Have a back-up plan for the pink lemonade one - I think they're disgusting! Don't expect it to taste like pink lemonade! (Just saying, IMO....)

I too am 41 but have a little more weight to lose than you! ;0) I'm going for 100 lbs (42 down, 52 to go)... I divorced 5 years ago and gained 50 lbs while dating the love of my life... our dating seemed to revolve around meals at various restaurants, movies with popcorn, parties with food and alcohol. etc... we both gained - henced we are both doing IP together now! Also, I am on day 11 of no smoking... I did laser therapy for that one and I gotta tell ya - I feel wayyyyyyy better - I had quit previously (for 4 years actually) and the cheating on smoking is just alot like cheating on IP... you can't have 'just one'... no such thing! Anyway - glad you found this board, it has helped to keep me inspired more than you can imagine and I can't believe how excited I am to get up in the morning, come to work, get my work and water done so that I can get on this board to see what all my cyber buddies are up to! Welcome - and enjoy the new you!!! |
Did my first week weigh in today! I am pretty excited about losing 9.4lbs in one week!!
Congrats on the success you are all having!! It's great to have a newbie thread. Have a great weekend!! |

Congrats!!!! keep up the great work! |
I am so glad to find this forum as I seem to struggle with the same things as a lot of you...and have the same questions that are being answered here. My biggest struggle so far is the nauseous feeling I get in between the protein packs and meals. I think it's my body adjusting to being hungry (instead of my usual grazing throughout the day). I've seen a lot of more experienced posters that say the vegetables have to be eaten in mealtime sittings...not spread out over the day...to maximize the fat burning effect of ketosis. By grazing on the veggies your body doesn't get a chance to go into "hungry mode" and burn the fat we are all trying to lose.
I thought this was a very valuable point because I had been preparing vegetables and then snacking on them all day long to get the 4 cups in. Sitting down to a meal and trying to eat a protein pack, lettuce and 2 cups of veggies seems really difficult...but I get the full satisfaction I'm craving. It's almost like eating a meal I would have eaten before IP but without all of the carbs, fat and calories. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all stick around! |
CuteNCurls - I am new, but I don't believe you need to eat your lettuce at your meal times (and I was told I can eat whatever, whenever but I don't think my coach is all that knowledgeable!). Why don't you have a salad or lettuce stir fry in between your meals to help with the nausea. I don't do well when hungry -- I get trembly, grumpy, foggy etc. so I have been having a lettuce stir fry each time that happens. In my first week, I was having on in am and one in pm. I have since determined that I need my evening snack between lunch and dinner (my hungry time) and then I am content with tea after dinner. I was told that is ok. Find what works for you, don't walk around hungry and/or nauseas. You can tweak re perfecting ketosis as you go along but I suspect it will be pleasantly effective now matter how you shift things!

Heather when was the last time you were able to lose 10 pounds in one week?
So quit beating yourself up, did you slip on something? Did you eat what you were supposed to everyday this week? Don't sweat the little things, as long as each week you see the scale drop than it doesn't matter. Also remember if you insist on weighing yourself at home, only do it once a day and do it at the same time, morning will usually give you the best results. Otherwise just wait until you go for your weigh in, remember depression and stress are 2 of the biggest triggers for retaining weight and going back to eating. So don't let it bother you too much, we are all here :) Plus your my partner REMEMBER!!!!! You asked for me and you got it lol. Do it for me, do it for yourself, do it for your daughter... I am doing it for myself and my 4 month old son and my wife. You are still young, you don't want to be where I am, 14 years later and then trying to do it. I missed out on a lot of little things because I was so big when my 18 year old was in his teens, you are doing what you have to now so that you don't have to have the same regrets I do when your daughter is in her teens. Oh now Heather I know you were still online when I posted those, and now you aren't. Don't avoid me :) It's all good, stay positive, we will get through this together. |
10 pounds in one week is AMAZING. Heck, 10 pounds in 2 weeks is amazing if you ask me! Average out your weight loss and you are still KILLING IT!!!!! You clearly want it, you are here. But you may need to manage your expectations a bit. The average weight loss is 3-7 pounds. You are right smack dab in the middle of that. Perhaps if you set your expectations lower than you will not be disappointed. For example, I expected to lose 4 pounds my first week and 2 pounds each week thereafter with the caveat that sometimes I may lose a bit more or less but those would be my averages. I have lost 6 pounds in 8 days and that exceeds my miminal expectations so I am ECSTATIC!! Also, water retention, bowels, heat (swelling) etc. all play into the equation and it is not all within our control. It will even out over time!

Hey guys I haven't been able to get on a lot like I used to, but I had my weigh in this morning and I am now a 148.2 lb girl! yay <3
That's 3.2 lbs in a week...not as good as week 1, but I did have that wine, and the first week was a lot of H2O weight, too. I lost 2 inches in my waist in one week, and 1/2 inch in chest, 1/2 in hips. Very happy! Everyone, don't give up it's so worth it to see the weight come off at the end of the week! Good Luck! |

Im here ...im gritting my teeth...im trying so hard to push through these cravings and these desires right now to go binge on donuts...anything right now seems to be popping out at me ...i dont know what this is such a hard day..the past few days have been easier..and all of the sudden..today is hard...
So far...so good..have stayed OP 100% BUT today..day 3 is just killing me...why is day 3 so hard???? arghhhhhhhhh...im so tempted by every single little thing..even my daughters banana looks good to me.. Im hanging in there Wayward..im givin er my all..maybe if i go have a mock ceasar salad it will help a bit... Will be back late to update how its going.. How are you today?? |
Doing good, no problems here.
Yesterday someone brought in donuts, didn't really bother me. Someone upstairs is retiring and they are having a big party, and like 10 faculty told me to go get some sweets, but I just walked on by the room. You have to make the choice to just ignore the temptations, of course I also had to work on the woman's machine today that always has tons of treats and chocolate around her machine, but it wasn't to bad. Leaving in about 30 minutes to go to the doctor to be there when my son gets his shots, then straight over to physical therapy, then straight home so the wife can get in a hair cut, then when she gets home straight to the recycling center. Then finally, cook dinner and chill awhile. I look forward to your update later. Have a great afternoon and evening everyone. |
ahh yes.. i remember the second set of shots with my baby girl..she didnt even cry...my girl has to go in for her 1 year shots now..3 in the arm!!! ouch...i dont know how she is going to like that...probably going to cry im guessing..speaking of baby girl..her cheerios are all over the floor..gotta go
|
Well..im back..its 4:21pm and i think i just had my first ever vegetable binge..oh my goodness..
a I ate 4 cups of spinach(meausred before cooked) and then a 3 cup mock ceasar salad.. and then downed 1 litre of water in one sitting.. Needless to say im stuffed..and i think it might have just killed my desire for anything else..and hopefully by the time the desire gets back..i will be at work so i cant do anything about it anyway..and by the time i get home.. i can have a packet and hop into bed after... I think i might try for 4 litres of water today instead of 3...although i gotta say..my pee(tmi) is like...clear..there is no color to it anymore.. i guess im well hydrated! Anywho.. hope everyone is doing well..i know im doing better..i think the salad definitly helped.. |
Craaaaaaaaaaaaavings. I gave in -( I succumbed and had 1 tbsp of natural peanut butter. I couldn't help myself. I was so hungry, I wanted it so badly. I hope it doesn't totally derail me. Its about 4gm carbs and some additional sodium and calories. Not too worried about the cals since I actually got about 75 mintues of exercise today but .... hope I didn't mess it all up for that fleeting moment of tasty goodness.
|
And I now know how fortunate I was the DH was doing a version of a low carb diet all week to be supportive because tonight he is not and the smell and temptation might be the end of me :/
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can . . . |
you can do it coliep! bikini! bikini!
|
Couple of questions, any helpful ideas with the soy patty?
What are some of you guys favorite ip packs? |
Hey Coliep...think of it this way...penut butter is seen as a high protein food..not likely to put you out of ketosis cause it doesnt have sugar galore..
Today.. i survived..I mean.. I SURVIVED!!! I was able to stay OP 100% even though i was tempted like crazy..and its awesome!!! i survived!! WAYWARD!!! I DID IT!!! (DOES LITTLE DANCE) I DID IT!!! BOOOOOOYAHHHH! |
Thanks port! That is what I was kinda thinking when I had it. I did Atkins (lke 10 years ago, gasp!!) and 1 TBSP all natural peanut butter was my go to dessert so It hought this had to me somewhat IP friendly. But then the eater's remorse set in!
Great job staying 100% OP!! It DOES feel great, and when you see the large results on the scale it makes it even more worthwhile. This diet is fast acting so there is almost instant gratification! As for a sushi slip up . . . you had to go looking for that, no?? Sushi is not something we typically roll at home (at least not us!). Perhaps avoiding the restaurant scene until you are in a phase you can eat it? On the bright side, the fish is good for you (I am going to assume you just had nigiri), tomato is an occassional veggie. So rice and chocolate. You can recover!! I didn't want to decline an invite to go out with another couple tonight, so tonight will be my first outing on IP. THey know I am on the diet, but I think they might expect I will forego it since they don't know what the diet is about. Because I have spent 375 on IP food etc. alone so far, I don't plan on straying. It is a beer tasting at a sushi place. I hate beer, so safe there. (I love wine but will have to pass obviously). I love sushi but tonight I will learn to love sashimi. Wish me luck I don't muck it all up!!! DH leaves on Tues for work travel. He will be gone the majority of the next 3 weeks, coming home only on weekends. This should ensure I do well on the diet since I don't have to prepare anything but kids' food. Soooooo its even more cricitical I don't mess up today because I could possibly be DONE with IP at the end of those 3 weeks, or at least going into the next stage!! |
So this morning I weighed in @ 147. I have lost all 36 pounds on the baby weight from the most recent pregnancy. Yay!!! Now on to the 12 that remained from the first pregnancy (during which I gained 75 pounds!!!!).
I don't know if any of you have noticed, but I believe that I am definitely seeing some shifts in my body. I am not good at judging inches lost, but I totally see more muscle definition both in my quads and my biceps! I was standing in a run skirt yesterday and looking down and thought - WOW! My quads look kinda good! I mean, I don't have bulging muscles or visible strands or anything, but they are . . . more prominent or slightly more defined! I REALLY like that and hope it continues! I KNOW there are some pretty good muscles underneath there and one of the most attractive things to me about IP was its fat burning ability (not just losing weight but keeping muscle and burning the fat that is covering it all up). I likey and cannot wait to see what comes over the next few weeks!! It is, though, hard to not go out and try to lift weights or get more exercise in the process. Totally counterintuitive! |
Hi all started on july 4th, almost 2 week now and going at it strong. I hope i will survive this diet. But one thing is for sure all you guys give great advice and great support. Ill keep posting to let you all know ihow i do on this new journey.
|
Welcome Rooster!
Coliep..what is sashimi?? Ive had other sushi before.. in fact i used to make sushi at home often..but never had sashimi... Yay! i weighed myself today and im down 2 more pounds..which makes my loss a total of 12 pounds in almost 2 weeks. Im hoping i will lose a couple more pounds before monday..like maybe 2? is that too much to ask for?? Anywho...still feeling hungry..im not convinced im back into ketosis quite yet..and today.. i have a headache...so boo to that..but oh well..onward and upwards.. uh i need sleep! late night at work. |
sashimi is just the raw fish . . . no rice. Should be pretty IP friendly even with wasabi and a bit of soy! Not too sure how I will get my veggies in tonight or how well I will do resisting all the other (wine) temptations. I came across a thread that said I could have a vodka and club soda...not sure how correct that is but worst case scenario I will have that or red wine. Fingers crossed I stop with Perrier and lime though! I don't want to spend time getting BACK into ketosis!
|
I did it! Only sashimi, refused to eat the seaweed salad I ordered bcz it had dressing on it, and just drank perrier. Phew!! Now to fight my current wine craving . . .
Silent weekenders on here . . . you all must be stronger than I am bcz I keep needing to vent and browse on here for support! |
Haha no problem! We're good at listening. I deifinitely browse more than I post.
Everything's been good on this end. I had a couple no loss days, but for one, I cheated 3 times total. One was a bite of cheesy rice, one was a LOT of wine and some curly fries, and one was a bite of melted cheese dip -_- I LOVE cheese,so I have decided not to make anything with cheese for my boyfriend anymore, since it made me cheat twice. As for the wine, my bf is getting a divorce and we were...well..kind of celbrating. I have finally gotten to a point where I no longer am hungry and staying on protocol is 1000% more important to me than tasting that little bit of cheese. I don't even want to cheat. ever. So that way I don't have to spend another 84 dollars because I set myself back a week. I'm not made of money! Anyways, good luck to everyone. I hope that each and every one of you can find it inside yourself to stay strong and never want to cheat again. ;) |
Well hello...
I survived my 4th day...no cheats!! boo yah!! |
