  • Quote: Has anyone found an alternative to the apple cinnamon puffs?
No I haven't and I've looked everywhere! I love those things I can just stop at my clinic and pick them and the dill pickle zippers up, my coach from when I used IP products doesn't care and the clinic is just about 3 mins. away!
  • Newbie here and glad there is a thread for alternative IP. I too am doing an alternative as the cost was just too prohibitive to my pocket book. I have even come up with a variety of vitamin supplements to equal the IP supplements, including the Omega III. My best wishes to each of you on your weight loss journey. I have lost 16.4 lbs in three weeks.
  • Diabeteze Bars
I found Diabeteze bars at Costco and was wondering if anyone uses them as an alternative. They're for diabetics and contain no sugar and fewer carbs than many mainstream bars. They come in chololate mint and chocolate peanut butter flavors. They taste really good, especially the chocolate mint and neither has that protein back flavor.

They seem comperable to IP bars, but I'm unclear on caclulating net carbs.

  • I would say not enough protein
  • What alternative brand "Omlet" would you recommend that is similar to IP Herb and Cheese Omelet?

I really like the ProtiDiet Bacon-Cheese omelet. I like it better than the IP Herb and Cheese. Haven't tried any others since I like this one.

  • I like the veggie-cheese proti-diet omlette
  • Omlet
Thanks for the info on omelets ladies.
  • Those of us who are looking to start this diet using alternatives, what vitamins are we suppose to take???
  • The rest of my food gets here on Monday, so I'll be starting Tuesday.

I ordered the Potassium and the CalMag from http://buyproteinfood.com/. I couldn't find a good alternative for the potassium without taking 1923819283 pills per day, and I looked into it until I got a headache before I figured this would be my "actual IP" purchase. It came in like a day and was free shipping at least.

I am also taking just a regular women's one-a-day vitamin. I've read that some people's coaches have told them that that's fine.
  • Happy to see this thread, switching to alternatives! I'm looking forward to reading through it, any advice/words of wisdom or warnings would be appreciated.

I've have about a 3 week supply of IP products, I plan to order the alternatives later this week and phase out the IP.

Read carefully both the ingredients and the nutritional values. Alternatives are all over the board with both. Remember that IP has spent the time to refine all of that so there's no thinking with their products.

Read through this thread. Also, search from the Main part of this forum for other alternative threads. There are some back there buried which are very helpful too.

Check out evepet's blog, http://diettalktoday.com/, she's specializing in writing on alternatives.

Come on here and ask questions. I spent 3 months on IP until I switched to alternatives. I did lots of research and still got caught missing some ingredient or serving size, but it can be done. I've continued to lose just fine.

  • Thank you Molly! I'm thinking I'll spend this week researching all of the alternative threads, so much knowledge from experience on these boards. I'll be sure to check the info carefully before I purchase.

Alternative newbie question..how many carbs does it take to push an item over to restricted?

8 or more net carbs is a restricted item
  • I printed the sheet under the sticky post which has all the nutritional numbers for IP on it. I then compared the numbers of similiar alternative products to it.

after you try different alternative products you usually end up with favorites that you reorder quite a bit.
