  • Quote: I made my own thread on here a few days ago but only really got one answer. Was just wondering if this sounds like a good menu to follow every week.I'm new to alternatives and would hate not to lose weight.

Also for the shake....found this one at Shoppers Drug Mart & Atlantic Superstore....called Whey Gourmet Naturelle...Here's a few nutrition facts...

    120 satisfying calories
Low in fat, only 2 grams (18 calories) per serving
Low in carbs, only 5 grams (20 calories) per serving
Provides a full serving of protein, 20 grams per serving
    Low in sodium
High in calcium for strong bones
Rich in amino acids, especially the branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) which help to build and repair lean muscle tissue

Would that be a good shake to take?
Are you getting your 8 oz of lean protein in also?

    Evepet,
Is the ChocoRite protein powder, when made into a shake, thick and creamy?

Yes, it's pretty good. I'll definitely buy it again. Plus I like the ingredients, etc.

Yes I am getting it for dinner with my 2 cups of veggies

And to evepet...thank you so much for all your help, you've been a life saver I've looked around a bit and have found the Synthrax Nectar Sweets Whey Protein shake...I'm thinking this might be a good one.

Have you tried the french vanilla protein powder? the chocolate? How do they taste? I realize we have different senses of taste but appreciate your opinion.

I've been buying GNC's Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein powder in deep rich chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Standard serving is 120 cal, 1 g fat, 3 g carbs. Pretty good but not thick and creamy, so add spinach or sometimes WF choc syrup or collagen. Just looking at others...

The only one I've tried is the cappucino and I most often mix it in with my morning coffee rather than drink it alone. I have used it alone a while ago, and have kind of forgotten exactly what the texture and thickness is like on it's own... I'll use it tomorrow am and pay more attention to it's density alone, prior to pouring into my coffee. I know exactly what you mean because I've also got another brand of protein powder I've been using alone most of the time, and it produces a thinner consistency shake too. I'd like to get another new variety, but feel like I need to use up some of my existing supply first. Too many cans of protein shake powder in my cupboards. Usmcvet has mentioned he liked the ChocoRite protein shake mixes... Maybe you can ask him for more info in tomorrow's chat?

That looks more like one I'd try too. Hope it's a nice consistency, and tasty. The reviews I found seem to be very favorable. If you try it, be sure and let us know how you like it.
  • I am switching to alternatives and need to know what supplements to take vs ip ones

I just looked on the back of the bottles and went from there. I get most of mine from Costco.
  • I am also switching to some alternatives. Placed orders from both Netrition and Nashua.

RE: Vitamins/supplements - I forgot to purchase more Cal/Mag at last WI (I go every 2 weeks). Am taking one of the Citracals and a seperate Magnesium in place of each of the IP ones. Means more pills per day, but looks to be fairly comparable. I've also been taking extra Vit. D every day anyway.
  • While I was still going to my clinic I ran out of cal/mag and they had run out too. The coach said to go to Walmart and just buy a one-a-day vitamin, that would be fine.

So I wondered why I was paying 3 times as much for IP vitamins.

But I still buy the IP potassium one at Shopforprotein.com

  • I did a whole lot of label comparing for vitamins. I found a Jamison brand to work for me, the closest I could get here. I take the Jamison super vita-vim twice daily as the multivitamin, intake the Jamison calcium magnesium and zinc as the cal-mag, I take biotin extra, fish oil extra, and I still buy the IP potassium as its impossible to buy that as 800 mg tabs. I found the Jamieson vitamins at Walmart and I'm hoping to find a bulk pack at Costco my next trip to the city.

Chloe222, I used my ChocoRite protein powder mix for breakfast today and paid more attention to the consistency. I'd say it's similiar in consistency once blended (I make it in the blender) to the RTDs I've got... definitely thicker than the other protein powder I'm using. Not as thick as 'meal replacement' shakes I've used sometimes in the past. Don't know if that helps or not?
  • Quote: As I make my way through for first Nashua order/week on alternates, I must say I'm not sure I can order the ProtiThin (?) vanilla wafer bars again . . . they're dribbled in what tastes like real chocolate . . . and not only taste good enough to eat but I'd actually want them off IP. So instead of treating them like restricteds I, of course, INHALED them like crack (do you inhale crack?)!

But this was the first time I cheated at all--yesterday was Day 1 of TOM and I ate 2 of the bars like they were cheesecake. I think I need my bars sorta okay like the IP versions ;-)
HAHAAAAHA @ inhaled like crack! Yay for mediocre bars!
  • Whey Alternatives
Hi all, I am loosing weight on IP but cannot tolerate all this whey! Making me feel sick. I am not allergic to milk but have an intolerance. I can handle it in small amounts. But twice or three times a day for two+ weeks has left me nauseated and with terrible diarrhea. I don't want to switch to straight soy either. So today I got some Vegan protein powder which has neither whey or soy but sadly is not as tasty as IP shakes. Anyone else with this problem? Can you share the alternatives you have found?
    Thanks
  • Did you do a lot of researching of products before switching or find that anyone had posted enough information and tips for ordering alternatives through this forum? I'm thinking about going alternative, mainly because of the price but am overwhelmed by the selection at Nashua's website and don't want to stray far from IP recommendations. Suggestions?
