Weighing in at home

So, I am no longer weighing myself at home..there is just too much mental anguish that will turn around and sabotage my weight loss.....High stress=harder weight loss!!! Well...at my WI this morning which was week #2 I was down 7lbs and 3 inches!!! (huge sigh...)...I lost 4lbs at WI #1...so I was SHOCKED!! Bottom line....all the worry was for nothing...!!! Keep focused and you WILL see the results!! :):carrot:

Jodster, so happy for you! :D I am guilty of weighing myself daily, and midweek I freaked out 'cause I was up 2 lb. Staying 100% OP so I was unsure why. I was eating a lot of red meat (all lean and grilled) so I thought maybe that was the reason. I had been feeling hungry and tired so I thought I would give myself a boost eating more red meat. This week..I'm going to try more fish and see I can can get down 5 lb (I'm in week 6)

I also try and choose the IP packets with the least amount of carbs...maybe I should rethink this...any ideas anyone???

Weigh Ins

"No need to get hung up on a number now. I feel good!!!!"

Locopollo thank you for posting this…this will be my mantra this week. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I weigh myself daily… and was disappointed when I only had a 3.2 loss this week. I do feel good, happy 23 lb are gone, so will focus on that and not the number.

Most of them worked when I stuck to it, but as I've gotten older (I'm now 50), sometimes even strictly sticking to a diet hasn't resulted in any weight loss, then I get frustrated and quit. I'm sure hoping this is the one for me! I've seen everyone's great weight losses on this board and can't wait to be a part of it! I've got all of my IP packets and have a refrigerator stocked with lean proteins and vegetables. Looking forward to trying some of the great recipes posted on this board. I don't know what to try first. What were your first IP meals that you had on your first day?

I had soups for lunch and I think breakfast...I know, sounds strange - but its what I had. Had shake as my snack but split it in half and so had half at 4pm and half at bedtime daily. Had NO restricteds for the first 3 -4 weeks.

Hello everyone, this forum has been so wonderful to read through and get so much inspiration from. I am planning on starting the Ideal Protein diet on my own, well with the help of a friend, on Monday and I'm actually kind of nervous about it. Not the diet itself but starting and failing yet again!! I lost 70# about 8 years ago on Atkins and have gained 55 of those pounds back much to my dismay. I will be turning 30 in two weeks and feel I really need to get myself to a healthy weight to start the next decade of my life. Thank you everyone for all of your stories, I really feel that having this forum to turn to will help me stay on track and motivated!!

WELCOME!!

This diet is amazing. Probably the single most important thing, aside from the obvious "stay on the diet 100% and don't cheat" advice is to carve out the time to read Dr Chan's book found at the bottom of the first post of this thread. He developed the diet and you will learn a great deal by reading it. Since it was written, a number of things have changed, so overlook what appears to be discrepancies, but read it for understanding the scientific basis of the diet. It will motivate you.

Hi everyone :-)

My name's Anna and I've been lurking on these forums for a bit. I have been reading on this diet for quite some time and am finally going to jump in. I plan on starting next week, hopefully meeting someone this weekend. My bf and I decided it was the right thing to do!

There has been so much information on this site, so I hope to use it as support.

Ditto the advice above and WELCOME!!

Molly,
Are you going to try the Actifry tonight?

Hello. Looking for some support or info. I've been OP for 5 days. I've lost 2.5 lbs. Other people I know on the diet have lost double digit lbs the first week. What gives? I'm killing myself on this diet, starving, constant headache. I thought the results are supposed to blow your mind. My mind ain't blown. I've been miserable for 5 days for just 2.5 lbs? Maybe I shouldn't weigh everyday, but blah. This is depressing. My husband lost 8! 8 to my 2.5 and he had real ranch dressing on a salad one day!!!!

I'm in my 5th week of IP, so I am no expert. I can only say what is working for me.

I drink a lot of water
I only get on the scale at WI

If I got on my scale at home, I just sabotage myself with bad self talk...which I don't need.

Be patient and trust the process. In your heart of hearts, if you follow the program, it will work. When I started, my body was going through a big grieving period by saying goodbye to Pizza, peanut M&M's and quarter pounders. I'm sure my body felt betrayed the first week and in shock...maybe the first week wasn't that great for you, but you're body is just trying to cope with a new way of life right now and the weight loss will come.

Hi Chloe,

Unfortunately, not. Tonight is the first time we are able to attend a Corvair club meeting of a club we joined last fall. Until this month, DH's work schedule always fell on that Friday night. Their meetings are always started with a potluck supper and I don't trust that those great southern cooks will bring anything IP-friendly. I'll have dinner before I leave and take a RTD for on the way home. It's three hours away and a later time zone. Will be a long night.

In fact, I've got to jump up and make pumpkin spice cookies to take since we'll leave in about an hour.

Hopefully, tomorrow.
Molly

Thanks Chloe I will make sure to check the book out!! I have all weekend to get myself set up for the big start on Monday! :)

LizRR 07-20-2012 04:01 PM

Back at the cottage, having to bust into theIP a little early...foolish me made a big batch of ice cream from frozen bananas, honey, and PEANUT BUTTER!!! Ugh, gotta stay away from the PB! Giving myself permission for an extra unrestricted if needed...we are doing a lot of sightseeing, beach walking, and swimming, and while chasing a toddler figured I may need a little boost! Plus I think TOM is jumping the gun, a little light spotting combined with this out-of-nowhere PB urge. Need to stay on top of water too...it is HOT here!

Stay cool Kaypix, that's tough being without A/C this time of year!

Moose lover, good to hear you are back home!

I'm thinking you guys were right - I was so hungry the other day. I think my body was busy burning fat. I'm hoping to be halfway at my weigh in Sunday. Might be tough though. At meetings all day today, going to a baseball game tonight, my daughters bday party tomorrow, and family over tomorrow night. Just like Vet said, FOCUS!!!!

Yup, that "true hunger" is always the precursor to a nice fat flush!

I am on day 7, my first weigh-in tomorrow:
Breakfasts are usually veggified ommelets or a shake
Lunch is either a soup with added veggies or a shake
Dinner I have been having fun with dinner: I recently discovered Miracle Noodles and have been stir frying with them. I also love making turnip steak fries.
Snacks I have been trying all the different snacks offered, my favorite so far have been the lemon soy puffs. I split them up and eat at 10am and 3pm.

Have fun with it!:p

Liz,
Wow, you look awesome! We just got back from a mini vacation, and I did a lot of walking. I added an extra unrestricted a couple of times. My coach said that I old have an extra peach mango drink mix a couple of times a week because they're only 1 carb and 20 g of protein. I've been losing lean muscle, and she thinks this might help.

I look forward to phase 3 because I want to eat peanut butter again! So I can so relate.

Hope you're having an awesome time on your vacation!
