Way to go lynsey good first week back! :)

...I'm pretty stoked about being in the 180's...even if it's the very top! My gf today told me that I need to sit up and stand up straighter. My posture is horrible so I think I need to really pay attention to that.

I'm being honest here...I seriously think my fluff made me lazy with my posture. I think I could rely on it to keep me up right when I was sitting if that makes sense...my coach gave me a little 'shush' when I said that to her. I'm not trying to be mean to myself, I just honestly think my rolls kept me straight and now that they aren't there I need to consciously sit properly.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

You are so right about the posture things. When I made my son take my new picture yesterday then I looked at it, I was like WOW you need to stand up straight your tummy is sticking out. I just need to learn all over again. When I get on the Wii I noticed that I am more stable now in my core than I used to be and I have been doing the Yoga on it and it seems to be helping. I am home alone all day so I "play" around on it all day and get my workouts on it. Yesterday I felt like a NEW woman, I had NO pain at all and I was walking NORMAL with NO limp at all....I told my son...hey look at me....lol...he said I see that mom, its amazing, we can go shopping all day now and you won't hurt. I even get in my truck the "right" way using my side step. Before I had to step up with my right foot, sit then swing my body around under the steering wheel. Now I step up with my left foot and put my booty in the sit :D. When I drive his car I no longer have to push the seat all the way back to get in and now in fact I can drive it the way he sits with no adjustments. OHHH and as far as the seat belt goes, I can now just reach with my right arm and pull it over me and snap it IN ONE MOTION!!!....I know this sounds weird but for me this is a BIG thing. OOPS...sorry for the ramble, hope y'all have a good day.

For those of you who have a tea addiction like me.....

Any of you hear of or been to Tevana. OMG! The entire back wall of the store is called the Tea Wall (see link). Those tins are probably 2 plus gallon sized. There is no such thing as a tea bag here....everything is loose and usually priced per 2 ounces. They open the lid and literally wave the aroma at you. Colors of tins represent different teas (white, green, etc.) Samuari Chai Mate' and White Ayurvedic Chai (blended) and My Morning Mate' (haven't had in quite sometime) are my favorites. Love to stop in and have them make me a nice hot cup of tea! Samples galore in the store that smells like heaven!

Highly recommend!!!!!

Lisa, that's wonderful that your body is responding so well. Count your blessings, darlin'! and by all means keep it up. I might just have you taking a yoga class along side me before long! :)

OMG! You do have to come to Berlin for brunch, but stop in Paris first. Visit Marriage Freres' Maison Fondee Tee shop in the 2nd arronondissment. Purveyors of fine (I mean the finest) teas since 1854. (Sorry, there are accents over the Es in Tee, Fondee and Freres, but you can probably see that.) You'll be in hog heaven.

Cat, I actually have been doing yoga on the Wii for the last few days and doing pretty well at it. I think that is why my hip hasn't been bothering me too much. I do it for 30 minutes a day then I do the 5 mins run on the games to get started. I am liking the yoga, so its a daily thing for me when I wake up :)

ItsAboutTime 01-12-2012 06:02 PM

I love yoga on the Wii Fit Plus. I also have a Biggest Loser dvd with some yoga that is ok. I never have time to do it when I'm taking classes though. I should drag it out for awhile if I do have any extra time. Thanks for reminding me I have it!

Yeah for yoga! My body is addicted to it...seriously. It lets me know when its time to practice. I have never really liked following DVD's mainly because they make you go at their pace. Sometimes I need a little bit longer working myself into a pose. That's one of the things I wanted to mention to the two of you (or for anyone else for that matter), please promise me you will practice with mindfullness. That means that rather than focusing on the end product, pay attention to you body as move from position a to postion b. If it hurts, stop, back off and readjust. After all these years, I am constantly readjusting myself. Everyday is different and our bodies react differently. My shoulder and upper back were killing me yesterday from Wed. nite's class. I worked too hard getting into Triangle pose. I took it deeper than I should have. Why? Because I always have been able to do so, but Wed. was not a good day for me to do that.

OK.....now I'm rambling. I'm happy you guys found yoga. Do enjoy, be careful and your body will let you know how happy it is. Once you get comfortable with your asanas (poses), see if you can't find a class to attend. Don't be intimidated. Everytime we have a new student in our class I always introduce myself and then tell them to PLEASE not watch me but to pay attention to the instructor. And I kindly remind them that none of us are watching them because we are being mindfull of our own practice.

Namaste......

WOW! Reading the words Yoga and Wii is inspiring me. I had to quit doing yoga in August due to rotator cuff tear and surgery. I did the same thing 2 1/2 yrs ago on my other side. Seems downward and upward dogs are not in my best interest but the other poses were great and were greatly improving my flexibility. It's kind of scarey to start again but Wii does allow for being selective and no pressure from those around me (they don't pressure me - I'm very competitive and pressure myself).

I had lost my 50 pounds but gained two months of holiday pounds back (15). I began IP year ago this month and am excited to be back on board. This morning I broke back into the 100s which was soooo exciting.

3fatchicks really motivates and supports me. Thanks for being here all you thinning chicks! Smile

I am going to have to try that again, I just wasn't balanced when I was doing it before... that will be my goal this week to get off my butt and onto the wii... thanks for the motivation ladies.

Welcome back! Glad you hear yoga calling your name once again. Having an instructor to help guide you because of your injuries may be very important for you. There are so many benefits to those poses (not just for transitioning into others) that I hate to see you shy away from them. There are so many way to modify asanas. If you don't have access to a teacher, perahps googling the pose plus your injury to possible find some modifications? If not, maybe I could ask my long-time teacher for some information....

My previous post was referring to trying to not be so competitive with ourselves. Slow down, breathe, enjoy the process and then revel in your body's response. After all these years, I am still unable to go from down dog to a standing forward bend by jumping my feet to my hands. The hips and knees just won't let me....but I keep trying!

I keep forgetting to ask. How IS your knee doing?

lbixby 01-13-2012 01:46 PM

Can anyone explain to me why we are not allowed Aspartame? I am not on IP but have been using Pure Protien prodcuts. I have lost 6lbs the first week and after 12 days have lost 9lbs. I plan on starting IP next thursday but wanted to get a jump on it. I am a huge diet pepsi drinker and I just wanted to know what would be the harm if i don't give it up.

The underlying problem with my knee is still there. Only surgery will correct the torn meniscus. Understand that this diagnosis was made with professionally educated "guesses". I have not had a MRI...yet. Based upon my "symptoms" and the way my body was reacting, the "assumption" was made. 6 weeks of good physical therapy strengthened my muscles and helped to correct some major imbalances I had developed after carrying around all that weight and allowing my body to compensate for my 18 year old injury. Who would of thunk it? :( I am doing so much better. I haven't had many knee "wobble" episodes thanks to the stronger and more properly aligned muscles. I perform my therapy exercises every other day.......the process continues.

Thanks you for asking.....:)

The body reacts to aspartame the same way it does to sugar/carbs. It causes the pancreas to secrete insulin. Sucralose in moderation (Splenda) does not do this. The science behind the Ideal Protein diet places your pancreas in a hiberantion mode to allow it to rest and reprogram itself. Working through the phases and properly waking up your pancreas in Phase 3 with the re-introduction of low glycemic carbs is the key to this being a successful weight loss/maintenance program.

Time to tell your Diet Pepsi goodbye for awhile. It will be there when you finsih the program. Continuing to ingest aspartame will on program will most likely undermine your success. There are other caffeine alternatives, but water is your best friend.

Good luck.....this program works if you follow the rules.

OK... I've never admitted it before but it is time. I love caramel colored poisonous stuff! I do only have about one Diet Pepsi One each week and then only if I see it. My new drink of choice after water and coffee is seltzer water Perrier Lime. I limit that too. What now feels like poison to me is any diet drink with aspartame... And watch out - though I mentioned HealthSmart foods as good substitutes, some are made with aspartame. LABELS LABELS LABELS...

Good morning everyone,

Got lots of snow in the past 2 days and today its freezing. We usually have a truck that comes and shovel our driveway but this year we can't as my van is broken and in the driveway so its not wide enough for the truck to come. Yesterday when i spoke to my daughter after she got home from school, she says mom i can go sledding..we have a bit snowbank in our driveway...ugh yeah that's what i wanted to hear...the city had went by and put hard snow/ice up to our knees all along my driveway, took us over an hour to shovel. I decided to have an extra egg for dinner because of that, lol.

WI this morning -3, very pleased :) Doing bootcamp this week, i already miss my chocolate soy puffs.

Kids want to go sledding this morning, trying to get out of it...its fine for them as they're running around but i don't feel like standing around in -25 weather.

Have a great OP week-end :)

Good morning. Just a few quick minutes to catch up before I start homework for the day. This morning I purged drawers again. It felt great trying on all the clothes I wore not that long ago that were way too big now. I had some capris I wanted to get into last summer but it never happened and now I won't be wearing them this summer either. For different reasons of course. I have a huge pile for consignment and I threw a huge pile away too.

Nothing like making you feel good when the diet doesn't seem to be going as well as planned.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi DollFaceBella, I haven't been able to find any either in 4000 IU pill form, so I use a liquid form, the Genestra brand called D-Mulsion 1000 and take 4 drops daily. It is around $20 for the 30 ml bottle. I get it from a naturopath clinic but have googled it and found it for sale online. It has no added wheat, yeast, gluten, corn, sugar, artificial flavorings or colourings, or dairy. I would rather take 1 4000 pill if I could find 1, but Dr. at the clinic prefers the D-mulsion liquid over pills.

Hey Everyone,

Ok, I've read the book, I need to read it again. But right now I'm looking for the explaination of the cheat day (scanned...can't find it). I know it, I get it, it's not a big deal to me but I am having problems explaining it to someone.

Does anyone know if it's even in the book (where)...??

Paint Lady 01-15-2012 07:29 PM

Ishbel, Maybe it's on his website? I know I read about it somewhere, either the book or his site. I thought I remember reading that it was mandatory, but can't remember the exact wording.

It's mandatory, I just want to learn how to explain it to a non IP person who is supporting me...but has lots of questions lol. I need his words as I'm stumbling over mine :). I'll keep looking...never thought to look on his actual website.

I have it written in my IP Phase 4 Dieter's Handout given to me by my coach.

"THE CHEAT DAY....It is not recommended but mandatory to take one day out of the week and indulge in your favorite foods with all the trimmings. This cheat day of course should never turn into a cheat week. What is considered a cheat? That’s entirely up to you! What do you love to eat? And there is no guilty feeling afterwards or worry that the weight will be put back on. The following day you will eat as you did in phase 1 and restrict carbohydrates. We know that a carbohydrate and a fat is a bad food combination in the presence of insulin. Insulin is the key that stores the combination into the fat cell (weight gain!). therefore we restrict carbohydrates and we will have a very little glycemia in our blood and the pancreas will produce very little insulin. No extra insulin means no key, so no fat storage. Our bodies will eliminate the “cheats" naturally."

Paint Lady 01-15-2012 08:26 PM

Ok, just read the book and his website again. I found no mention of a cheat day being mandatory, just what to do if you have a major slip. My IP stuff is the same as Cat's.

Paint Lady 01-15-2012 08:31 PM

Also says don't worry about packets if you don't have them, instead have some non-fat yogurt and coffee/tea for breakfast, then lean meat and veggies and salad for lunch and dinner. This might be easier for those of us that are missing our breakfast on those mandatory phase 1 days.

Ishbel 01-15-2012 08:38 PM

Thanks ladies! Cat your tea will be in the mail tomorrow! :)

Good morning everyone. Had an off weekend. One big cheat and lots of little ones. Today is a new beginning. I will lose at least 20 pounds by the time I'm 30. I have to get my head back where it was in June when I started.

Good morning all! Yesterday was my birthday so I had a wonder OP dinner with my family!! We also got some snow... For those of you on the east. Our snow would be nothing. But they make a huge deal about it here... I guess we are suppose to get around 3-6 in the next 36 hours... So we will see!! Hope everyone had a good weekend....

We also may need to start a new thread. I'm surprised they haven't shut us down yet!!
