Default Day 1

I'm so hungry I could eat my arm. Please tell me that gets better? And do you get used to the splenda like after taste of the foods? Or have a way to cover it up?

From my experience it does get easier.. everyone has there days so try to be as careful as you can on those harder days. but remind yourself what you are working for and things will work out. The less you eat over time your body becomes ok with that, and the taste of things grow on you. Sometimes not ideal, but in the long run, its better good luck!!

yesterday was my first day too. after i ate my little 5oz of chicken with veggies i was still starving. i went to sleep at 8:30pm just so i wouldn't have to deal with the hunger.

how are you this morning? i am quite weak, but surprised that i'm not hungry. I hope my walden farms order comes in today so i can have my unlimited lettuce. that should help with the hunger.

good luck!

I am almost 4 weeks into this program and the first three days are the HARDEST. They are even harder if you are a carb addict like me - your body is going through some serious detox - so it is going to be a bit rough. I wanted to through in the towel at least once an hour (ha, ha, ha) -- it will be better on the other side I promise -- the good news about this is that because it was so difficult for me to get into ketosis there is NO WAY I am going to go through it again which makes it easier for me to stick to the plan. I too HATE the taste of artificial sweeteners (which was my biggest issue with the diet) --I am a food purist so that was a big nasty flavored pill to swallow - but I figured I would just suck it up and go back to being a purist 60 pounds lighter. The things that helped me with the artifical/splenda taste -- make your drinks with cold water and ice - like a slushy/milkshake - also some of the packets have more of an after taste then others (I like the savory ones as a whole - for sweet ones I like the vanilla and chocolate ready to drink -rtds, chocolate drink packet, vanilla pudding, cappucino, and the blueberry pomegranate drink) You may even want to heat up some of the drinks and add strong coffee/espresso or tea to them. As for salad dressing I am not a huge fan of WF because of the aftertaste - I typically make a bistro style vinaigrette -- dijon mustard, splash of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, shallots, salt, pepper. My one suggestion is to make your daily cooked meal something special, tasty and satisfying - that will help make the other meals less of an issue --in the beginning I would think "well at least I get a good dinner" which somehow made it easier to handle. It is true your tastes change - currently I really like some of the sweet packets I was just "tolerating" before. Make sure you get in all your water, supplements, salt and oil --this is critical for the diet but absolutely crucial in the beginning -- they help.

Good luck - it gets better - I promise!!!! -- keep reading these posts, ALL of them -- they were my lifeline in the beginning - when I felt like eating I would scour these posts - read victory stories, look at pictures, get inspired-- I would get so sucked in I would forget about eating. Also feel free to post in the daily threads - that tends to be the place where people get the most answers -- ask questions, research, read -- you will get this figured out in short order and will be amazed at what your body can do.

Thank you! My coach told me over time my tastes will change and that the foods she could nearly tolerate are now some of her favorites.

I am doing good this morning. I did like the omlet. I am hungry but not insanely so, like yesterday. I am a food purist too and that makes this a challenge but i think i can do it.

Surprisingly i have some energy this morning. Last night i too went to bed early to avoid those hunger pains but it back fired because i woke up all night. I also had to pee like a race horse all night so i figure i am losing the water weight quickly.

I am also a major carb addict and i have to agree, my thoughts were exactly that i feel like a drug addict going through withdrawals/detox. I'm 1/3 through the 3 days, I am keeping that in the front of my mind.... Only 48 hours left.

I am almost 17 weeks in............it gets soooo much better.
I suggest, seems to work for me so worth a try, to eat your salads (romaine lettuce only not other veggies so it is a freebie) between meals. It REALLY REALLY helped me.

I agree with this. I find that if my meal isn't delicious and satisfying I feel like I was gypped and I deserve something else - usually peanut butter So my cravings go through the roof!

Good luck and it does get better.

I am almost 4 weeks in and trust me it is already the easiest diet I have ever attempted. My first 3 or 4 days were horrible but I am a serious dr pepper addict, so the headaches were extreme. On day 3 I thought to myself, what in the heck did I get myself into but I forced myself to go to sleep and woke up feeling like a new woman. I now have more energy then I have had in years and loving every minute of it. I have a 4 yr old daughter and a 8 month son that appears to want to walk before crawl. Lets just say I needed the energy....lol. hang in there and read everyone's post daily. it is truly an inspiration to stay on track. also go to the recipes section, it is wonderful and full of new ideas!!!!

Try zucchini and squash with mushrooms! It's become one of my weekly staples. I usually chop them up bite size, add a splash of olive oil, worchester, lemon juice - saute them about 5 minutes. I've also become a huge fan of aspargus. Grilled, roasted, or par-boiled. Easy to fix, just add your favorite seasoning! Broccoili and cauliflower roasted too! I'm also from Cajun country!

Oooh, the soups were so nasty to me!

Add as much seasoning as you can stomach - the more the better! We use Benoit's, which is kind of like Tony's but salt free. Extra spicy usually does the trick.

Do you like okra? I buy the frozen cut okra and smother it with onions and mushrooms for my husband - sometimes add a can of Rotel. You can add your protein to this dish as well - he really likes it with shrimp.

I am not a fan of veggies, so I add baby spinach to my salads so it cuts down on the amount of other veggies I need to eat. ***gag***
