  • Quote: I can tell you about tricep exercises (believe it or not, I did get certified as a personal trainer although I haven't used it yet. My goal at the time was to have it as a post-retirement career and to be the oldest personal trainer in Canada).

I will see if I can find some youtube videos (when I get home from work) to demonstrate them.
I'm going to start a google doc for arm exercises and we can all edit it. I have a bad wrist, so there are lots of great exercises that I have to modify or avoid (the dip)... I will post when I've got my act together.
  • Check this out. Add exercises as you learn about them... and I think google docs allows you to include links to outside places (youtube, etc.).

  • So I posted in the daily thread but I'm going to here too.

Today is my four month anni for IP and I have to say that the thing that makes me feel the best...is that I can say "I've been without sugar for four months". WOW just typing that (twice today) makes me feel SO great.

Thanks to all of you and your support/encouragement/wisdom/guidance/recipes

  • Quote: I had an interesting NSV when I came into work today.
A couple of years ago, I had to have a special office chair bought in because the (economical) chairs that they have here were not built for my then 220lb frame, and were giving me all sorts of back and hip issues. So an ergonomic, wider chair was purchased for me. (yes, at the time, I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me whole because I was so embarassed!). Today, lo and behold, the chair was gone and replaced with a new slimline one. I asked my boss about it and she said that the other one was needed elsewhere, and that she was so proud of me that she wanted to reward me with a snazzy new one. I just said OK and thank you (I guess?) and headed back to my office, on the way back I spotted my old wide-load chair in the office of a co-worker. This co-worker has done nothing but criticize my loss, lectured me constantly about how important my pancreas is and has continued to offer me foods that she knows are a big no-no.....all the while stuffing her mouth with anything she could get her hands on! I'm guessing that she is well over 240lbs, so I've always tuned her out. I haven't seen her yet today...but is this ever justice or what??

I can't help thinking that my boss is being a sly ol' fox and doing this on purpose (she has told this co-worker to leave me alone and mind her own business a couple of times) to teach her a lesson.

Just as a side note, this co-worker tried it on with my hubby about a year ago (she actually told him that he could do better then me!)
LMAO... too funny!! I am sure your boss is very proud of your efforts.

Quote: made me laugh, it apparently works...
    ...

Kind of nice still getting wow and your skinny, and every time I see you you are a different size. I still don't see it even though I know I am thinner than anyone in Edmonton has ever seen me except for one person who I grew up with, she remembers me as a skinny little thing... Tried on some size 7 jeans from my closet today... they fit,a little tight but they had no pockets and for work I really need pockets. So I settled for size 8 jeans instead. who would of thought me in size 7 & 8... now onto 6s.
Congratulations on the size 7! You'll be in size 6 in no time.

WTG!!! What a nice thing for your boss to do. But I can not imagine working with a co-worker like that! Where does she get off sticking her nose in everyones' business?

I hear you! Congratulations! I haven't had sugar or bread since February 24th! Pretty amazing when you think about it.
  • PXLKITTY: Thanks for the spreadsheet, what a great idea!
A friend of mine has the shake weight...i don't know whether you've seen it, but it is quite bizarre...and...I guess the word is 'inappropriate' looking (snigger!). Anyway, I tried it and you should have seen my arm flab...it was flapping around so much I'm suprised it didn't take my eye out!! I managed to use it for about 1 minute before my arms started burning...I must have dont something wrong, because my upper arms are screaming right now!!

A question for P3'ers....How are you finding breakfast? I'm having a really difficult time getting it all down. I drink plenty of water, but about half way through, my throat gets dry and I don't want to eat anymore. Coach says I can spread out my breakfast and eat it slowly til mid-morning....Honestly, I really don't have time to do that...plus, the protocol sheet says that breakfast should be consumed at one sitting. Here is what I am eating:
2 slices of WW toast - buttered
    2 eggs
    2 strips bacon
    1 cup berries
    1 cup greek yogurt

It's really stressing me out...I was NEVER a breakfast eater and have been told all my life that skipping breakfast was one of the reasons I struggled with my weight....so, I want to get this right, for the rest of my life - but right now, just the idea of breakfast makes me want to stay in bed!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

OMG that's a huge breakfast! How come so much food? What are you required to eat? I was always a big breakfast eater but even for me - a person who had an omelet every morning that is big.

i know, right??? This is the breakfast that my coach and i came up with (it's also a sample menu on the p3 protocol sheet).
Hubby made me an omelete this morning, with bacon and mushrooms, I managed one toast with it - then ate about 6 strawberries, dipped in yogurt - that's all I could get down!

Sorry, didn't mean to freak you out...that's why I didn't post it on the daily thread!...continue your focus on phase 1 you are doing a great job! don't let the upcoming phases stress you - my issues aren't typical, you'll do great when you get to phase 3!
  • Hi all! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far. I'm excited, had my WI this morning, down another 2 pounds. I talked with my coach about my problems with hairloss and my constant hunger (I've up'd it to 6 proteins a day, still losing, and still starving lol). She said what I hoped she would, that the hunger is my body saying I'm ready to phase off. My fat/lean mass percentages are healthy, and I am so excited that I'll start phase 3 next Sunday. Yayyy!

Congrats to everyone on their NSV's, by the way!!!

JackieGee: Phase 3 breakfasts ARE big. They have to be - there are certain things we have to fit in to one meal (breakfast) to restart our pancreas and "train" it to secrete only the right amount of insulin. I'm so excited that I'll be able to have toast, and peanut butter, and yogurt, and fruit.... Who'd've thought that those little things would make me so ecstatic?!

Yay!!! Congrats!! I started Phase 3 yesterday!! So far I'm loving it!! Best wishes!!
  • You girls have me drooling thinking about P3 breakfast! It is bigger than I used to eat before IP, but pretty much the same foods. I used to have (1) egg + (2) egg whites scrambled, (2) pc. ezekiel cinnamon raisin toast with little bit of butter. OMG! I can't wait to eat that again. Although it sounds like I will be getting a lot more food. Not sure what I will be able to replace the yogurt with though, since my system does not tolerate dairy. But I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I will actually be able to get a little taste of P3 in mid-September when I do a mini phasing off in preparation for a vacation.

I did not get to get my body fat tested today. The woman at my gym who does it needed to reschedule so I am hoping for either Wed or Thurs evening.

Some people would make the yogurt and berries into a smoothie. It might make it easier to get that last bit in or squeeze it in at times that seem less than convenient.

The idea of the big breakfast is to create a single insulin spike in the morning and then allow the pancreas to be less active the rest of the day. Doing so should help retrain it to produce better levels of insulin on a regular basis.

Also, you want those carbs earlier in the day where they will be better used and burned off.
  • Long time until I get to that stage, but if I ate 2 pieces of WW toast I'd be up 5 pounds by the next day. I just can't handle wheat. Keep us posted how it goes Brummie.

Would you mind adding me to the Facebook page as well? I tried to send you a message but it won't let me until I have 10 posts. I've been on IP for 5 months now and reading everyone's comments has been so encouraging!
