Good Morning Everyone - phase 1 week 1 day 1
Had a great orientation with my coach yesterday; the food industry has a lot to answer for don't they?
Hope everyone has great OP day!

Good luck, and once past the first few days you will love the program.

It's been a rough week. I had my first weight gain at a weigh-in.
I've haven't had a bad one, yet, and have been working my arse off (literally) to stay OP. I went from Phase 3 to Phase 4 last week and eased in verrrry gradually (most of my lunches and dinners remained the same). Thursday was my birthday, and I went out of town and ended up having drinks with friends for three nights in a row. During the day, I stayed totally OP and worked out since I knew I'd be going out.
Regardless, at my weigh-in, I was up about a pound. I know that's not a lot, but I was getting excited to get back to my social life of being able to go out and have a few with friends and not having to worry about taking back all the work I just put in with the diet.
Help! I feel so hopeless. Any words of wisdom?
Is it better to eat completely Phase 1 (carb-less) on days when you know you'll be drinking that night (to make up for it)? Or is it better to eat Phase 4, and get your insulin pumping? How can you best prepare your body for a "cheat night"? How much alcohol is too much for a normal Phase 4 day?
What I was thinking is Phase 1 Sunday - Thursday, Friday - Saturday free days. I do better with extremes, like if I have a very set structure during the week and then can completely relax for weekends.
Has anyone tried this technique? Any luck?
Big hugs!

For best results I would just stick with the program the way it's written. If you do decide to take two days for your free day, then I would do two days of phase 1 to make up for the weight gained.

So it's day 4 for me, and other than the weight loss (ok i peeked and have lost 6 lbs in 3 days? DUDE!) the best thing about this for me at the moment is showing the issue I have with food. Mostly eating outside of my home. Just in the past 2 days alone I would have eaten at a host of fast food and to go places just out of habit. (Five guys, Panera and the bagel shop most notably). It was just part of my day. I had an interview yesterday there was a 5G next to it, I almost went there out of habit and was like wait no, don't forget what you're doing! And i'd packed a chocolate RTD and had that as i drove home. I went to the post office, there is a coffee place I would have gotten an iced with sugar and milk. I open my junk drawer and there are hard candies I would have popped in my mouth. Today after dropping my son at daycare as I was driving home to have my IP shake, I almost got into the left hand turn out of HABIT. (not because I wanted to hit panera).
It's really REALLY opening my eyes to the issue I had with food on the go. I looked in the back of my car as I need to go to the dump and my garbage basket has TWO fast food bags. How did I become THAT person?! I pride myself on whole foods blah blah and here I am an on the go junkie
No, make that I WAS an on the go junkie. No more!!! :jig::jig::jig:

This was so my life. Very healthy food at home for the entire family, but not so much as I was out and about during the day.

Good mornin'. Going to be OP today and try not to crab about it! This program is a pain for me so far, but being at my weight is a pain too! My biggest complaint is that I find it very difficult to cook for 3 kids and a husband and then have to eat something different from them. I hate to cook so fixing two different dinners is a bit of a mess for me. But alas....I will carry on! Good day every one!

I don't cook anything special for my family for dinner, we all eat the same healthy low carb dinner. We all have a protein and veggies for dinner. No one needs any starches/carbs for a healthy dinner.

Good Morning IPeeps!
Day two and going strong! The headache rolled in a couple hours before bedtime last night, and it's hanging on this morning - I was expecting it while my body is going through sugar detox, hopefully it's gone soon.
I met with my in-house RN at work to review the program and set up a weekly weigh-in. She hadn't heard of the program but is willing to support me. I documented everything I ate yesterday at Sparkpeople and ran a report so she could see the stats. Ultimately, she wants me to not rely on meal replacements, and I explained that it was best for me now because it will enable quick loss, and it doesn't involve a lot of time preparing meals. I feel these are key to my success right now. Believe me, I don't want to rely on meal replacements either, but they are a necessary means to an end.
I plan on documenting my intake for at least a week on Sparkpeople just so I know the average nutrients I'm getting. I'm used to using that site but know there are others out there. I'm curious if others track their intake?
Just the Cheese - has anyone tried this, and would you consider it ok for the plan? It's basically dried cheese and really tasty and I could see it as an ingredient for other things. A salad topper was one suggestion. I got these at Diet Direct. Serving size 1 oz (from a 2 oz bag): Calories 150, Fat 12, Total Carb 1, Protein 13g (This was the White Cheddar and Soy flavor - yum!)

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Meal replacements are not the answer long term, but that is the beauty of IP, it has four phases that eventually get you all on whole unprocessed food by phase 4. The packaged food is a very high quality in the meantime and you lose a lot of weight. A win-win situation.
As for the Just Cheese, I would have to say you can't have it right now. It's way too high in fat and calories for IP. Any food not listed on the phase 1 sheet should be 0 fat/0 calories/ 0 carbs.

I don't like the puddings as pudding, but I love them as shakes with cinnamon added. Having only drinks might cause you to burn out too quickly. Have you tried some of the other products? They have several good ones, and you can get creative with them too.

Wow, that sucks! They really are quite good. The vanilla ones, anyone. I'm not a huge fan of the chocolate ones. But so much easier to travel with, etc! And they're super good when mixed with all sorts of WF stuff. Sadly they're more expensive, but you do get 8 in a package. Huh.
Well, apparently they are soon to be on their way to you, so keep an eye out for them!!!

I wouldn't buy them because I like turning them into shakes, but they would be great for my daughter who eats them as pudding only.

I am so confused as what to do. I am losing so much hair! I am taking biotin as someone suggested. I know it isn't going to stop immediately but I'm concerned that I will start having bald spots. My coach says that it will grow back , but at what cost am I doing this? I have 20 lbs until goal, that's 12 weeks and then phasing off. Not sure what hair I will have left by then.
If I just get off IP immediately, I have no idea what to eat .
Please tell me if you have gone thru this and have in fact had your hair grow back, I am desperate for encouragement.

Make sure you are getting enough biotin (2500 mg. twice per day). I didn't have any hair loss with IP I think because I take fish oil (before I even started IP), and collagen and I believe that really helps. I also started adding biotin recently to be on the safe side. I did lose a lot of hair when I did Atkins, and wasn't taking anything till I noticed it falling out. My hair did get thinner, but I never looked bald. It lasted for about three months. The loss happens whenever you stress out the body, for example with a big weight loss. Whatever you do don't quit IP, your hair will come back, and you'll be thinner too.
