Default Week 4 what gives?

I only have 2 days left in my week 4 and I'm up 1 pound. What gives? I'm doing the same thing I've done in the previous 3 weeks (in which I lost 15 lbs). The only difference this week was that I included shirataki noodles into my food rotation (2 nights and my coach said I could have it as often as I wanted) but even before then I was pretty stagnant. I eat 1 restricted item per day, as I've been doing and even tried to omit the restricted items for two days and still nothing. I'm drinking all of my water (and then some), taking my supplements, everything. GRRRRRRR! This program is too expensive not to have progress on a weekly basis. I'm not quiting I just would like to have at least 1 lb down before the week is over. Just had to vent. Thanks for any advice

This is actually quite normal, you will hit plateaus. Just keep following protocol and you will probably have a larger than normal loss next week.

My doctor (non-IP) and I have discussed weight loss and nutrition multiple times. One thing he told me was that when you are doing a weight loss program that works as quickly as this, your body will tell you "whoa, what's going on here?" and will go into conservation mode until it can adjust. It's kind of like taking a deep breath to collect yourself. After the brief pause your body is ready to continue losing weight. Hang tough!

Thanks! I've seen on the trackers of others where they have stalls in weightloss but a tracker doesn't tell you if it's a plateau or a cheat in the week that was the cause. This is promising. Also, I've seen questions about limiting the number of times you have mushrooms per week. I pretty much have mushrooms and bean sprouts every day. Thoughts?

TOM can also play a roll in the plateau if you are near or just past it. Hang in there. Just keep following protocol and the results will catch up.

I've seen a lot of people stall out at week 4 or 5. Just keep going you will catch up in the next few weeks. I've lost 33 lbs in 7 weeks and that includes a week with a 2 lb gain thanks to TOM. Your doing great so just keep going!!

In terms of nutrition they sure wouldn't be my choice. I think you should mix it up.

I definitely understand what you're saying about the expense of the program. It's frustrating to see what you're investing and you're not seeing the returns you're expecting.

First bit of advice ... don't get trapped in the tyranny of the scale!! Although it's disconcerting, a few days with no change in weight is not cause for concern. I've had days where my weight has been inexplicably up, and then 2-3 days later there's a sudden drop. Your weight loss isn't and wont be linear. Your body is probably doing some work that your eyes and brain can't detect. Keep sticking with it -- I'm sure that the program and your body have great surprises ahead for you!

For the last week, the needle on the scale hasn't budged for me, BUT my pants are fitting a bit looser. You never know.

I'd encourage you to try some different vegetables. A couple of reasons:
- eating a variety of vegetables is a great lifetime habit to build
- getting some variety on this program can make a big difference between continuing and quitting because it's too boring

and one speculation: I wonder if variety is one of the cues to our bodies that we're in the land of plenty and that there's no need to turn down the fat-burning furnace!

Last week I lost 2 pounds early in the week and then stalled out. Weight never changed the rest of the week....then I lost 1.5 pounds the beginning of this new weight week and now it is stalled again (between weeks 5-6). I too feel discouraged.....I am so fearful I will be the loser who this diet doesn't work for. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is not true and I go forward fast.

Darbs, don't let it get to you - you have done SO well! Remember all the other posts that talk about stalls or slow downs because your body is just catching up. I was told in the beginning by my coach that 3-4 lbs a week could be expected on average. Dr Trans book says only 2 lbs per week. Your average is closer to 5 lbs per week! Just give your body a chance to catch up.

[QUOTE=kaarin;3536510]Darbs, don't let it get to you -

Thanks....I am trying to stay positive...it is hard...you just get to this weight and want it off so bad. I can't stand another day over 200. I want to get under 200 today (well not today but hopefully within a month). Have a good day Kaarin
