batter into a small baking dish, your cakes will literally explode in the oven. It is VERY important to only fill the baking dish or muffin tin 1/2 way. Which is why you will get 2 small cakes or 3 muffins.

-Bake at 350 for 15-16 minutes. Let cool and enjoy a mini cake.

(2) notes:
1). I have only tried this with Lemon, Butterscotch and Vanilla puddings. They have all turned out excellect! I haven't tried with Chocolate because I don't really care for the chocolate pudding, it is very chalky to me.
2). If you are making the cakes in a muffin tin, fill the empty muffin "holes" with water so that the cakes bake evenly.

Hi Liana,

I can't find the 'Bad Headaches" IP thread, could you direct me to it?

What choices did you eat to lose weight?

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I only lost 2.5 lbs my first week and followed to a T :(.

Adventuregurl 08-15-2014 08:16 PM

Thank you for the recipe LoseToWin ;)!

Here's the link... about 1/2 way down the first page of the thread. :D

Thank you Liana.

Would you mind sharing what you ate? I do like the soups but don't really like the omelet.

Adventuregurl 08-16-2014 04:33 PM

Liana, I found the list, I have it too but wanted to see if yours was different as I have seen conflicting things even under the IP logo.

My list does not include SW Cheese curls (and my shop doesn't carry them, so they may be discontinued), and Chicken Dijonnaise and Beef Stroganoff can only be used to replace a cooked meal (which I enjoy so don't want to miss, and my shop doesn't carry them) and then the Chocolaty Raspberry bar (which is delicious) can only be eaten once a week :(. For some bizarre reason the White Cheddar Curls make me sweat profusely after eating them so I must have an allergy. I really don't like the omelets at all, so I guess it's all liquids for me.....bummer!

I am starting to wonder if all this fake food will even work for me - there is also a fair bit of sugar in some of the items (for me as I am sensitive to it).

I may try the alternative foods!

Thanks again!

Welcome! Come back to 3FC regularly and check out the daily thread -- a good place to post your questions, and the Home of 100% - a good way to hang out with IP'ers who demonstrate that this program works!
