Darbs - we were OP initially at the same time.... you must be heading back to school soon. I start next Monday - boo hoo. Although I love my job, I also love my summers!

I must have been in a reboot with you...my initial lost of in September of 2010, went into maintenance in February of 2011 and have done too many to count reboots since...but regardless, good to have support to work with.

Dakin: it was good to hear from you. I started school yesterday and it is always nuts for the first month. The good thing about IP is that it does work and you know you will lose those pounds! I find that posting helps me be accoountable and focused.

Dregan: I got one son off to college and one more will go in two weeks. Good job on making it through your first summer in maintenance! I have been loving the summer vegetables and fruits also. Things taste so much better when they are fresh. I definitely will miss them in the winter.

Patns: are you starting school? Hope you are doing well.

Jelliemae: I was sorry to hear about your breakup. I also remember you doing roller derby. Good luck on your reboot with IP. The good thing is that you know it works.

Darbs: You have kept 50 pounds off! You sound focused and on track for reaching your goal again.

Ishbel: I am all for getting rid of the Tsunami panic attacks..small waves are definitely better. You are right about the process being important and not the event. That is wonderful that you have stayed in the same range for one year and 5 months. You are doing well. I still have small waves when I look at myself and think am I really thin? In Refuse to Regain she recommends that you hang your tightest jeans in front of your closet and that you try them on each day as motivation.

Bellamack: I hope your reboot is going well. Thank goodness for Phase 1.

Have a great day maintainers!
You have done a wonderful job of keeping it off, congrats....this maintenance stuff is tough. So far 2 and 1/2 years in maintenance. This is the furthest I have fallen. But six days in and feeling great.

Maile: I got my hatch chilies yesterday and have some in my salad today. Not really a P1 fppd but I think it will be ok.

Good suggestion to measure the nuts. The truth is, I want to eat several of the 100 calories portions.

Darbs7: I am glad your 6 days in is going well. Yes, this maintenance is tough.
The fact that you are still committed to maintenance after two and one half years and continue to work on it, is inspiring. I have my poster at my desk at work .."You can crumble or you can conquer" which I look at on unmotivated days. Thanks for your support!

Workingmom: One of our grocery stores orders hatch chilis from New Mexico and then sets a roaster machine. You can get fresh roasted chilis..which I then freeze. I think Hatch chilis are legal for P1 as you can have green peppers in P1.

The first month of school is definitely going to be crazy. Plus my gym is closed for a week. I also am moving my son this weekend.

Yes, I am stressed!

Hope everyone has a great week of maintenance!

darbs Yup, I'm still hanging around, posting on here keeps me accountable it appears! I'm a little less posty lately but work is a zoo! Got hitched since you last seen me I think. !

Jelly Welcome back, sorry about your break up, life can get in the way, you'll rock it again! I too am interested to know if you're still doing derby?

Lizz Sending you caring thoughts girl...hope everything is well with you!

DRegan mmmm fresh farm veggies...even have the VIP eating some boiled spinach (sorry like that better then a spinach salad) straight from the garden! SO with you on the yumminess of it!

Dakin Welcome back, summer is tough I agree!

LizzyI know I know! I get it, it's just that some days lately it's +33 outside and I won't put the AC in my office on and drink warm lemon water. I can't see me eating ice cream in the cold if I can't stay warm when it's smokin' hot outside. THAT being said I did actually look on sears as to what my options were and was pleasantly surprised at how cheap they were. Honestly thought they were 200 dollars.

workingit My biggest challenge...hmmm. It changes, it used to be nutz and I'd recognize that and save them for fun day. Now I don't even eat them on fun day. I think if I could I would eat chocolate bars everyday but it's more that they make me feel 'meh' or 'blah' so I don't.

maileLots on your plate but I do not worry about you. Don't forget to get your extra water in with all that moving...I hate moving! :/

++++++++++++

Hope everyone is having a great day!

I am officially in Maintenance and a little nervous. I actually lost 4 1/2 lbs on phase 3, so I am at a nice low....I see so many people who have to reboot, for those of you who have maintained your weight loss, what are the secrets to success? I have yoyo'd the same 10 then 15 then 25 lbs for years. I really don't want to do it again. I think I have the psychology down better this time, in the past I did weight watchers, reached goal, then rewarded myself. I will not do that here, but I know its a slippery slope, so whatever tips you have for me I will absorb and study and follow~ Thank you so much!

I start back to school next Tuesday...I am ready. Currently on day 10. Weighed myself after six days and I was up from my goal weight 21 pounds...furthest I have fallen since I started maintenance 2.5 years ago...but dusting myself off and kicking those 21 to the curb. also may try to go about 7 lower, because I tend to gain a few as I phase off.

Congrats on the marriage...exciting.

I was so good about checking in for the first year or two of maintenance...I have been slacking for the last six months or so. But I do check in often with the ladies I met here on our facebook group (daily). But I am back to this. It helps so much.

So officially up 21 pounds from goal...still down 54.

Darbs:You are doing it! 10 days is great. Going 7 pounds below your goal will give you a good cushion. I wish I had figured out maintenance when I was younger like you. At least I am working on it now! Good luck with the start of school.

Ishbel: good idea on the water. I hate moving also!

Easierwithtwo: I try to eat as low sugar and low carb as possible. I have not returned to old trigger foods. I eat very much like I did when I was losing but add a few carbs or eat slightly higher fat. Read refuse to regain for more tips. Good luck,

Hi everyone!

Hope all is well and you're gonna have a great labor day weekend!

My DD is working all weekend and my DS is away at college so empty nest again, we keep getting little tastes of this, kinda bittersweet, we have fun
but we also miss them, some adjusting to do, DD's got one more year in Highschool. Time flys!

Lobsters are on sale 3.99lb so I think were gonna splurge on a few
with some friends, gonna grill veggies and make a nice salad.
Skip the potato, maybe alittle butter though, LOL!
A nice cool watermelon would be good too!

Its gonna be alittle steamy here in CT this weekend, 85 and humid.
Looks like we may get some more swimming in. Gonna try to get a good bikeride in too.

Ok enjoy everyone!!

Oh Dear... stepped on the scale this am after not weighing in for a week - and I'm at 163 lbs! Eek!!

I had a colonoscopy yesterday, and am wondering if the litres of solution I had to drink Wednesday to flush out the colon (plus saline solution drip during the procedure yesterday - plus the fact that they blow you up with air for the procedure?) might have something to do with these extra pounds?... anyway - I'm definitely headed in the wrong direction on the scale so it's time to get serious with P1 again.

Since this is Labour Day Weekend, and I have a 'sort of' headstart with yesterday's light eating... My stomach was upset from the anesthesia until mid-afternoon when I had protein shake, and then I also had a very light dinner and just greek yogurt & a few peach slices for an after dinner snack last night. I've decided to go back on P1 starting today... that way I'll have three days to get 'climatized' again before next week - four, if I include today. So that's my plan... and I'm sticking to it.

Sorry this is a 'me-post'... not too much time this am, as I'm waiting to get hooked into a work conference call shortly. Just wanted to drop in and 'commit myself' here to getting serious about P1 again.

Hope everyone has a great day... and a lovely long weekend.

darbs7 I actually think I lurk everyday sometimes multiple times a day. I just don't have the time to post my thoughts as much as I want or perhaps should. Many times I'm just reading through some of the questions and the answers people give and since the questions are being answered by other helpful people I don't answer. Good to see you back, stick around

Maile I was just talking to my gf about 'trigger' foods, mine is definitely chocolate. Just two weekends in a row even, it's on like donkey kong and I'll eat my desk. So not worth the mental discussion but now when I decide to have chocolate. I don’t just buy a bar off the counter. I go to the speciality chocolate stores and make a good decision then bring it home and make sure I sit to enjoy.

EasierWithTwo I know you created a new thread (you wanted responses and we are lackluster in here some days). I'm sorry I took so long to respond, it's just difficult to do so everyday. My 'secret' is no real secret. Take it slow adding foods to your diet, you were just on a massive detox (restrictive Phase 1). Listen to what your body is saying, if you add pasta AND wine at the same time and the scale goes up you won't know if it was the pasta AND the wine or just the pasta or just the wine. Wine really affected me when I first started maintenance and now I can have a glass or two (I just don't choose it as I'd rather eat my calories). Does that scenario make sense? I didn't start exercising for about 2 months after I started maintenance so I had somewhat of a handle on my caloric intake requirements and didn't change that when I started to do some hard cardio. It took 6 weeks for the cardio to show up on the scale and then I only added an extra fruit or a protein bar. I reward myself with Lululemons lol. I just bought another running outfit so I don't have to wash and wear (the one pair or running crops I had). I tell ya, if anything got me to the gym in the last week was that new outfit because I LOVE it! Find something else to reward yourself with. It doesn't have to involve shopping it just does for me. I was in a HUGE HUGE panic when I started maintenance and now the panic comes and goes, last week or the week before that (if you've read any posts) was a panic attack. This week I feel great and strong. The 'panic' is less now then it was but it's still there. Welcome to maintenance!

evepet ABSOLUTELY it's from your procedure but I doubt that's making you feel better. Warm water and lemon...all day today to flush it out. I'd go get some asparagus too (a natural diuretic). When I need to get rid of some 'bloat' my daily 3.5 litres of water is all boiled water (then cooled) with lemon. I really like the Santa Cruz organic lemon juice because it tastes just like fresh squeezed lemons Stay off the scale for a few days to let your body relax from that procedure.

++++++++++

Holy smokes it's hot here! Going to the Labour Day classic (CFL - Riders vs Bombers) this weekend, kinda worried about the heat! I've been consistently running this past while in preparation for a small 5 km race on the 5 Oct. I can run the 5km I just need a small goal to be consistent and it's working.

GO RIDERS!

Evepet - it's gotta be the procedure - bet it will come down a lot in a day or two... I am not looking forward to that one, but will be due sometime in the next year.

Ishbel - like you some days I just check the thread, but don't post. Still good to know you are all here - keeps me motivated.

LizRR - thinking of you - that baby should be here any day now, I think!

I am finding that weekends are harder for me. I think it's just the lack of structure. I want to relax and take it easy, but seems that often leads to too much snacking... During the week, i am very busy at work and it is not nearly as hard to stay on track. I am still in my range, so not overly worried, but I'd like to get a handle on this. Any advice?

Thanks Ishbel & Lizzy for your input. It does make sense that the procedure would affect things. But it's time I got serious anyway, so if the situation reinforces my decision to get back to P1 more strictly, then it's a good thing. I just don't feel quite so panicked about it. I'm off to squeeze some lemons.... Lizzie, yeah not my favorite thing to do either, but there's a family history for me so I dutifully go through this every 5 years.

Evepet: I think it was the procedure also. Lemon juice would definitely help. Getting back on P1 will definitely help. Posting does make you accountable. Good luck on P1.

Lizzy63: The only thing I can think of is to plan your meals ahead for the weekend, including the snacks. That might help you stay on track. It is easier when you are busy at work to stay on a routine. I am sure you were busy.

Ishbel: I hope your game is not too hot. I love football also and am glad the season is starting up. I love your wedding picture. That is such a beautiful dress. I am the same way. I buy bright workout shoes as a reward and enjoy wearing them to exercise! I think you are wise to go for the gourmet chocolate and then savor it at home. Eating chocolate covered almonds helps with my chocolate indulgence.

DReganhat is a great price for lobster. It is a wonderful seafood. I hope your son is enjoying college. I have had 3 kids home and am now down to one. In two weeks he will leave. Fortunately I have cats!

Darbs7: I hope your school and reboot are going well. Last week was a zoo and I was exhausted.

I am one year and 11 months into maintenance.

I just read a statistic that said that if you stay within a 10 pound range for 5 years, you have a 73 percent chance of keeping it off for good.
