They have Benefibre at any grocery store or Wal-Mart type store here (I'm in Alberta). It's in with all the stomach stuff. I got the one with B Vitamins in it. From what I understand psyillium and inulin are different, psyillium is like the husk of whatever it is coming from and inulin is chichory (sorry my spelling is off I don't have the jar with me) root. They are both plant based fibres. Keep in mind in order for this to work for me, I had to first get rid of the problem with CitraMag and start fresh. Hopefully something will start working for you, its a miserable problem to have

I have been waiting for someone to bring this up! I am on Week4, and have had this problem since day 3! I have upp'ed my water intake and have been taking stool softeners 2 morning, 2 night. It helps for what it says but its still awful. I am thinking of cutting back on the cal-mag pills. I didnt even think about that! I drank the Citrate Mag? that the doc told me about and that did not help at all. I feel bloated and sometimes my stomach just hurts! Loved being able to read about it and knowing that I am not the only one.

Nope - you are NOT alone with this issue!

Magnesium Citrate works wonders. I take 1500mg/day. It's cheap, too. Also, if you have a time where you just need to get it out try Milk of Magnesia and water. An 8 oz glass before and after you take it. An IP Doc told me to use it because it will hold the water in the gut and that helps get things going. Some of the other softeners are hard on the bowels.

Start with 1500mg a day and if it's too much, back off to 1000.

I need to try that. I like the effect of Calm but couldn't stand the flavor of it after a while.
I currently use Dulcolax and that really helps me.

Have you tried adding ground flax seed? I put it in meatballs, pasta sauce etc.

So glad I am not alone on this. I've been regular up to the last few days( week 2 IP). Now I am sitting here feeling awful!! I am eating without any cheats, doing the veg bit, and salads as well. Took some miralex last night, to no avail. Will try my ducolax again too.

Feeling so uncomfortable right now, and I have so much to do!!!!

I looked up the fiber supplements, and indeed, citracel, metamucil and benefiber all use different fibers. Don't know where I got the idea they were all psyllium. I may try switching - maybe my body just got used to the psyllium and the inulin (wheat fiber) will help. I wanted to start adding flax seed, but was told it was a no-no for now. You'd think that with the amount of water we are all drinking, that this would not be a problem....I'm at about 100 oz/day!

Consider adding ground up chia seeds to your shakes, sprinkle them on your salads, etc. They are high in fiber and omega 3's, but very low in carbs, calories, and fat. You will definitely be going to the bathroom regularly if you eat 2 tablespoons a day.

Chia Seeds dried - 1 tablespoon:
calories: 32
Fat: 3 grams
Carbs: 3 grams
Fiber: 3 grams
Protein: 2 grams

Default not a problem anymore!

Hi! I had this problem for the 1st couple weeks until I started eating lots of spinach. I don't eat salads-just spinach for my 2 cups of veggies once and often 2x a day. I sometimes eat it as a salad-but usually I cook it on the stove with 1tsp of olive oil and then put cajun seasonings on it-makes it taste sooo good! I verge on having the opposite problem now!

The best thing I have found to combat this problem is either walking for a half hour or getting on the elliptical for about 20 minutes. Either one seems to get things moving!

I hope one of them will work for you! I had to bring out the ExLax again, which I wasn't too happy about. I guess it will be something I struggle with while OP. Most days the Benefibre has been enough for me and this will be the second time in weeks that I've needed an extra boost. For me the big C is the worst feeling. I get bloated and feel fat, and with all the extra air in my guts, it somehow makes me feel hungry. I know that doesn't make sense, because you think one would feel full. I don't know. Anyways, it makes me feel better knowing more of you are experiencing the same issues I am.

You can get them at many health food stores, iherb.com (the white Salba brand), and I think even amazon.com sells them.

I personally buy mine from Hidago Foods because I buy 12lbs at a time (they come in 1lb bags) and they are the most economical. I get the cold milled ones because it is supposedly easier to absorb the nutrients, but they do NOT have to be milled. There is also no nutritional difference between the black seeds and the white seeds, but the white seeds are less obvious if you add them to recipes, etc.

http://hidalgofoods.com/

There are a ton of recipes out there on google...I love chia seed and how flexible it is, and that you get some nutritional value as opposed to all the various non-nutritional fibers mentioned earlier in the thread. They also help you feel full too.

I added it to my cappuchino shake tonight!
