Found myself second guessing my choices, being on IP and just feeling very discouraged. I just avoided the site for awhile.

This just upsets me, because I have FINALLY been successful, and MUCH of that has come from the people on this forum.

I thought I was stronger than that! Now it just makes me angry.

Thanks, all, for letting me vent as well!

So it seems that my reboot is going well. I am happy to report that I am 1.2 pounds from my goal weight, which thrills me. I feel so much better knowing that I got things under control before the got out of control.

That is truly the beauty of IP and P1. It is always there for you.

I was searching Leptin and came across Jack Kruse's Leptin reset. He recommends doing this in conjunction with living paleo/ primal. Most paleo recipes are IP Phase 4 friendly but living paleo means giving up legumes & grains. Dairy seems to be a bone of contention. Anyway most interesting thing I took from the Leptin reset is the No Snacking rule. That it is easier on the liver the less times per day you ask it to process food.

I believe you count the net carbs after subtracting the fiber. I do that for cereal and bread as well. I love beans also..especially black beans and garbanzos.

So due to the cold, I went through my closet and got out fall clothes to layer up. In doing so, I got rid of large clothes and often medium sizes..and also clothes I did not like. It is satisfying to do this, but still a moment occurs when I am getting rid of a jacket..should I keep this in case I gain 10 pounds? I chose to get rid of it. If I have maintained for a year, I am choosing to believe that I will do it another year. What never ceases to amaze me, is I can accurately remember the weight and emotion I felt when buying my clothes.

Cap: that was interesting about the leptin reset. There are so many different ideas on snacks and eating. Paleo seems very popular..but totally giving up legumes and grains would be hard..also dairy as well. However, lots of people seem to like it.

Jenny: Phase 1 has been so helpful. I am glad it is going well. I also like the sturcture of eating 2 cups of veges, 2 cups of lettuce and protein. Ip has given me a good structure for eating.

Delgen: People are too critical of others. It is too bad you ran into that negative poster.

Momto2cs..the last 2 or 3 pounds can be difficult. Hope your weekend gets better.

ishbel: I am looking for more sweaters also..It was hard to put away my cotton colored prints. You sound like you have your holiday weekend planned!!!

I am 5 days from starting Phase 3. I decided to check out this forum in anticipation of moving to Phase 4. I love your comments about getting rid of the clothes. I am now a size 4 and have tons of larger clothes. I AM scared to get rid of them, using them as a safety net, just in case I gain weight. But when you wrote, "I am choosing to believe that I will do it ", i was moved. This statement resinated with me. It is a choice to believe in yourself and I want to make that choice also.
Thank you for your post. I look forward to posting in this forum in about 2.5 weeks.

Hello ladies. I have returned from my Texas and Wyoming trip. I was gone for 11 days and lost 2 pounds while I was away I think I finally got this maintenance thing figured out. I am not doing a "cheat day" every week. I might have something "cheat" worthy every few days, but I find that it is working for me to do it this way. Breads and cereals (anything with wheat in it) causes me terrible gas and bloating as well as anxiety, so I am avoiding it. It took me a little while to figure out what was causing it. I am eating my carbs as fruit and that is fine with me. My sister told me about the book "Wheat Belly, Lose the Wheat- Lose the Weight" By Dr. Davis. It was an amazing read. Falls right in line with Ideal Protein and why we need to remove carbs to lose weight. But it also helped explain why wheat makes me feel so bad.

Wheat belly is great. Gary taubes why we get fat (or his older book good calories, bad calories) are also excellent.

I wish there was a "like" button because I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Wheat Belly was a huge wake up call for me and I keep wheat and grains at bay. I,too, blow up when I eat wheat. I look like I am 5 months pregnant. I stick to fruit, corn and beans for carbs in maintenance. Before this summer (and my needing a reboot) I was also not doing a full blown cheat day, but sporatically eating "cheat worthy" foods through out the week. I was easily maintaining my goal weight and hardly ever needing a P1 day.

Thank you, Maile! Right now, I'm kind of scared to count net carbs, as I don't want to push myself out of ketosis, although from what others have said, you wont, if you still stay within a good daily range (25-40 net carbs). I've been counting total carbs so far, and staying around 35 a day.

Thanks on the good luck in Phase 4. Oh, and I love black beans too!

I love to read all of these posts because it reassures me that I'm really not alone in all of this. It gets very frustrating to have people ask me if I am eating enough or if I will ever eat "normal" again. I don't ever want to go back to my old eating "normal". I love eating the way I am now and pray that this time next year I will still be on maintenance and feeling as wonderful as I do now.

Maile....I got rid of the really large clothes, but have packed away several sizes (just in case). I know they say get rid of all the "fat clothes" but it is a very scary thought since I have had to replace sizes before. I will keep your saying in my head...that I choose to believe I will be at this weight in another year and will never need those large clothes again!

I have not read the Wheat Belly book, but it sounds definately worth reading, so will make sure I do. I have pretty much opted to stay away from breads and other grains, getting my carbs from beans and extra fruit. So far it seems to be working the best for me.

I am almost done with Why We Get Fat It is an excellent book too. I wish everyone in the world knew about these books!!!
