The purpose of ketosis is to keep cravings under control that are otherwise stimulated by carbs and to encourage fat loss while preserving muscle. It has nothing to do with weight loss per se.

Also, I have a problem with the notion of "cheating". Since at some point in the future everybody will likely want to eat differently. So, you will need to be able to deal with drinking a glass of wine and not totally loose it and put back the pounds you just starved off. I think it is not cheating if one learns to enjoy something with boundaries and then just goes back dieting. For me this is learning to keep your weight under control. Permanently. While still enjoying life. If one cannot achieve this kind of control, it does not matter whether one looses 10 lbs a week.
