I have been on IP for 8 weeks and have noticed a lot of bruising. Any ideas what this is from or why it's happening?

Are you taking all your supplements and eating enough protein? I think that an Iron defficiency causes bruising.

I have the exact same problem. I scratched a mosquito bite on my leg and got a fist sized bruise! I'll be going to the doctor to have an analysis done on my blood and will let you know if they find anything. I'm suspecting it's iron as PP said.

i have been on IP for almost 4 weeks now. I went for a blood test last saturday and have a large bruise around the needle sight. I used to donate plasma and they use larger needles and i never had an issue with brusing.

Bruising can also be indicative of a Vitamin K deficiency, which is not normally ordered in a standard blood draw. You have to ask for it.

FYI: I do not know anything about the IP program, esp. the type of eating it entails and whether it could contribute to a vit. K deficiency. Just sharing info...

OMG I have been bruising like crazy too! I never thought about it being related to my diet. I;ll have to keep my eyes on it.

Just read something that said that Vitamin K requires fats to absorb it. Even though we are taking in enough leafy greens (or at least I am anyways), perhaps the low fat portion of the IP Protocol works against absorbtion of the essential Vitamin K.

If you are getting your oil in every day (2tsp EVOO) that shouldn't be an issue.

Wow I am glad I am not alone. I have had many bruises of my arms and legs over the past 9 months.

I'm not sure about the bruising but I know your period can get heavier and last longer so there are definitely "blood/hormone" things at play...

I bruise like a peach! I have bruises EVERYWHERE. I have always been clumsy, so bruises aren't completely out of the ordinary for me, but this amount of bruises alarmed me at first. I know that it is simply a side effect that I am experiencing. My coach doesn't seem too concerned about it either and if he is not worried then I am not worried!

OK, my friend and I are on Day 17/Week 3, and we both find we are bruising easily. I just sent my coach an email asking about it. I am wondering if it is related to fat loss -- I Googled "bruise easily" and it says as we age we bruise more easily because we are losing a protective layer of fat in our skin. I am 52 & my friend is 50. But we're only in our 3rd week on IP, and still have a long way to go. I'm a real klutz so am not looking forward to months of bruising. Is there anything I can do to avoid this?

Bruising may mean you have a blood clotting problem. This may also increase your chances of internal bleeding. I am not sure whether your coach is a bona fide medical doctor. If not, he/she may have either no clue or be more interested in selling you product.

I'm a bruised mess since starting this diet! Large ugly bruises on my legs, just in time for shorts season! Lol!
I did just have routine blood work done and everything came back normal. However, i was low normal for B12, starting that vitamin tonight.
