I think it's an excellent idea. Though I must I admit that I'm probably biased. Last weekend or the week before, I started drafting a series of messages on most of these topics, with the links to the technical thread and/or instructions. If you want 'em, lemme know!

Go to the main IP forum. Look up in the top right. See the #s? Click on the button "Last" and you'll see chat threads from late 2009. Enjoy!

The recipe makes 3 medium pancakes and has 150 calories, 5.5 g. carb, and 20.5 g. protein. The whole box makes about 14 servings. I used to count this as a restricted item, but now I don't since it only has 3 1/2 net carbs (6 total).

Mix well:
1/6 c. pancake mix
1/6 c. whey powder
Stevia or Splenda to taste

Add to above:
1 t. oil (counts in oil for the day)
2 T. water

At the end, add:
1 egg white, whipped with fork until frothy (You may want to add the entire egg).

Heat pan on medium to medium high heat and spray with a little PAM. Cook like regular pancakes, turning when bubbles form on top. Serve with Walden Farms pancake syrup.

Hi Bev,
I know you posted this under the alternative sticky, but I have a question and don't want to fill up the sticky. I'm on phase one do you think this could be used as an unresticted there? Is that what you meant (under phase1 protocol) by "I used to count this as a restricted item, but now I don't since it only has 3 1/2 net carbs (6 total)."? Thanks, Rosie.

Love you, darlin', but you need to snap out of it and get with the program. Just like I needed to get off my butt (great as it may look) and get to the gym.

Start fresh tomorrow. :) You can renew your relationship with pizza in Phase 4... if you still want to. (So far, I really haven't... so maybe it's just as well if you break it off now.)

IP didn't promise me a rose garden...

I've been on IP for almost 5 months. I've lost 46 lbs. :tantrum: I still have a long way to go. I usually try to be inspirational, but tonight I'm just not feeling it :tired:. I had to choke down my salad today for lunch. At dinner I wanted protein, and more protein, but no more veggies and no more salads. :dunno:

Sorry everybody. Phase 1 for this long is starting to take its toll. Anyone else been on Phase 1 for this long? Maybe you can tell me how you're doing?

Kelsey, you are an inspiration to me. I first noticed you, being the same height and starting weight as me. I have looked at your success and look up to you, and in a way, am trying to follow you. You have done a great job and will continue to do a great job. You have had a stressful week with picking an outfit and thinking about the interview, among all the other things you are thinking about. This will pass, tomorrow will be a new day, and you will be on track again. Rosie

What a great idea! I haven't thought about using the shaker bottle as an excercise tool. I do sort of go crazy when I'm preparing the packets.

You can find it on Amazon.com, and if you Google "shake weight" they have an official site, shakeweight.com, they ship to Canada. (I didn't create the hyperlinks because I don't want to get in trouble for posting links that may not be approved.)

I'm sorry you're not feeling 'it' today Kelsey....you have been so positive to me as I go through the 20 pound challenge and I'm grateful to you for that.

When I've seen your pictures lately - I've been really inspired by you and I think you should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I can't give you the advice you are looking for as I am just in the middle of it here too (and have more to lose than you) but I want to encourage you to stay in the now. Slap on that hot outfit you had the other day and really have a look at yourself again ! WOW !! That is all I can suggest. Along with sending you a BIG  !!

As for the veggies....I took a break from eating sooooo much lettuce lately and that really helped me. I'm back to eating it again at both meals (usually) but that made a difference for me. I just stuck with the veggies and protein. All I can say is HANG IN THERE !!

 Em Jay

Gosh, guys, why don't you drop this information in "Tips for Newbies"? And the rest of us will profit, too.

LynnDear 08-08-2010 07:59 PM

Carla, thank you so much for all your research and motivation to make me read labels and learn more. The choice of throwing out the egg yokes for me had to do with high cholesteral, but that was a personal choice. I also use Walden Farm MAYONNAISE, but the mustard helped with the yellow color and gave it a kick. And my triglycerides were very high. Amazing to me is that on this higher protein diet, my lab work has improved in only 4 weeks by being low carb.

And the cellulite issues. WOW. We are in a heat wave, and I have hidden my legs for 6 years. I don't wear skirts, or shorts. But I am so encouraged by the ladies on this board, and the motivation and honesty of real help and support.

Kelsey, I loved that you kind of took us with you on your job interview. The shoes were perfect. You have carried me through more days than you can imagine. Hope the dark cloud goes away soon.

I don't know what I can add to what others have said but I can emphasize how much of an inspiration you've been. That's probably the last thing you need to hear when your feeling dragged down. Just makes you responsible for one more thing? But you are really appreciated.

Interviews are one of the most stressful job-related experiences anyone can go through. That you handled it with aplomb doesn't exempt you from the gross let down afterward. And the (last?) chick off to college in a week or so? And all the pressure that builds up until you find out who got the job, especially if you're an in-house candidate? Lady, you deserve a break. Or a shoulder or twenty. I kind of appreciate your feeling close enough to let us know how you feel. God, I hope things look better tomorrow.

gmfuzzy 08-08-2010 08:12 PM

clueless

As you can tell I obviously don't know how to quote.

Anyway, I meet with my coach tomorrow so maybe your posts will make more sense then.

I do have a question though. I have been working with a trainer and do not want to stop that. At the seminar I went to regarding this program, we were told not to do anything the first two weeks. I'm not sure why.

What is your take on exercise? I work with trainer 3 days a week, do cardio and attend zumba classes. I have been going about 6 months but have plateaued with the weight loss the past 3 months. Eating better than ever have but not dropping the weight. A practitioner at a clinic I go to recommended this program.

Rosie- I know you posted this for Bev and hopefully she'll weigh in, but I have been using her pancake recipe as an unrestricted item for the past couple of weeks and I'm in phase 1. They're very good and I haven't slowed in loss at all (I had mostly been using only the IP puddings before).

It is definitely Phase 1 friendly. I started out considering it as a restricted item since the IP pancakes are restricted, but they are higher in carbs than my recipe.

A lot of you girls are young and may not have experienced the horrors of it yet. I'm in my 50s and my legs are really looking gross. Kelsey....I'm so sorry you are feeling down. I have also been on over 5 months. When I am feeling a little down, I go take a walk, remind hubby how long it has been since we had a little fun!!(I know, TMI), get on this site so I have to type(and not eat) or go play the Wii. I also like Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade. That changes things up for me a little and it tastes so good. One of my friends on IP uses it with a little vodka when she goes out. Probably not allowed, but it works for her.
I am waiting for one of my friends to give me the rhubarb slush recipe she made the other night. It had rhubarb, splenda, vodka(I don't know what else) and you put it in the freezer and make a slush. Serve it with tonic water or sprite. She brought it for all the IP people. It was good. That was the first drink I've had since being on IP. I will post the recipe when I get it. I know it probably doesn't fall within the guidelines, but I bet some of you will love it. Could be good for after IP, too.
Kelsey, I'm thinking about you and sending good vibes your way!!!

Thank you, friends. I'm fine. You all are so sweet and so supportive. I think sometimes Sundays are hard for me when DH is on nights (he's on now, and this was only the 2nd Sunday - he'll be on for 2 months), and yes, all the interview stuff, and the boy turns 18 this Thursday, and is heading out. SO - thanks for all the love and good ideas. I'm sorry I was the pooper today! I have leaned on you all so much!!! You really great peeps to have in my corner. I've just had my hot chocolate and now I'm going to bed. Tomorrow will be an IDEAL day! :) Heck, I've lost weight the past 2 mornings, so I'm off to a great start for the week. :grouphug:

Taking its toll on me too! I am 6 months today on IP and have lost 45.9 and 33 inches, so I'm a month behind you. I'm ok with the food, not too sick of it or salads yet, but veggies are a pain in the butt.

I have had a horrible stomach/intestinal ache since yesterday morning. I think the salad I had out friday night (field greens) was contaminated. I've never gotten sick on this diet before.

I'm going on vacation in about 5 weeks and my coach says I only need to go on phase 2 for a few days and then phase 3 for a week or two. Maybe that will shake things up for me and help me when I return to Phase 1 when I get back to lose my last 27 lbs. I hope!!!!

There was discussion at one time about what you wished your coach had told you at the beginning; discussion about using birth control and the ineffectiveness; and about exercising, when you should/shouldn't, heart rate, etc. I think that would be useful to have on the tips.

hey Kelsey,
we all feel this way from time to time, but 5 months is a long time and you've been so persistent, it's amazing. When I get to the point I cannot look another salad in the eye, I go back and browse the recipe thread and find some veggie I have not made in awhile, or try something new. It usually gets me over the hump.

Gosh, guys, why don't you drop this information in "Tips for Newbies"? And the rest of us will profit, too.

I'd vote for a separate thread for the "technical" and "how to" information so it does not get tangled into all the IP protocol information--more of a "how to use the board" rather than a "how to do IP".

Just my 2 cents, and how my brain works. And I like the idea of it being a "closed" sticky...if it's possible for someone to re-open it and add more later...does it work that way? (sorry I'm not technical enough to figure out how to start this sticky!):?:

Anyway, I meet with my coach tomorrow so maybe your posts will make more sense then.

I do have a question though. I have been working with a trainer and do not want to stop that. At the seminar I went to regarding this program, we were told not to do anything the first two weeks. I'm not sure why.

What is your take on exercise? I work with trainer 3 days a week, do cardio and attend zumba classes. I have been going about 6 months but have plateaued with the weight loss the past 3 months. Eating better than ever have but not dropping the weight. A practitioner at a clinic I go to recommended this program.

This should help.

Noticing we have a bit of broken up discussion going on around a new thread that Rocky Monarch suggested.

Here is a thread I started so that conversation can flow as it needs to and NOT take away from the 500 general chat posts we are allowed this week for this thread!

Thanks everyone!

I think RM makes an important distinction. That's pretty much what I meant when I said "in part." A bit nebulous of me.

It's kind of funny, to me at least, that I posted my random tips for newbies before I saw any of the present discussion. I'd been meaning to do something like this for a while to give the site a nudge and hopefully to get others to add information about the IP program. I just found the time this afternoon (Pacific time).

I think you and I may have started at the same time. You have done amazing and an inspiration to us all. You have lost 46 pounds in 5 months !!! My weight loss has been slow and I was told that at the beginning because I do train 2-3 times a week and continue to do so. The past few weeks have also been rough for me. As I mentioned in another post I am probably going to start phasing out as the cost is becoming too much.

KELSEY: I am starting my 5th month and have been struggling this past week (grandkids here, camping & the 3 wks in Germany) kind of kicked me off the straight and narrow, but after coming back and reading all the posts (especially yours) I know I will get back on protocol starting this morning. You are such a great influence to me as is everyone here, I really don't think I would have done as well as I have if it wasn't for this forum.
One of my DD's friends started IP last week and one of the best tips I could think of giving her was to come to this forum for information, support and encouragement!!!
I hope you are feeling better today!!

A new day, a new week....everything is going to be IP wonderful!!!!
