Good morning all -

Has any experienced slow weight loss this early in the program. My second week I lost .5, and my third week also .5.... very discouraging, since i'm following 100% OP.

You are getting really close to a normal BMI.
I'd expect the losses to be slower.

I'm interested to hear about this too. I've bought some but haven't tried it. I've heard that if it contains calcium, it's counterproductive to its effectiveness.

So, I think I know what one part of my issue might be. Occasionally when i'm making a larger meal, like a tenderloin, I weigh my meat after its cooked. Does anyone know how many additional ounces I may actually be eating?

sarahBell 01-31-2014 02:28 PM

I gained this week. I gained 1.9 lbs :( I am just so mad at myself this week :(

Last night I walked /jogged 45 mins on the ellipitical and I did have an EAS shake after that making that a 4th for the day......was that a no no I did?

WildDaisy 01-31-2014 03:28 PM

skinnybride2be and vivig, my losses are also excruciatingly slow, and I'm on my third week as well. :( I know my average weight loss over three weeks is really good, but my first week I lost 10 lbs, which I feel like was a fluke. I'm starting to think I'll lose .5-.9 a week on average if I'm lucky... I just don't know. I'd be thrilled with those results on a "normal" diet, but this one is sooo hard and so restrictive (not to mention pricey), so I'm getting kind of discouraged.

I didn't stick to the plan 100% this week - I slipped up once and had a few bites of cheese, and I don't always get in my 4 cups of veggies. I also eat a lot of Splenda and I wonder if that's holding me back. It's hard, but I'm trying to stick with it and stay positive.

So, I'm in the same boat as you guys!! At least we can support and encourage each other :^:

here's the deal about ketones and ketostix:
Our bodies get more efficient at burning the ketones and then we stop excreting them in urine. Who knows? Maybe exercise helps this process.
Anyway, toss the ketostix and stick with the plan. If you're OP, you're in ketosis!

Lisa, your information is very helpful. Im thinking that i have a case of the "bad coach" and unfortunately she is the only one within two hours of me.

She's told me intense exercise is fine and to just add either an extra egg white or an extra packet of food daily. She is also the one that encouraged me to get the ketosis sticks and told me to use one every three days. Last time I went in for weigh in i asked about the meal replacement shakes (so you dont have to eat the two cups of veggies), and she encouraged me to buy those as well for convenience. Im still phase 1, and read somewhere that the meal shakes arent allowed until phase 2 i believe.

Im feeling very mislead!

I would cut down on the Splenda. Each packet has 1 gram of carbs - that adds up. I ate a lot at the beginning but slowly cut it down.my clinic says no more than 5 WF servings per day. My coach said to count each Splenda packet as a WF serving. So if I have 2 WF serving - I can have 3 Splenda.

Your first week loss are never going to hold true in future weeks. It is important to eat all your veggies and follow the plan 100%. Slip ups will derail you and slow your progress. I understand it being pricey. I am single and it is very tough financially for me to be on this diet. I use that as one of my motivators.

I know it is a strict program, but it works. Try following 100% fora week or two and see what happens.

I know you can do it. Use this forum and all the tools available to you.

You are suppose to add another packet if you are doing exercise, so that was fine

The shakes are not to replace veggies at all, you need both. Four cups of vegetables total per day (from a limited list of options), normally split up two cups each at lunch and dinner. The "shakes" come in a variety of forms and flavours and may not be drinks at all, there are different options. In a nutshell you need three packets a day, only one of which can be a "restricted" variety.

I worked out pretty aggressively last week and saw a gain. I did not cheat- I added a packet for recovery. Remember, it takes calories to gain actual fat. I'm sure it was water retention. Remember also that if we burn too many calories, your body goes into starvation mode, which at that point will not burn the food you're eating! Take the working out slow!

No, i understand that. But apparently for phase 2 and beyond there is a replacement shake that is available which is a FULL meal replacement.

*My gain did not reflect at my official weigh in, just on my scale at home. At that point I stopped, and saw losses at official weigh in.*

It could be water retention, I never thought about that. I ate kinda krappy this week too! so se la vie.

I have been following this diet 100% and am a little discouraged. Had my weigh in and had lost 1.4 lbs. this week which totals 10.8 pounds in three weeks on the diet. I started on 01/07/14.

Am I on the right track? Should I continue? I am traveling this weekend to celebrate my parents 54th wedding anniversary. So there may be a cheat but my intentions are not to cheat.

Thanks for all your invaluable information and support.
I read MUCH more than post!
Have a wonderful weekend

I think that loss is great! I hope I have that much gone on Tuesday when my third week ends. I don't think I will.....
