Default Looking for the tall girls...

Hey y'all, I am new to this thread. I recently started (3 weeks ago) IP and I love it! I have less than 20lbs to lose and I am tall. I am interested in those who are tall and their average weight/fat loss?

I am a 34 year old female who started at 185.2 and I am down to 179.0 I have lost 4.9 pounds of fat and my BMI has gone from 27.3 to 26.4. My percent body fat has gone from 39.2 to 37.9 I have not exercised due to my coach advising me against it, but I really miss it.

Have any of you exercised? I really don't care about my weight number, I really want to lose fat and gain muscle and get my BMI to 19-20ish and my body fat percentage to about 29-30 ish.

Any pointers??

Thanks,
Darcee

Hi Darcee, fwiw, I plugged in your numbers of 5'9 1/2" and 179 lbs on my BMI calculator and it yielded a BMI of 26.1 I did it twice. If 3FC doesn't allow the external link, you can Google NIH and BMI and it's the first result, in case you'd like to check it out. I'm curious which BMI calculator you used to get such a different number.

Thumbs up We are in the same boat

Hey Darcee,
My name is Pam, and I started IP about a month ago, and well, lets just say this is my second ,after being sick.
I did ask my coach about exercise and she told me that walking would be okay, like up to two miles. no weight training, or anything super strenuous.
The first time around, I was absolutely wiped in fact, it freaked me out a bit, so I actually went off the program because of how I was feeling but as it turned out all was normal.
I myself love to run but have avoided that too. It does feel like something is missing though, I know what you mean.
Hang in there,go for gentle walks, just listen to how you are feeling.

Pam

Hello fellow tall-ish girl This is my 2nd round of IP (the 1st time I met goal, maintained for several months, & then got a little too loose with the rules - phase 1 after indulgence day was a little too loose, eating copious amounts of trail mix, getting into my past bad habit of having a couple of glasses of wine each night, etc... So bucked up, jumped on the scale, freaked out & restarted phase 1 that very day).

I chose to continue to exercise this time. I do a Tracy Anderson dvd daily on weekdays (the muscle work, NOT the dance cardio) & a yoga dvd on the weekend days. I add an additional unrestricted the days I exercise. I'm currently at 152.2 & am aiming to hit 145 for goal. I realize I plump back up a bit when I phase off so want to plan for that. I think the top end of my range will be 150, but I'll see how I feel when I get there. I'm pretty fit so when I get to the 140s I have to be careful to avoid that haggard, gaunt face look. You'll have to wait & see how your body reacts/looks & make a decision when you get close to goal - good luck!

I'm doing a reboot to loose about 13 pounds - I have about 5-6 to go.

I wish I had done a little exercising the first go round. I'm thin (still hard to say that), but I'm flabby and not much muscle. The loose skin makes it look worse (IMHO). I have photos of myself with that gaunt face as well. My upper body is thin, but my legs could use to loose. I'm living that truth that you loose fat and some muscle and gain back fat.

I took a one hour yoga class at the beginning of my reboot, loved it, but don't want it to slow my losses. I have a DVD with 15- 20 minute videos -just need it start. I'm thinking of doing them when I get up before I get ready for work. If they're that short and not intensive, should I eat another packet?

I don't like to excersize, just need to do it and remember how it feels after and find something I like and realize that I need to do it.

I am so glad I found this thread! I am on day 3 (after a 2 yr hiatus from IP) My first time around I lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks and it was great. Unfortunately I didn't phase off and gained it all back. I am short at 5'0" but would love to lose 20 lbs. I've never been so excited to diet. I know this program works but still craving my carbs and wine.

I'm no expert by any means, but the kind of exercise you are doing sounds pretty gentle and I wouldn't supplement with an additional packet. I usually try to figure out if I believe I've burned 100+ calories and if the answer is yes, then I replace the calories. I also try to keep the supplemental packet on the lower carb & calorie end.

We do tend to lose in our preferred areas last - funny how that works... & I agree with you on the importance of finding something you enjoy doing. I also love yoga & have a few DVDs that I love and do them on the weekends. I enjoy the mindfulness of it

Hi guys!! I am also trying to lose 20lbs and I am 5.2". I started IP two weeks ago and miss the gym part a lot as well!! I usually lift 3-4 times a week and run 2-3 times a week! I just want to burn as much fat as possible and then get back to my workouts and a IPish/high protein diet. I am very tempted to go the gym, but i stop my self to avoid any setbacks with the IP.
But I am all ears to anyone who tried working out with IP and still did well!! Please advise! Thank you!!

The weight loss industry has really put a lot of non-truths in our heads.

Here is a good way to look at workouts

Weight loss in the kitchen
Fitness in the gym

Fat loss is 90% (or more!) about food consumption. So, don't stress about the gym time. Use it for maintaining fitness levels until you've lost all your weight then you can ramp back up. P1 doesn't give you enough energy for rigorous workouts. But it is FANTASTIC for fat loss.

I agree with Lisa! I am an exerciser and once I got the extra weight off and phased off, then I jumped back into it. It felt great to run without those 30plus lbs on and I also try and go to the gym twice a week to do weights. I really noticed the toning after a few weeks as I was pretty flabby after losing the weight. Exercise is my therapy! Love it! I also do zumba once a week which I am loving!

Thank you Lisa!! That makes sense!! My trainer always said the same thing and I used to wonder why am i not paying a chef to help me lose fat instead
Another quick question please.
Has anyone tried to eat real eggs instead of the IP omelet packet? I dont see much difference in the fat n carb content if i use 3 egg whites and 1 yolk. So why not the real thing?
PS: I am new to 3FC and still learning the ropes! Please bear with me!!

Nothing wrong with using real eggs instead of the omelette packet. I used the packet a few times because we were travelling and in hotels with microwaves & it was easier to take omelette packets and sturdy veg like celery & peppers than eggs to scramble up in the microwave. I figure you could probably buy some other type of packet instead and stretch your IP dollar. I put in my diary that I was doing omelette (which was true - with real eggs & whites though) long after I ran out of said packet and just saved myself a bit of money. Make sure you follow the guidelines for whole to whites on your P1 sheet - if you don't have one Lisa posts the links on the first post of the Daily Chat

WOW!! That sheet is so different from what my coach has given me!!Thanks Lisa and Liana!! It allows so many other raw veggies other than lettuce!!!(happy) And does NOT have filet mignon in the beef category!!(sad).Even the salt is 1/4tsp instead of 1/2 tsp!!
Also when you said" Make sure you follow the guidelines for whole to whites on your P1 sheet - if you don't have one Lisa posts the links on the first post of the Daily Chat " did you mean the IP1 sheet? I did not see guidelines for whole to whites there. I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction!!I am a little lost Thank you!!!

Hello,

I'm new and saw your thread. I need to lose 20 pounds and really need support and accountability. I would love to keep in touch with people here daily if possible. Don't know what to do or how to get started.

Also, how do I get one of those weight loss graphs?

Thanks!
