Hello, Iam just new and have posted a couple of times. I have been on ip for about 1.5 months and have lost 20 pounds. So happy with the weight loss but not happy about the hair loss. Has anyone experienced this and what did u do? Please help!

I sat across from a friend last night over dinner at my favorite restaurant, eating my baked chicken breast with steamed veggies (ohhh sooooo goood) and after she asked me how much weight I've lost (66 pounds) proceeds to tell me how low carb diets don't work. I pointed out that, clearly, they do, look at me!!! She then told me that the reason she doesn't lose weight is because her husband likes her the way she is, and is my husband wanting me to lose weight, is that why I'm doing it???

I was shocked into silence. Momentarily. Then I let her have it with both barrels.

*grin*

Hi Ann - there are quite a few posts about the hair loss if you search for them. I personally have not experienced any hair loss, but many of us have discussed it. Search through the forums! Welcome to the board and congrats on your fantastic loss!!

There are whole threads just on the hair loss topic. You should find good advise there. I'd link for you but I'm not on my computer

I've got myself in a hissy again. I was just reading the nutrition info for all the great sytrax powders I got.... Are the envelopes/packets1 serving? The packets themselves are reading like they are 4 servings! BAH! And is the syntrax matrix safe for P1 like the syntrax nectar?

From what I recall from the various threads...hair loss is typical for any rapid weigh loss diet (not IP specific). People have generally seen it start after being on the program for 4-5 months, of course this widely varies depending on the person. Some don't have hair loss, some have a lot , a little, etc. Once off the program, the hair loss will go away.

Different supplements have been mentioned to help combat hair loss, the one I remember most is biotin. But others have definitely been mentioned, so please do search the forum for more detailed information.

Hope that helps!

Oh boy, don't those negative people just really tick you off? My sister in law is the only one I know that is negative, but it irritates me to no end. Good for you for fighting back! I can't say much to my sister in law (DH's sister) because I want to keep peace in the family, but I wish I could sometimes!

You have done great, don't let anybody take that away from you! This lifestyle is not easy with all the temptation out there...

JudithL,

CONGRATULATIONS on your 66 lb loss! That is fabulous! My daughter told me, when I started the IP that my weight loss would be a "witness" to others. You are a "witness" to YOUR success on IP! Gave me goosebumps that you stood in YOUR POWER !!!
