Now for the rest of my long day.... it's my late day today. No sleep last night, think I got about 90 minutes, baby was not having it. He woke up nice and early and laid in bed talking and cooing for hours, then when I finally got back to sleep he started screaming.... going to be a long, long day. |

I hear ya Coliep...ive got the munchies...so i went out and bought myself a water bottle with one of those flip top straws...so i just suck and chew on that when i feel like i need to eat something...In other words..its like..something to keep me from putting something else in my mouth... Besides.. i have a thing for straws! Funny right? But yah.. im still really tired...its only day 2 and im like BAHH! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope it goes away soon..When are we supposed to get that surge of energy?

Day 8, bad headache all day. I stayed extra hungry today, forgot to eat my pickle. Had a chocolate drink for breakfast, brussel sprouts and cauliflower for lunch, a lemon bar for snack. Can't wait to get home and find some meat and veggies and sleep.

Day 2 and doing 'ok'
So I am on the end of my second day and doing pretty good. I mean, I'm hungry right now, so I decided to come upstairs away from the kitchen and get on the computer. This is the hardest part of the day for me. It's hitting me how much i used to snack after work. I think everytime I walked by the kitchen before I must have grabbed something to eat. I have to think about not getting a snack now.
I'm not thrilled with the food so far, but I'm hopeful that I'll find something good. The caramel nut bar was FABULOUS. I'll definitely buy that again. I'm hearing mixed reviews about the pudding....any thoughts from experienced folks? |
I blew it. Totally off the wagon. I am very surprised at myself. It started with the peanut butter. Had done that the last few days (1-2 tbsp). Then...I took my kids (2 1/2 and 1) to see a movie. It was last minute, so I had nothing. I bought them raisinets, thinking it was the best choice. Turns out a 1 year old cannot eat them as is, so I had to bite each one in half. Needless to say I ate about 1/2 the box when all was said and done.
I had read that the degree of the digression is irrelevant, even the slightest causes you to have to start over and stalls weight loss 3-4 days. instead of taking that as an "I will start that moving forward now", I had a WTH moment and figured, well, since I am off the wagon I might as well be bad. So I came home and had more peanut butter. The upside? I actually feel pretty crappy. Not just the obvious disappointment over such a stupid thing to do, but my body feels crappy. I look forward to starting clean eating tomorrow. Words of Wisdom: DO. NOT. CHEAT. Don't do a little, don't divert, don't make up your own rules, don't don't don't. This is not a happy place to be, I know this little affair with peanut butter and raisinets (which I don't even really like BTW) has just cost me 4 days and about $60. Most expensive hour ever. |
Pick yourself back up, dust off and start over....

I think we've all 'fallen off the wagon' before. Don't dwell on it, just start fresh and try to remember how crappy you feel. |

You are all correct. I am admitting the mistake and moving on. Not starting tomorrow, starting now!! I am actually feeling beyond crappy . . . a lot of abdominal cramping and GI stuff. Guessing it is a direct result of the introduction of sugar and fat. I think I am in for a long night!

You could have your 2nd protein packet as lunch and your third as your snack between lunch and dinner with no post-dinner pack. That is what I was doing because I was hungriest before dinner, not after.

Thanks Coliep, i blew it with the bacon i suppose. I had 2 thin slices of uncured bacon and one egg. I will try the ip packets a little earlier as you suggested and have herbal tea for an after dinner treat. I appreciate you answering my questions, a lot of time they just go unnoticed. I am still trippin over all these different forums and threads. I tried to subscribe to a few with email notifications but i am not getting the notifications. I have a computer degree, lol. Doesn't seem to be helping me on this site!

Ha, I find this site incredibly frustrating to navigate!! don't worry too much about the bacon, it shouldn't have carbs or be too high in fats considering your quantity. My concern is that your protein will be too low for the day. The egg and the bacon combined probably only have about 10 grams of protein or so, whereas had you eaten 8 ounces of tilapia you'd have more like 40 (don't quote me . . . just guessing). So perhaps you should have a 4th packet tonight to ensure adequate protein? Not sure if that is advisable or not. I messed up my first week thinking avocado was on the ok list . . . and it wasn't. I still lost 6 pounds (of course, the first week is mostly water but still feels good to say!!).
Do you have the Phase 1 list of "approved" foods? That way you know what veggies you can have along with what protein sources? That is helpful for me to have around. It is on one of the Sticky threads I believe - maybe the tips for newbies? Use google as your search engine and it'll often lead you back to here in a faster way! I totalled my carbs today and despite the raisnet & PB fiasco, I think I am still under 100 which, for some, might not take me out of ketosis. Even if it does, shouldn't be long before I burn through that and get back on track taking advantage of all the fat burning benefits! yay for me nto letting it get any worse!! |
Newbie~ Day 2
Hi...I'm Dea and I'm new to the board. I attended my Ideal Protein Seminar and picked up my food two weeks ago but only started yesterday. I felt like I needed to mentally prepare to say goodbye to all my favorite foods and to wean myself off of the candy, cookies and desserts that I love and crave so much. I did okay the first day although I ate more like 10 ounces of lean protein because out of habit, I finished my daughter's leftovers. I had a slight headache but it went away after I had a little salt water. Today was a little rough as I made my son blueberry pancakes and wanted to take a small taste but I did not. I also could smell the wonderful aroma of pizza and had to resist the urge since the snack bar at the pool closed the grill and I could not get any grilled chicken:mad::mad::mad: I also realized that putting asaragus in a pan with olive oil is technically still frying. I also realized you can have the snack and it is manditory even though I just was not physically hungry from all the water I drank. Tomorrow will be amazing because I'm not giving up. No way...

I didn't know I was supposed to pair proteins with certain veggies, I'll search for that thread tomorrow. I know there are veggies I'm not supposed to have, or only have once a week. Hope we haven't sabotaged our weight loss too bad this week:( goodnight Tomorrow starts another chance.

Whirly - You need to eat
BF) IP Packet (you can have coffee, tea etc. with 1 ounce milk, splenda/stevia). Multivitamin, Potassium calcium, 2 x Calmag. Lunch) IP Packet + 2 cups approved vegetables. Dinner) 6-8 Ounces Approved Protein + 2 cups approved vegetables. Multivitamin, 2 x calmag. Then daily you also have to have: - 1/2 tsp sea salt - 1/2 tsp olive oil - 64 ounces water (minimum) - unlimited lettuce I have been told you can have lettuce whenever, you can split your veggies throuhgout the day if you need to. Other people have been told otherwise. |
Welcome Dea! I am not sure i agree about the sauteeing wtih 1 tsp olive oil = frying. Stir fry is ok, and I am eating a ton of them. Provided you do not exceed your olive oil, you are ok. YOu can water sautee and/or use pam as well!
I hear you on the kid temptations. That was my biggest learning curve week 1. I realized how much I lick my fingers, taste my kids foods, nibble while preparing, finish off uneaten leftovers etc. You WILL get used to it and you WILL feel better. The temptation lessens each day . . . especially as you see the scale move, you realize that nothing tastes as good as that feels. On that note, I was 146.2 this morning. Hoping, hoping, hoping to hit 145 tomorrow! I am current about 5 pounds from my prepregnancy weight! |
Today I started with ip cereal and brought a salad w olive oil dressing plus other veggies to snack on. Plus, I will have ip chocolate drink with lunch and soy puffs for a snack. Hopefully that will fend off headache and hunger. Thanks coliep

Welcome Dea! Good luck today :) I have to ask, is anyone else having the OPPOSITE of constipation issue???? Hope it is not a reaction to the combo of foods, I teach and go back in 2 weeks....82 minute blocks/classes to get through, a mad dash to the bathroom not in lesson plans, unless we take a class "fieldtrip". LOL....

Yesterday was my one and only day with the opposite issue . . . and my guess is it was because I had the bad cheat and my body couldn't handle the fat/sugar.
Are you lactose sensitive? Perhaps you need the enzymes? I haven't heard of anyone else having hte problem (but of course i was only looking for info on constipation because that is my issue) . . . |
Coliep - good job on working towards your goal. I know you had a "slip" but it's not the slips that define us but getting back on track. You will make it to your goal. :)
Welcome Dea! I'm only starting my day 3 - so I'm new right with you. Yesterday was a breeze - homemade taco salad for dinner - extra lean beef, bell pepper ans zucchini, on romain lettuce - used cumin, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder and a dash of splenda and hot sauce. It was very filling. Let's hope Day 3 is as good. When does ketosis start? I heard that you store carbs for 3 days so I'm imagining I'm losing carbs and water weight right now ... what should I be expecting? I'm nervous I won't lose very fast ... |
Coliep, I am not lactose sensitive that I know of. I have had primarily broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, cucumbers, clerey and spinach for my veggies so that shouldn't do it, but I def. have NOT been constipated, same thing happened today.....

Veggie prep is a PITA. I do 2x per week, usually Sun & Wed for the week. I chop up a ton and put them in continers, then I can use a measuring cup to scoop them out when needed. I prefer fresh, but you could just do frozen or the precut veggies that cost more . . .
Is 4 cups of veggies new to you? Perhaps if you weren't a big veggie eater in the past, this is a system shock? I really don't know, maybe ask your coach or google it to see what others have said. You could be sensitive to splenda, lactose, whey or something else. If it is making you uncomfortable I would definitely see what you can do . . . I have had a good day so far - egg and romaine breakfast, salad and choc shake for lunch (I hate that I had a shake instead of soup for lunch but when you are out and about sometimes its just easier). Not sure what I will do for dinner yet but feeling pretty strong and pretty motivated. Today I put on shorts and a tank that I haven't worn in 5 years . . . so I must be losing inches in the hip/thigh area. Yay baby fat be gone! Taco salad is sounding really, really good =) |
Cherbee82 -- I have similar stats to you and I suspect maybe you will have similar loss as I have had...End of my 3rd week and it has slowed down significanly, but i guess that's why we are told not to weigh every day ^_^ So we don't get discouraged when We don't lose as much as the first week --- which is mostly water weight.
And Ketosis as I am told starts 4 days after you start the diet. So every time you cheat, it starts all over and takes another 4 days to get back into -- a good motivator!! |

Yay everyone get on board with TACO SALAD! :) It has always been a filling low carb regular of mine. When not trying to shed pounds I add delicious beans.
Scofflaw1 - I noticed our similar stats - so I hope that stays true. I'm already weighing myself too much and my starting weight is slightly unclear - I was 152.8 that afternoon - so I could have been lighter in the morning. But that's the first time I got to weigh myself - all other times are in the morning. My coach seems to think if I stay OP I can lose 12-15 after 19 days of IP (i.e. before I leave for the wedding - I'm going to need advice come Thursday August 4th about how to best mantain while away for more than a week, with a wedding and without IP products.) Then, depeneding on how well these 19 days go, I think I'll come back and get started again. Once Ketosis starts is that the time where you start losing fat versus just water? |
Wayward - just remember anything brings you closer to your goals and you've been doing everything you can to accomplish that. We rely so much on numbers - but give yourself credit for taking control of something that's emotional and physical! GO YOU!!!

Hi, I'm a newby as well. Today is day 3 for me. I have ketone strips at home so I'll have to check tonight. I hadn't expected it to happen so fast for me today but as of a few hours ago my mouth has changed dramatically and my (sorry for TMI) urine has changed as well. It's been a long time since I was on a diet that caused you to go into Ketosis but I remember this taste in the mouth anywhere. :-) I'm hoping that after another day or 2 my body will get better used to this and I won't be as hungry. I used to eating more during the day and less at night but my coach is against changing the protocol at all. She has allowed me to have my evening snack in the afternoon on my workout days but other than that she is against me changing food times. :-(

Oh and I almost forgot to brag on myself. I know that it's only day 3 so my motivation is strong but today was a birthday of a coworker. I asked the other cake maker to make the cake because I didn't want the torture in my home but when they cut the cake today I just stood there and drank my green tea. I guess this is my first NSV on this program. Small victories make for success in the end I guess.

Just remember the strips are pretty much a waste from everything I have read.
They may show just a sliver on the strip, but a sliver is all it takes. |
