Hate to be a chronic complainer but after seeing all the good losses it's hard not to be upset. Especially when you were right on and doing exactly what the diet said to do.

LYNSEY!!! This too shall pass. JUst hang in there , do your phase 3 and get to maintenance and enjoy your vacation. Jan. will be here soon and you can go back to phase 1 and lose your weight. I feel for you though.

Good Morning Ipeeps!

I have a question for you experienced Ipers: In phase 3, do I need to add a protein snack if I'm exercising?

I started jogging and strength training in phase 2 - and dare I say I actually like it? I hear myself say it, but I have to tell ya, it sounds like an out-of-body experience. This is the first time in my life where I feel like my body isn't working against me when I exercise. I hope that means this time I'll stick with it as I journey into maintenance and more permanent lifestyle changes.

Thanks for your advice!
Jo

I have exercised throughout my whole IP journey and I take in (1) extra packet on every day that I exercise. I usually do an RTD chocolate as I can throw it in my gym bag and have it immediately after my workout. So, my answer is yes, add in an extra packet on workout days, and take it as soon as you are done exercising.

Thanks Jenny! I appreciate it. BTW, you look amazing!

So, today is my last day of phase 3 for this round. I am officially 2 lbs over my goal weight. I lost almost 3 lbs in phase 3, maybe I'll get those other 2 lbs off in maintenance. Either way, I'm happy right now where I am. I broke down and bought a new pair of jeans last night and a new lightweight jacket. I need them, nothing fits anymore except for a few things people have given me. I had saved a bunch of clothes from when I was this size before, but they just don't look good anymore. I can't believe I packed and moved with those clothes more than once.

I was thinking the same thing. I too, saved alot of my clothes, which I can fit into. but I find that I dont really care too much for them. even the jeans... I'm not sure if its a "style" change or what?!?!

Paint Lady 12-21-2011 08:06 PM

I think it is a style thing. All of my jeans were higher waisted and all of my shirts were sort of cropped, hitting right at the waist. Nobody wears that style now. Tops are longer and jeans are lower. Even the colors of jeans are different now. Plus, I've had 2 kids. My stomach is not as flat as it was, and my butt is flatter, lol. My old clothes belong with my old body, not this one!

2RIDEROLLERCOAST 12-22-2011 10:47 AM

That is a very good point, with our new bodies we do need to have new clothing to go with it...

Good Morning Experienced Ipeeps,

I have a question for you and I will appreciate your advice.

I was 4 days into Phase 3 when the holidays hit. I had hoped to remain OP, but didn't. I made it through day 1 of 3 days of celebrations, but was off plan on Days 2 and 3. I plan to Phase 1 today. I'm assuming I should begin my 14 days of Phase 3 again - beginning tomorrow. Since I had two days off plan, should I Phase 1 for additional days until I return to my lowest weight and then begin Phase 3?

Thanks for your advice! Much appreciated!

And, thank heavens my hubby and I are not big into New Years celebrations!

Jo

Paint Lady 12-26-2011 08:27 PM

That's a good question. If this happened to me, I would do the 1 day of phase 1 that you probably already did, then do phase 2 until you reach the weight you want. The 2 weeks of phase 3 are very important, so I would definitely do them properly. Good luck!

DollFaceBella 12-27-2011 12:47 PM

Hello all! Gosh it's been ages since I posted even though I have been lurking. I'm comfortably into maintenance now and though I have gained a few back I have also given myself permission not to stress about it...I have a plan ;) I've been a tad out of control the last week, my Grandpa passed away on Thursday, and I really was not thinking about me. Not eating when or as I should. I woke up Christmas morning feeling blah about myself so I took the bull by the horns and watched everything that I ate. I didn't eat perfect but more importantly I think, I did not over eat. I am starting the P90X on Jan 1st, I've mapped out a few sample meals based on what we have learned from IP and also what the recommendations are for getting the most out of the program. So I have a clear plan for the next 13 weeks, weight will not be my focus but I have given myself the permission to go back to Phase 1 at the end of it IF I need to. I think it's what I need or else I will get too obsessive and in the end the only one to suffer will be me.
I am so proud of all of you for taking this step, it can be a big leap of faith to start yet another diet. This really isn't a diet though, it's an education ;) I hope everyone had a great holiday and I wish every single one of you a very healthy and happy 2012... it's our year!!

Okay my concern is you are out of ketosis now, in order for phase 3 to work properly you should do phase 1 for at least a week and phase 2 until you get back to your weight and then do a complete 2 weeks of phase 3. good luck...

2RIDEROLLERCOAST 12-30-2011 01:03 PM

bump

JoLoMN 12-31-2011 07:20 AM

Thanks for the advice 2Ride. I did phase 1 for one day, and phase 2 for three days. When I met with my coach, I had returned to my lowest weight and and lost a bit more. She said it was fine to begin phase 3 again. I missed the big breakfasts so much, there is no way anything is going to take me off track again. I plan to complete these two weeks OP.

I know we just have to keep looking forward and remember this is a journey, not a destination... But I have to reflect on all the months I remained OP and why, when I'm so close to the end, my resolve has weakened. I'll need that more than ever in Maintenance, I'm sure.

Hope all the Ipeeps are having a great week!
Jo

Brrr! It's a cold morning in Minnesota today - only seventeen degrees F - we've been so spoiled by this mild winter we've been having!

Going shopping with girlfriends today and I'm looking for a few new items for work, and shorts and a swim suit for Hawaii next month.

Have a great day!

I imagine swimsuits aren't too popular in MN right now? Why not wait until you get to Hawai'i where you'll have a tremendous selection and an excuse to buy something there? I'm all for buying locally. :D (Live there when I'm not here.)

I just realized you are SO way too young to remember when major department stores would start to show their cruise wear line the first week in January. That's when they had real sales people and two-room suites, one to try on clothes, one to come out and display them to your husband or, hum, gentleman friend. Ah, those were the days. :D

you are probably right! I had NO clue what you were talking about... but still doesn't explain why there are bathing suits out in January!

Wuvs Mom 01-02-2012 11:46 PM

Jelly, I worked retail for 21 years and we always received bathing suits the first week of December. Seems stupid but believe me they were shopping the minute you would put them out. I would put them by the winter coats just for a good laugh. I noticed yesterday at Walmart the Valentine candy was already out on display.

Fizzyizzy 01-03-2012 12:03 AM

DollFaceBella- Good luck on p90x! How is it going so far? I did it for about 50 days last spring and then had a bad shoulder injury and quit, which really bummed me out that I got so far without completing it. Just from a personal experience, it got a lot easier for me after two weeks into the p90x program.

Anyway, I'm curious to know how you're enjoying it. I'm wondering myself how it would feel to do again with 30 pounds off my frame. Probably would make it a lot easier! I'd still have to deal with Tony's voice thought... ;)

Oh no, Valentine candy!! That means easter and hallowe'en candy will be close behind.

What I hate is when it gets really cold in the middle of winter and I have lost a truckload of gloves because I can't remember when I go inside that it is cold outside and I walk away without my gloves; there is not a pair to be found in any stores. Then all they have is beachwear and it's -30 around here.

LOL! When I found the swim suits, they were next to the winter coats and I did think - how strange! Now I know it was the retailers punking on me.:D

leganegan 01-03-2012 10:52 AM

I'm back... I was a disgrace to IP during my 2 weeks off. I hit maintenance December 15th at 134lbs... now I feel like I gained 40lbs back. But I am back to the healthy routine today. Phase 1 for a few weeks. I got a scale for Christmas so I will be holding myself accountable. My skinny clothes still fit me I just feel bloated and puffy. Shame on me, I know better, but man I needed that break and had a blast with friends and family.

At least at work I have been used to my IP routine for 5 months, so it is easy to get back on track today. :)

I would like 2 weeks to at least fly by so I feel healthy and energetic again, keeps me motivated.

I was looking at some just over the holidays. I didn't buy any because my trip isn't until March. BUT, here up in Canada, LOTS of bathing suits come out in Dec/Jan because people are on their way to somewhere warm.

:)

2RIDEROLLERCOAST 01-04-2012 12:12 PM

I so want to find a nice suit even if it is only to go to aquasize. Am scared to try them on still.... shouldn't be but. still see too much loose skin and grosses me out.

Walmart has all the summer wear out now along with the winter stuff for sale... need to stock up again on long sleeves.

welcome back all.

HAHA @ the Tony's voice comment! I started doing the P90 in December to get myself loosened up and prepped for the P90x so I've already had sufficient amounts of Tony ;)
I'm doing not too bad so far, day 3 officially, I do feel it in places I had forgotten existed but it is a good thing. I am a bit stiff but not sore to the point where I dread tomorrow. Tried an epsom salts bath last night and it didn't really work cause I'm already getting enough magnesium I assume. The hammies are fairly tight but nothing I can't work with, I am taking care to stretch them out 2 or 3 times a day. I did shoulders and arms today, taking it easy with the weights (5 and 8 lbs) but I think next week I will be able to push for 8 straight through and get that bonus round in. I'm trying the lean for the first month then switching to classic after that.

And I sooooo hear you ladies about the bathing suits. I was almost tempted to try one on since they were on sale at my bra shop last week but really...I haven't worn a bathing suit since I was 15 with any amount of confidence. Perhaps in the spring...I still want to reach 150 by summer so hopefully this workout will get me closer.
Leganegan... I do know that feeling of blah as well. There are days when I seriously don't feel any smaller than I did at 206, like I am oozing over my jeans. Those are the days when I really rein myself in and drink so much water that I contemplate just moving into the bathroom. LOL

Have a great day all!! :)

Ishbel 01-05-2012 02:10 PM

Ssssssssoooooooooooooooooooo,

I'm just going to throw this comment out there.

Any interest in keeping this thread going for the more experienced??? Like just general experienced......I didn't comment a lot in here before because it seemed like it was more for people phasing off. (maybe if there is we could have a phasing off thread?)

I'm not at that point in my journey yet so I shied away from the thread and I stuck to the daily thread. I'd love to have a place to call home besides the daily thread....anyone?

...anyone...anyone...anyone?? think wonder years if you don't get the reference lol

ItsAboutTime 01-05-2012 02:13 PM

I'm looking for a place to post now that I'm back in phase 1 so I'll stay here if you want. No phaseing for me for another few months. I'm hoping to be where I want to be by April.

I think its a great idea! To have a place to talk about the everyday thing we face after being on IP for quite awhile. I think you're right and there should be a thread for "phasing" and one for the experienced IPer.

I created this for the ones who weren't just beginning but not yet in maintenance either so it's a great place to be. I feel like I'm beginning again in some ways but still feel like I'm one of the experienced ones in others. I only did phase 3 2 weeks and phase 4 2 weeks just to phase out for vacation but all he!! broke loose! I am back now and day 1 of my restart is going great! I've been throwing water down my throat like a mad woman and it feels awesome. I love being in control but have a hard time getting back here once I've let go.

I think Darbs started this for people who'd been around 4 or more months. Man, if losing 100 pounds doesn't qualify as experienced, sure I don't know what in the world does! :D

Ok, good to know, than i might start posting here. I have read this thread quite often but it often seemed to me that discussions were mostly centered around phases 2, 3 and 4. I'll be in phase 1 for quite some time still, lol.

Hope you had a nice vacation btw :)

I did thanks! I posted a few pics on my blog if you follow the link in my siggy. Nothing big, just a few of my hubby and me.

Now I'm paying for it though. I had vacation in my head for far too long. Since Dec. 8th when I moved to phase 3 I've gained 13 pounds. Hoping and praying it's a lot of water weight so I can lose it just as fast, if not faster.

Not quite sure of my goal at this time but I do know I need to be at least 5 pounds under it when I phase off because I'm going to gain at least that back.

I love the easiness of phase 1. So glad to be back!

I think that I would rather call this "home" as well... Its nice to see the boards super busy, but I can only ready some of the same questions a couple of times!! Hope that doesn't sound too harsh!

Momto2cs 01-05-2012 02:52 PM

Hi
I am back to lose the last 10 pounds-or maybe more...I weigh in tomorrow to see the damage I did in December! I am on day 4 and already feel so much better! Back on phase 1 and back at the gym (which I never stopped)!

Plus, my dh is doing ip with me this time. He has about 50 to lose, so I am helping him by restarting!

I like the foods, but my downfall has always been the weekends. Lose Monday to Thursday only to regain. Hopefully having it be a family affair will curb that and I can finally reach my original goal!
