  • Definitely! But its those same people who see me now and go wow you look great I didnt think you had 20 pounds to lose! And on the one hand its like I'm glad no one saw me and thought gee she could drop some weight, but on the other hand it gets exhausting to basically defend myself for eating healthy. If someone eats fast food every day, no one says a thing, but start eating vegetables and protein and you're suddenly some sort of diet alien.
  • Quote: What part of NoVA are you in? I'm in Loudoun County. My clinic is out of Tysons Corner but they just opened an office in Ashburn.

My coach called and emailed a couple of times during week 1. She is always quick to reply to any emails I send. She normally doesn't have clients booked after my appointment so she always takes plenty of time to talk and see how I am doing. I never feel rushed (unless I have a meeting to get to back at the office, lol)
Nobylspoon, there is a clinic in Reston now, not sure if you are aware. It might be a little closer for you. That is where I go.
  • My coach gave me her phone number so that I could call any time and called me every day for the first 4 days. She is an RN, which I appreciate.
  • My husband and I joined together - never got any contact by phone or e-mail. They made appts. for every TWO weeks, said that was their policy. We could, of course, go in any time to get products. They were really not involved beyond a "good job" once in awhile. Seemed like they didn't care one way or another whether you lost weight, and never took time to talk or give any kind of advice. We got close to our goals and have been maintaining with alternatives. It's nice to see that so many coaches are caring and concerned about their clients!

    Sooo TRUE!!!!!!!!!
  • My coach is my actual MD who used the diet herself to rid of the baby weight. It worked for her so she offers it through her office.
She called me on day 2 and on day 4 or 5 (don't remember which), then saw her on day 7. Then encouraged me to call anytime with questions. She is awesome!
  • Quote: My coach never contacted me, except to confirm appointments. Oh, and she emailed me once when I asked for a copy of the weekly meal planner she handed out with the first week.

It's part of the reason I decided to go rogue on alternatives - I was not getting much from her outside of her scale and measuring tape.
That's all I'm getting out of my "Coach" also. She's one heck of a weigher and measurer though. LOL
  • Quote: My coach never contacted me, and would answer emails sporadically and with very brief answers. No contac at all in the first week. In fact, my first visit was not with my "coach", but with one of her employees, who was clearly not as knowledgeable. I sent an email complaining and telling the clinic coach and owner that I went with her clinic based on the recommendation for her, and while nothing was said, I did see her for the next 3 or weigh ins, then relegated back to the other lady. In her defense, I needed an early monday AM weigh in because of work and travel schedules, so that could be why. Just recently, she started sending the daily "your coach" videos, and I do enjoy those, but it is a canned program.

At the end of the day, I went there for food, weigh-in, and measurements (I had to ask for more than chest and waist).

They knew the program basics, but I read Dr. Trahn's book and read everything I could on the 3FC IP forum and I quickly became more knowledgeable than they were (thanks to all my peeps here!!!).
I go to maintenance in a week and a half, and I'll switch to alternatives and won't go back. I also don't recommend her as a coach if somone needs any kind of help and motivation. I was very focused and motivated, like many of you, so it worked out for me.

However we get success, it's still success, and OUR choice!!!!
    Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
    Ken
Hey Ken, Im in BR as well which clinic do you use? I use WOman's
  • My coach or the registered dietician return my emails within the day which is good. My appointments are short. I guess she would spend more time with me if I wanted her to but I'm not that interested. I agree with you GlacierGirl Ive learned more from this site and I have ordered the book to read. I usually am one to do a lot of research though.
  • Daily the first 3-4 days explaining what symptoms I may be feeling and when I should be in ketosis. Now it seems to be weekly.

You can't sling a cat around NoVa without hitting an IP clinic or a chiropractor running IP on the side. There is a IP clinic in Lansdowne. I went to their branch in Chantilly. Most of the folks I know on IP are doing through their chiropractor.
  • I have a doctor and a nurse i see, the doctor I see rarely after the first appointment I mostly deal with the nurse who I consider my coach. I only see her at weigh ins and can call her or the doctor at anytime.

I had a different nurse measure me today (there are 2) and she did a horrible job so I will be making sure i get the one I like from now on

Im walking distance from mine. They opened an office in my gym which is how I found out about the program.
  • My coach pretends like she has never heard of people using " alternatives" and says she's never even heard of EAS! Blarney! Also, she has never measured a thing on me and she's the one who wanted me to go on the cortisol supplement for my "stress". I'm going rogue and leaning on you guys for true support
  • Today was my last appointment with my coach. She only weighs and measures me, never looks at my food journal. It was the money that tipped me over. Only time will tell if I made the right decision.

For those of you not using coaches, do you still feel as successful as you did with a coach?
