Last night, my husband and I met with our architect and builder for the new house we are building...just as soon as we sell the one we have now.

Doesn't matter about selling because I am so excited about this new one, designed for when we are 'empty nesters'. Our architect is great at listening to who we are and what we say, then incorporating that into the design.

So between that and our big anniversary, we have eaten out two nights in a row and will again tonight when we entertain our son's soon to be inlaws. I am getting good, really good at ordering just what I need.

Applebee's Restaurant has been super to work with. They have an under 550 calorie menu. I order the salmon, naked. I ask for a great char on it but no butter, no sauce. The salmon comes on a bed of potatoes and veggies, so I asked for double veggies, steamed, no potatoes. The waiter actually asked me what vegetable I preferred and he said he would get them. What a great meal it was to enjoy, totally IP. Good tip for that young man, who smiled as it made it all right all evening!

Ruth Ann 01-30-2014 08:46 AM

How exciting about the new house schenectady! We plan on building at some point and I swear there are going to be no flat surfaces anywhere in the house - every flat surface here becomes a clutter collector!

And WTG on the eating out!

shrinkingsusie 01-30-2014 08:59 AM

Good morning, stopping in quick before work to report I am down 2.4 for week 29 weigh in!!

Have a good day everyone, will check back after work!

nolasmurf 01-30-2014 09:05 AM

Morning all. The last few days I have felt so bloated and gassy. When I wake up I'm starving. Not sure what's going on. I did eat out several times over the weekend so I'm beginning to think I kicked myself out of ketosis :(
I didn't eat off plan but I did have a drink. And of course prepared foods are always so hard to judge. They could have slipped some butter or something in.
Hopefully the bloat goes away before weigh in.

The weather is warming quickly so work should be back to normal. The tourists can get flights home and our locals can get out of the house.

Saturday is the fashion show. I'll be sure to get a few pictures to share. :)

Have a good day

Good Morning everyone what a difference it makes to staying on track when you check in on the site everyday. I am officially at 207 today that mean 8 pounds from wonderland. I need real emotional help, I know myself and when I get close to something I really want I tend to sabatoge it.....I am working really hard emotionally on not doing this and staying on track...I have decided when we go to my friends for the superbowl I'm going to buy a rotissery chicken and debone it and take it a container to make sure I have something I can munch on....I'm also thinking about making buffalo cauliflower bites....although the recipe I found has butter in it I think I will skip it I think that is where the carbs are coming from....
Good luck to all on this IP journey, I've learned I don't care what anyone else thinks this is about me and their opinion about what and how I'm doing this is their business I like this pass and it is working for me....
Thanks to all of my IP friends you are all helping me accomplish this weight loss journey with confidence and the ability to get rid of the extra fat and weight I have been carrying for the last 17 years.....

ems70508 01-30-2014 09:29 AM

Morning! schenectady congrats on your new home! My coworker is building as well and she is really enjoying the experience! Congrats on the eating out as well! I know when I go out to eat, I always feel out-of-control. It's so nice to have wait staff help.

Susie, you really are shrinking! It's amazing.

Nolasmurf, I'm so ready for that warm weather. I think I'll take my eno hammock to our family farm on Saturday. I may even wear shorts! haha!

I weighed in this AM, lost 1.4 which put me at 70.4lbs lost! So glad I made my mini goal! Getting my hair hilighted after work this evening as my reward.

You can do it! Recognizing a pattern & preparing yourself is half the battle. To get this far, you already have built up considerable "muscle" in making the good choices. I say take the mental leap into Onederland NOW and allow your body to follow.

In my first week of IP, I came home to find a surprise huge platter of fresh Italian pastries on my doorstep, flown directly from a famous bakery in NYC. I reached inside myself and groped around for the strength to stick with my goals, not postpone them for the fleeting pleasure of the treats. Then it was surprising how easy it was to give them away (I did have to lock them in my car trunk for the moment). YOU are stronger than the Superbowl! :carrot:

coffeebean 01-30-2014 09:33 AM

Starting week #5 of reboot. The reboot is also reminding me that we can eat out and be social but also stay on plan. Going on a trip Saturday where it is warm, for 5 days, just tried on my summer clothes. I was quite surprised how well they fit. Goal on this trip is to try and make healthy choices but not beat myself up if not. Staying with relatives so that will be a little more difficult than eating out. I will do the best I can and get back 100% OP when I return.

drd1961 01-30-2014 09:37 AM

Morning. Feeling much better today. Almost zippy!

Butter does not kick you out of ketosis, it has no carbs.

We are getting snow this weekend, yipee....not.

Wow - that is a huge amount and you are doing so well. Congratulations. You must feel on top of the world! It is great that you are doing something non-food with which to celebrate. You will have something fun an lovely to see in the mirror when you get back. Smaller and more chic!

Vippysue 01-30-2014 11:52 AM

Broke into the 150s this morning! Goodbye 160s.....forever!

djs06 01-30-2014 01:45 PM

schenectady, congratulations on the new house! How exciting to design your dream home!

shrinkingsusie, vippy, and EMS, great weigh-ins! Keep up the great work! :cheer:

nola, maybe you're headed for a nice loss with the hunger (butter doesn't have carbs so I wouldn't worry about it. It's extra fat, not totally ideal, but nothing to really worry over if it's not an everyday thing.) I get random hunger too- usually I'm fine, but every so often I'm 90% of the way to gnawing off an arm. The other night I had a hot chocolate packet, which was my 4th of the day but I figured it was better than eating something off plan, which I felt tempted to do because of my hunger. Just keep plugging away, hopefully tomorrow will be easier!

Coffeebean, visits can be tough, but I'm sure you can get through it! Enjoy your visit!

stefnrod 01-30-2014 01:49 PM

which is better the IP Pancakes or the pancakes made from crispy cereal? gonna buy more food tomorrow I want some pancakes. YUM

ems70508 01-30-2014 01:57 PM

finale, schenectady, and djs06 Thanks! It's a great accomplishment. I couldn't have done this without the support from 3FC.

I like the crispy cereal pancake. It fluffs up nicely.

Had my WI today and I am down 1.2 pounds and 2.75 inches lost. I'm happy with each successful week! (see...I'm not going to use the "o" word :) )

I saw others already spoke about butter not kicking you out of ketosis. Fats won't do it but carbs will. If you've been eating out, there are likely hidden carbs in something. That could be causing the gas/bloat also.

No carbs in butter. It is a fat.

Hi All...been "offline" more than on this week...but have been trying to keep up...SOO much happening! Most of it good I'm glad to see.

Happy Anniversary to Schenectedy...and congrats on your wt. loss AND the house plans!

Ruth Ann...you are doing great holding steady...and we all agree...the prize is already yours for hanging in there! The 100 lb mark WILL come...to both you AND Lisa.

Seems the weather had a fun time keeping most of the south in an uproar this week...glad that's over for everyone, but those impacted are surely even gladder!! We may hit 40 degrees here on Saturday...that would be amazing! Layers of snow have been around since before Christmas...READY..be gone with it!! Groundhog day is approaching...can spring be far behind??

Missing the time to chat with y'all.. but finally have our family vac 90% booked...as it turns out my sisters are planning a "Sisters" vac in the same area we are traveling to with a start date a few days after we were scheduled to leave. So looks like I'm going to get 18 days, back to back in the Caribbean in June. My husband and I decided we'd stay until they arrive...then he will return home and I will go to the other resort for another week! Only have 1 bathing suit that still fit back in September...so think I'm going to need more than 1 for almost 3 weeks!

Looking forward to getting caught up on the reading here....

I think the Pancakes are restricted, so making pancakes out of the cereal will save you a restricted. I never had the pancakes, but loved the cereal made into pancakes with the WF syrup. I actually liked the cereal as cereal too!

Yall are talking about carbs so I thought I'd jump in and share what i've been packet hacking. I'm going to go post it in the recipe thread but it'll get seen by more here and stored there!

*Acquired this recipe from the Incredible Weight Loss Center*
Artisan Bread
Potato Puree
1 egg
1tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 ounces of water
seasoning to taste ie: garlic powder, basil, oregano, etc
*packet already has seasoning so be careful not to over-season!

preheat to 350, spray with pam and spread thin. bake for 20 mins or brown and toasty. So delish!

Ems - I've found that bread works best if baked in a glass pie plate. It doesn't seem to stick near as much as using metal.

Im just curious, does anyone know if exercising will knock you out of ketosis? I know it seems silly, but up until the past few days Ive been getting a dark purple on my ketosis sticks, and now im showing no ketons, the only thing i can possibly think of is the exercising ive been doing?

Im doing T25 by Shaun T.

I know there's a lot of question whether or not intense exercise should be done, but the place my coach is located, they also have personal training there and do beachbodies Insanity (shaun t) and I had asked if i could do that training while on this diet and she said I could as long as I added an extra packet daily. Shes now out of town for surgery, so i cant get a hold of her to ask

when are you using the keto sticks? If you are drinking lots of water and use them during the day, they can be inaccurate. Best time is first thing in the morning and they say that after you have been in ketosis for awhile, you won't have as many ketones in your urin.

I seem to get higher readings of ketones after drinking a lot of water as opposed to first thing in the morning. It's a bit weird...

here's the deal about ketones and ketostix:
Our bodies get more efficient at burning the ketones and then we stop excreting them in urine. Who knows? Maybe exercise helps this process.
Anyway, toss the ketostix and stick with the plan. If you're OP, you're in ketosis!

Exercise should not knock you of of ketosis. Ketones are produced from the breakdown of fats, so if you have no carbs in your body to burn when you exercise, ketosis should be enhanced. (Carbs will be used first, then fat.)

Are your ketostix stored according to the package instruction, not outdated or lid loose? If they are valid, my thought would be that due to increased energy demand, you might now be burning more ketones for fuel that your kidneys were previously spilling into your urine. Or your body is just getting better adapted to burning ketones over time so less are going out in the urine.

Are you certain it's NO ketones? My coach told me as long as there is ANY degree of positive, doesn't matter whether it's a large or trace amount.

Got my team for the Biggest Loser contest at work pumped up. We weighed in today and pow wowed on strategy . 4 out of the 5 team members are doing IP, so we're all sharing tips and tricks to power thru. The contest ends 4/1 but between now and then our well coach will be doing fitness and nutrition seminars to keep ppl motivated. She's asked our team to present he IP program and I believe she's going to contact an actual IP coach(not my former one) to come in as well. She's pretty fired up about the program. Our team is going to win and share our success!
