WI yesterday. Down 3.2 after lots of 2s. 2s are good (Better than the 0!). It was just nice to see a little bigger jump.

I'm starting to see some light peering out...it is feeling like this is really a doable thing. I can't remember the last time I've stuck with a plan for this long (Saturday will be 90 days). It is because of all of you and the recipes I found on this site. I couldn't have stuck with it this long without knowing how to do it and what to do.

Amazing how it took almost 90 days to really believe I can stick with it and can achieve my goals.

As the song says, feeling stronger every day

Hi everybody! I look forward to learning a lot more on this forum.
I posted this late yesterday so I'll repost here today.

Hi all -
Looking for some help. I'm new here and new to the IP diet. Just weighed in my first week today. Lost 8lbs....so they say.. I'm a little skeptical.
Anyway, my wife is on the diet also and has done great so then I decided to try it.
With my first week down. I found myself, starving within and hour of every "meal" so I would have an egg or 2 to hold me over. Also, I am not in ketosis after 8 days. I have not cheated and followed it very strickly but this thing is kicking my butt. It is not as easy as it's made out to be.
Anybody have any suggestions on how I can keep from starving and get on to ketosis??
Thanks for your help.

Skeptical? About what?
If you're hungry after eating, you might want to read about Leptin. We have many hormones that control weight/hunger (IP just teaches about insulin

I also wonder why you don't think you are in Ketosis? If you are following the plan, you are surely in Ketosis.

Hi everyone
I could use some encouragement today. The scale reversed on me and has been hanging out there for days. I'm guessing just water retention and TOM but still feel discouraged as it is the first time my weight went back up. I've been 100% and know I haven't eaten 3500 extra calories (as wuv would say) so I'm hoping it will reverse soon and maybe I'll even see a "swoosh" that I hear others talk about.

Morning all. Today is WI day and I'm hoping to see great numbers on the scale this week. The stomach virus has been floating around my house and yesterday I had my first cheat, saltine crackers. It was all I could keep down. Today is a new day so I will follow the program 100% as I had been previously. Have a great day!

I started the program a week ago and at that time the coach said she was retiring in a month (go for her bad for me) so she gave me the address to a new person to sign up with after she retired. I weighed in with my coach yesterday and her scale says I'm down 8lbs. So my wife and i decided to go see the new coach and start our process there. So I weighed in there at the weight I started with the week before. disheartening for sure. I know scales are different so no big deal, it's just like starting over after starving myself for a week.

As for ketosis, I use the test strips to check and I have yet to see a positive test. I am following the protocol to the T. My wife is helping with that since she has lost 32lbs on this diet.

Hi there! I thought I was going to starve during week one. It passed someone in the beginning of week 2, and now I'm rarely hungry and if so, I can eat lettuce and it passes, or an egg white if it I feel extremely hungry. 8 pounds in week 1 sounds great, like it is working! As for being in Ketosis, I read a lot of the past threads, and most experienced ip dieters said if you are on the program without cheats, you are in ketosis. I don't know why you think you aren't, but I can tell I don't trust Ketone sticks. My sister gave me a bunch of them, so many I could check multiple times a day. I experimented and they would say no, no, no, yes, no, no, yes througout the very same day. But I was consistently losing. The consensus in the archives seems to be Ketone sticks aren't very helpful in knowing if you are in ketosis on IP (I think many said it was because of the amount of water we drink). Stay on program and see what happens, hang in there, give it more time and see if the hungry passes.

I've had a rough, rough week but feel better today at least about IP. I decided to have some of my protein in the a.m. so I can actually get down all of my protein at night. It's bad when you are cutting the chicken up into small pieces and swallowing it like a pill! YES i really did that last night!
I have been hungry all day long every day since I started. I guess that is just the way its going to be for me? I drink a ton of water everyday and always have. (ok maybe not a literal ton!) Ready for the hunger pains to pass! Have a great friday everyone!

IV Guy- I get the best results if I pee in a cup, my first morning pee, then dip the ketostix for a second.

Because of all the water we drink the rest of the day I hardly ever get a positive reading.

Hope this helps

I would be dancing if I lost 8 pounds. Glass half full and all.

I am with you, I am hungry in the morning and in the afternoon. But after 6 pm I have to force myself to eat.

I have not figured out how to eat my protein in the morning. From Monday I might start having my protein before going to work.

on a high note 4 weeks ago when I started IP I could not zip my size 6 pants, they are quite lose now and I will take out the size 4's on Wednesday my IP Weigh in day.

So since you have not cheated, hang in there. I understand why you would be a bit discouraged. But now that if TOM is around the corner that is normal.

Did you start any workout program recently?

Did you have any soy sauce in the last couple of days?

Be proud and secure in your conviction, you are not cheating, the weight will come off.

I gained a pound the day before my TOM. After it was over I lost 1.4 pounds overnight.

Hang in, we are with you

Hoping for a whoosh for you! Are you weighing every day? The scale will drive you crazy! IP recommends once/week.

The saltines may be a setback scale-wise. Don't get discouraged if they are. Just use it as an excuse to stay 100% OP now that you are feeling better!

Ketosis strips are very inconsistent. Some people have luck with them, others never see a ketone register. If you have followed the protocol 100%, you are in Ketosis and you are probably drinking so much water that the ketones aren't registering on the strips. This is a GOOD thing. Sorry about the change in scales. Totally frustrating to switch coaches. Reminds me of the difference between the gym and the doctor's office

Are you posting in the daily "what are you eating today IPeeps"? It might be helpful and other people might be able to help you with your frustration, especially if people see exactly what/when you're eating. I know some coaches say you can't split up the protein but those are individual coaches and not the IP program as a whole. Maybe you could do 4 oz lunch, 4 oz dinner plus your 3 packets?

3500. Many "experts" say there are 3500 calories in a lb of fat. I've read varying opinions about that (Gary Taubes, for one, and other low-carb researchers/writers), however, but at least it gives us a common language.
We all know if the scale goes up, we haven't consumed that much so it must be a water weight gain. Inflammation happens so easily!
