My vote....Buy another dress in a smaller size. Keep them both until you get closer to the date. Return the one you don't use.

I got married in October and I was told time and time again that most of the time dresses can be altered down two sizes.

With the link you gave us...not sure if there's more in stock but it looked like they only have 4 sizes left. Maybe they have more since it's a bridesmaid dress, but that is something to take note of. If you can, order a smaller one. I started IP in June and got married in October and had 5 dress sizes to take it. It was essentially a reconstruction of my dress. Some seamstresses stop at about 2-3 sizes smaller because of the need. I think regardless, you will spend money on alterations...but consider it a good problem to have and how amazing you'll look in it!

Right now i'm a size 16, as is the dress i have (in grey for those who asked). I'm literally shoving my chest into the dress in order to zip it, but the bottom section is on the big side (I'm curvy, so it looks awkward on me, but one of the other bridesmaids is pear-shaped and it looks fabulous on her). Meanwhile, after i've shoved my boobs into the dress i feel like i've done some sort of olympic event. I'm afraid if i get the 14, my boobs will not fit in May, but if i keep the 16, there's going to be a ton of fabric to take in on the skirt part. When i lost all my weight before, i went from a 38 DD (what i am now) to a 36 D and was in a size 10/12. I guess i'm just going to order the 14 too and hope i can return the wrong-sized dress in May. So frustrating!

Look at it this way, perhaps: You don't necessarily have to wait until May to return; just wait until it's obvious the larger one is going to be too big and return it. I've been amazed at the rate of change with this diet!

I started IP in June with my sisters wedding looming in October. I ordered my dress in July. I was still in an 18, but ordered a 16 knowing I was sticking with this diet. I should have ordered a 12, but by that time, it was discontinued. I had about $125 of alterations done and it was perfect. Of course, the dress cost me $150.... So $275 total... Could have gotten a better dress for that money! I would get the smaller dress, too.

I started IP at the end of May and had to order my dress for my son's October wedding by early July. Based on what I had already lost, I ordered the dress 3 sizes smaller than what I fit into at the time I ordered it. The sales clerk made me sign a paper saying I knew I was ordering the 'wrong' size. Two weeks before the wedding it still had to be taken in some, especially in the waist & hips, but even in the bust a little too. (See the last pic in my sig.!)

My sister was my maid of honor for my wedding this past August. She bought her dress then went on IP. They basically had to cut the dress in half as it was a size 24 and she went down to around a size 12-14.

If I were you talk to the place where you got your dress from. Depending how complicated the dress is (her dress wasn't) they might be able to make big alterations.
