Unhappy Slow Losers?

Hey all,
I was just wondering if there were any other slow losers out there. At my last weigh in I was told I lost 2.4 lbs, which I was rather happy about because I'm a college student and not a single day is the same, so consistency is tough. However, after I let out a cheer of triumph (I managed to avoid penne ala vodka and scraped the sauce off my chicken marsala at my niece's communion) my coach said "Well, that's better than gaining."
Staying strict has been and will continue to be tough in my college lifestyle, especially with finals and senior week (aka, get drunk everyday) coming up. I'm really trying to stick with it, but that comment was really discouraging.
Anyone else out there find that, for whatever reason, they're slow to lose weight on this program?

I wouldn't consider you to be a slow loser at all! 2.4 lbs in a week is awesome and it seems to be that people who start at lower weights don't lose as quickly as people with more to lose. I think you are doing awesome and you should stick up for yourself if the coach makes a comment like that again.

Mrs. D is absolutely right. I've averaged around 2.5 lbs per week. Although it is a bit lower than the 3-5 lbs that is on the website, it is still better than any other diet I know! Stick with it. You will do great. Also remember every week is different. I've ranged from .4 lbs to 4.8 lbs. Never a 6 or more like some, but it really does work!

I'm losing slowly, too. Sometimes I let it get me down-- like yesterday. It was Mother's Day and my son and his wife chose to visit HER mother, who lives on the other side of town and even though they passed within 3/4 mile from my home, they didn't stop by. He finally called me at 5pm to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. He'd been with his mother-in-law's family all day. When he finally did call, I told him that it was a nice surprise. His reply was, "Well, Mom, how could I forget with all the advertisements about 'send you mother flowers or candy and such for Mother's Day? I'd be a terrible son if I didn't call you." (so where are MY flowers??? huh?) I've been really bummed out since then. My daughter-in-law never even got on the phone. I guess she was too busy with HER mother. I'm not trying to be in competition with anyone, but my feelings are really hurt.

So... all that... and after about 19 days on the program, I've only lost 9 pounds. My doctor said I could lose 5, so what gives? While I'm not on the IP program, she did give me a version of it. I'm doing everything but using the IP products. I'm really trying to be good about this. I've not cheated once, but I'm so tired of the same ole things after almost 3 weeks and I've got so much more weight to lose! So... today I'm having my own little pitty party. I'm sorry to dump this on you, but sometimes life just isn't fair, I guess.

Thanks for reading...

Hi emily88,

Considering how many calories your body needs to function at 129 pounds I think you are doing great!!! Losing 3 pounds a week at your weight (over 10,000 calorie deficit) would be extremely difficult - a whole different story if you are twice that size. Be thrilled!!! 2.4 lbs at 129 is really really great!!! And hey, if you have to cheat during senior week, try to cheat low carb, at least you'll stay in ketosis Good luck with finals!!!

Don't give up. I started this on 4/25 using EAS Shakes and alternatives and today I am down a total of 8.8 pounds. I wish it was more, but they say those with a ton to lose will lose it faster. And believe me, this is faster than it was on WW. Hang in there! (nothing special at my house for mother's day either and I have 4 kids!)

I think almost 2.5 pounds a week is great! My last 2 WI's, I only lost 0.5 pounds each time. I'm hoping for something a little more stellar this week.

That would have me down too - I've been on this for 16 weeks and my weight has slowed to avg 1.3lb per week. But I struggle with thyroid issues and my Dr just lowered my meds - and I've had an incrediably stressful month at work.

You can't compare your loss to others. You just have to do the best you can and be happy that you've given it your best.

Don't get discouraged. A lot of us are in the same boat. I've only lost 2 lbs for the last 3 weeks but after 7 week OP it totals up to 22lbs. I remember on WW the average lost was 1lb a week so this is great! Keep it up, you're going really good. Especially during such a stressful time.

I am in the same boat, but don't be discouraged. My coach told me not to have any restricted items for at least 2 weeks and see if that makes a difference. Also, drink plenty of water and you will get there faster than you think.

I'm a slow loser as well. I'm coming up on 7 weeks on the diet and a 14 lb loss - an average of 2 lb a week. While a loss is still a loss, it's becoming a very expensive program to be losing 2 lb/week. I'm thinking I will stick with phase 1 for 2 more weeks, then phase off. I can't spend 4 more weeks on it to lose a measly 9 pounds, and THEN spend 2 more weeks paying for and going through phases 2 and 3.

Hey emily88! I just got back from my second weigh in and lost 2.3 lbs. I too feel a little disappointed in myself. But then again I think what could I have done any differently? I had no cheats this past week and I added in light exercise, basically walking and a couple light core classes. After that first week of losing 7 pounds I just thought it would be nice for my remaining 15 pounds to just be gone in 3 weeks...I am slowly starting to see that it isn't that easy and I'm just going to stick with it. So...you are definately not the only one to have slower weight loss. There is only so much you can do and if you stay on protocol how your body reacts with that is out of our control unfortunately. I think we should be happy with our losses and keep on trucking along! Good luck with you schooling and this journey!

Another sloooow loser here too--but I've come to accept it (most weeks ) and down IS down, correct? For example: Down only 1 lb. over the past two weeks (vacation during that time too) but also down 1/2 in. on my hips and that is a BIG win for me! So it's all good.

Hang in there. What's that great quote? Something about "a year from now...."

Well, I consider myself a slow loser but I too have thyroid issues for which I take medication.

I am super happy with IP though because prior to this, I was counting calories, exercising and seeing a Dietician and I stayed stuck in the mid-170's for over a year.

It is important to note that I also have not been as disciplined as I should have been in weeks #4 and #8.

I would like to lose another 10 lbs before phasing off and I was told by coach before I started, to estimate 12 weeks total (including all phases) to reach that goal... which is most probably not going to happen in that time frame. My bubble burst but I have decided to stick with it for a while longer to see what will happen.

If my weight loss stalls for too long, I will just phase off and redo it again at a later date (maybe in the fall) to lose the remaining weight.

Thanks guys! This weigh in was still in the 2lb range, but I'm feeling a lot more positive! I paid more attention to water, thanks to a few hours in the sun, and I think it paid off!
