I know it is hard not to focus on that scale. Honestly, my first week, I didn't see the scale move until day 6, and my first WI I was down 10.8. Hang in there, drink your water and make sure to eat your veggies! (our mom's were right LOL) Good luck!

Most of them worked when I stuck to it, but as I've gotten older (I'm now 50), sometimes even strictly sticking to a diet hasn't resulted in any weight loss, then I get frustrated and quit. I'm sure hoping this is the one for me! I've seen everyone's great weight losses on this board and can't wait to be a part of it! I've got all of my IP packets and have a refrigerator stocked with lean proteins and vegetables. Looking forward to trying some of the great recipes posted on this board. I don't know what to try first. What were your first IP meals that you had on your first day?

I didn't really venture out and try recipes until week 3, but I have been making smoothies with the pudding mixes in my blender with lots of ice and they are great!

I am hoping for around a 4 pound loss on Monday. I have had a great week OP and starting to exercise a bit more. I hope everyone has a great OP weekend!

I hope your have a good weekend, will be fun with your little one, I bet! I am so impressed with your results, we have similar stats so it is very encouraging to see how you've been rocking this program! I wanna be like you and the other losers on this forum!:carrot:

Kaypix, I love the lyrics to this so much that when my sone (who just graduated HS) was a Freshman, I wrote them in a letter to him that the school held until his graduation day breakfast! Thanks for the youtube link - great start to my Friday :carrot:

I didn't get to WI this week because we were out of town. Hopefully, I'll make it to the 100 pound club at my next WI.

Way to go on the veggies! Good luck on next weigh-in:goodluck:

Chloe, the heat has been really rough on me too. Hang in there!

I hope you figure out what is causing this! Do you use a lot of sucralose or malitol? Both of those cause me to get gut pain.

Welcome! I can't remember my first meals (my coach gave me a pre-set menu the first week to try a variety). If you try soemthing and don't care for it - give it a week and try again - it takes a little while for your taste buds to "re-set" on IP.

I have a short work day to begin a crazy-busy weekend. My daughter has horse shows on Sat & Sun. I have already stocked the truck with extra IP packets so that I can grab an RTD when I feel my blood sugar start dropping!
:belly::belly: Happy Friday! :belly::belly:

Good morning. I am feeling much better today. It felt good to sleep in my own bed. I am taking pain meds faithfully every 4 hours. Gas pains and bloating are getting better too. Today is my WI day, but I did not go. Pretty sure I would have a gain with all puffiness I have. I will go next week. I am not feeling like I want to leave my house right now.

So sad to hear about the Colorado tragedy this morning.

Got up early to take my walk in the woods. My balance is way off lately, as any little bit of head congestion and it's bad, so I looked like a drunk walking down the trails. oh well, it was beautiful anyway.

I know how you all talk about anything here, including bodily functions... ;) I've been struggling with pain in my gut (just below the bra line to just below my belly button) that lays me out for hours at a time. I thought it was heartburn but my doctor said it's probably gas. I've never had it this painful. Trying to find a consistent pattern of what might cause it but don't know yet... makes you afraid to eat anything...

Hope you feel better, Chloe...

May you all have a wonderful end of the week and have some fun planned for the weekend!

Margaret

It sounds like gallstones, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 19, the pain got so bad I was given morphine shots in my hip. Foods with acids in them usually trigger an episode, apples, tomatoes, citrus fruits... if you have the pain after eating and mine felt like real bad heartburn in the beginning, drink some warm water to help you belch, it does help. Your doctor needs to run some tests. Please feel better soon!

It is a very sad day in Colorado. :( I live less than 10 miles from that theater. :(

WI#3 today. Down another 1.2#. A little constipated. Going to drink more plain water and make sure to get my EVOO in. Hopefully next week will be better, but I got to this spot last year and it took three months, not three weeks!

I am planning to be on Phase 1 through the end of August. No need to get hung up on a number now. I feel good!!!!

My prayers are with you in Colorado

I know exactly where you're coming from since getting older. Nothing worked, not even diets that worked in the past. I'd given up, till I found IP. I am 63 and have been on IP now for 6 months and have lost just short of 70 lbs. Rest assured, it works for those of us that have passed the youthful weight loss days. It might not be quite as fast as some of the younger ones, but I've stayed at just over 2 lbs a week and am thrilled. I'm sure you'll find this will work for you, too. Just don't compare yourself to anyone else. Each of our journeys are unique. Plus, the support on this forum is invaluable to help you keep going.

Chloe,
I agree with the heat. I've done great, never feeling bad while on the program, UNTIL I was up at the cottage a couple weeks ago in Michigan's unusual summer heat wave and no AC in the place to escape to. I drank tons of water and licked salt off my hand and just sat, but still felt horrible.

Take it easy and rest. We'll be thinking of you.

Hello everyone, this forum has been so wonderful to read through and get so much inspiration from. I am planning on starting the Ideal Protein diet on my own, well with the help of a friend, on Monday and I'm actually kind of nervous about it. Not the diet itself but starting and failing yet again!! I lost 70# about 8 years ago on Atkins and have gained 55 of those pounds back much to my dismay. I will be turning 30 in two weeks and feel I really need to get myself to a healthy weight to start the next decade of my life. Thank you everyone for all of your stories, I really feel that having this forum to turn to will help me stay on track and motivated!!

UGH... lunchtime now and I already ate my SW Cheese Curls over an hour ago. Got my salad and some yummy homemade cucumber-tomato salsa. But wish I had saved my protien. They are just too yummy!

Sousch 07-20-2012 01:26 PM

Good Morning! I just completed WI #5 and lost 4.5lbs. This makes 20 total! I am super excited cuz this is the first time ever I have lost weight for five (that's 5) weeks in a row!! And I am not hungry and do not have out of control cravings....you are all so very inspiring it makes me want to be 100% OP everyday. Thank you all for sharing your challenges and successes! We all learn when you do!

Jodster 07-20-2012 01:29 PM

NewOrleansLady....Do NOT give up!! I was in the same boat this week...didn't feel like I lost anything..feeling discouraged because I was staying OP 100% but I kept weighing myself at home...BAD idea...!! So, I am no longer weighing myself at home..there is just too much mental anguish that will turn around and sabotage my weight loss.....High stress=harder weight loss!!! Well...at my WI this morning which was week #2 I was down 7lbs and 3 inches!!! (huge sigh...)...I lost 4lbs at WI #1...so I was SHOCKED!! Bottom line....all the worry was for nothing...!!! Keep focused and you WILL see the results!! :):carrot:

Hi, I hope everyone is having a great day so far.

I chose too many chocolate items today :IP Cappucino, Choc pudding, and choc caramel bar...all IP food, but feeling guilty and gross for eating so much chocolate.

I suppose eating all that chocolate was a good thing because I just received this email in my work inbox: "Hi everyone, please join us in the conference room for cupcakes at 3pm to celebrate yada yada yada...." (you like my Seinfeld reference?)

My first weigh in is tomorrow and I look forward to sharing my results!

Have a great day everyone!

AnnaBoBanna 07-20-2012 01:37 PM

Hi everyone :-)

My name's Anna and I've been lurking on these forums for a bit. I have been reading on this diet for quite some time and am finally going to jump in. I plan on starting next week, hopefully meeting someone this weekend. My bf and I decided it was the right thing to do!

There has been so much information on this site, so I hope to use it as support.
