Maybe it's a B12 deficiency?

Which of course does zero good and I put on the pounds. Here is a link with some symptoms that most people are unaware of.. I had them all as I was severely deficient. The most upsetting was the hair loss and unable to think rationally or clearly.: http://www.***************/all/vitaminbdefi_rndj.htm |

Elizabeth – Great article about early puberty. It really is a concern I try to keep aware of. I liked the liked article to the journal findings. It was a good point made by the endocrinologist not to overlook a medical health concern because the norm is adjusting to a lower age of puberty.
Chelle and Tricia – I hope you both have wonderful trips! Can’t wait ot here all about them. Melissa – If you are reading, I am thinking of you! I hope the recovery from surgery is off to a good start! Cheesecake4me – Watch the dizziness. It can be either the blood pressure shifting or the blood sugar dropping. With the added hunger, I am inclined to think low blood sugar. You should probably add in another unrestricted packet or ½ a restricted bar for the next few days and see if it helps. Talk to your coach and/or Dr. You want to make sure you are on the right track. Stace – the MSNBC videos were interesting! They went well with the article Elizabeth posted and I liked how there were multiple interviews to discuss different doctors opinions. Suzie – That must be so hard being a girl in your house! Lucky Boys, never having to worry about diet! Just a side note, I was a girl who, 32 years ago went through early puberty (age 9). I remember when I was 8 needing to have deodorant! :dizzy: It runs in my family so, not a huge concern but, back then, I was 3 years ahead of many girls. I felt so “odd” and alone. It was really uncomfortable and I had no way to deal with it. I liked how the video Stace posted talked about preparing the girls who MIGHT go into early puberty. It really is overwhelming when you aren’t ready for it! I actually went back into a biting phase. Most kids were in a “show me yours, I’ll show you mine” place at age 10 and I had TOO much to show. I remember getting attacked by boys on the playground (older boys maybe 12) , being followed home and cornered in a garage and, getting attention of young men (late teens/early 20’s) I just didn’t know how to deal. I got cornered a few times and bit hands trying to grope me. It was not something a 10 year old knows how to deal with. My mom had started early with me, age 7, when she saw signs I might follow my grandmother in having early puberty. She talked about the way a girl grows up, how her body changes, and how babies are made and why you have to be careful. It was all great science and very caring. I still wasn’t prepared for my emotions. I wasn’t prepared for the way others would see me and how that attention would make me feel. THAT ws what scared me the most. I just wanted to be like other people. It was very obvious I wasn’t. Male friends of my father would be overly complimentary (especially as I got to age 12 and was a 32dd) Lots of “you better watch her, she’s a pretty little thing.” How are you gonna keep the boys away? Some women were so rude as to tell my mom, in front of me, “ be careful, I bet she ends up pregnant before she is out of highschool.” THAT was so rude and hurtful. I was made fun of by other girls at school who I no longer looked the same as. I changed in a bathroom instead of the main locker for pe to avoid the comments. I truly started hating my body because the attention I got was rude and more than I was emotionally prepared to handle. I saw my body as fat instead of “girly” or “womanly” I became the obsession of my family to “get her thin”. I was seeing a doctor on a medical diet at age 12 for being 7 pounds heavier than my mom thought I should be. I was still growing up! I just needed to eat right, watch my food quality and portions and keep exercising. I am sure it would have come off. I guess out of all this example I am trying to say. If you want to prepare her, don’t just explain the difference between a boy and a girl and , a girl and a women. As she develops help her understand why a girl begins to gain weight and how, over about 5 years that normalize to a healthy adult body IF you eat a haealthy diet, not high in processed foods or carbs, and exercise. Help her realize and remember that the other girls will get to go through this someday.. maybe not as soon but, someday. Help her do things that build her confidence and self-esteem about her body if you see she feels “different or fat”. It really is a progressive conversation. It starts with the “ body is changing” science stuff and as she passes puberty addresses how she feels and deals with it. You will start to know when it is time to address the emotional side. She will become more emotional as her hormone levels rise and change. She will become more moody and, possibly, even depressed from time to time. Start with the simple explanations and let her know she can ask you anything about what she is experiencing or going through and you will do your best to answer or help. THAT is the best thing you can do. Keep an open door for her to share how she feels or what she is experiencing and you will know what to say. My mom did the best she could. LOL she even had junior size minipads already in the bathroom for “the day” and we had talked about what to expect for that too! I just didn’t know I would need to talk to her about my private feelings and she didn’t know I might feel so “strange” compared to others or how I would be treated. I am sure you will do great! On a more positive note, my two sisters both had the rounded bodies and great legs/arms. One even developed body odor and early breast buds. BOTH went through puberty as teenagers (14 and 16). Maybe you’ll get lucky and things will progress slowly. Vic: I see a holistic doctor too. He recommends using things to naturally boost serotonin. The lack of carbs makes it very challenging for people who are prone to low serotonin levels (I am.) I take melatonin at night before bed and I take 5htp before bed. Both are to help me keep my serotonin levels high naturally. I was prone to that “blah, depressed feeling” in the past and worried it would happen on this plan. IT HASN”T! I think it has to do with the supplements. You might ask him about them if you aren’t using them. Ellie: CONGRATAS!! That is great! Sorry it took so long to dress. I know you can’t wait to start shopping. Elizabeth: I started about 8 years ago shifting from conventional to natural and then 4 years ago to organic. I buy almost 100% organic, can’t count IP. I have really noticed a change in how I feel. I was trying to get rid of cola and IP has helped with that. I wouldn’t buy it for the house but I did drink it out (movies mostly). I am really pleased with the changes I have seen because of eating a healthier food with fewer pesticides and hormone or chemicals. Stace – Sorry! I found that image awhile ago and wanted to rework it. Taylor is the first person I got to use it with. There was a diet forum I was part of about 4 years ago, 6 week body makeover, and their forum is AMAZING! Anyway, it is diet specific and that makes it more involved. I do mean involved. Thousands of women and posts a day. We had our own university to teach the diet and keep you going. Even had a boot camp group. It was fun and the diet is good for a semi balanced calorie restricted thing. It never gave me the results this has though! Anyway, the forum, because of how it was, everyone posted all sorts of pictures and things like I just did. I have a few fun things left from those days. Toothgirl: Are you checking your blood pressure or blood sugar at those times? I am inclined to think blood pressure. It is common to have dizziness with low blood pressure when changing position or moving slowly. The low bp can be caused by low blood volume, dehydration, or anemia. We will have a lower blood volume in response to the weight lost so, a low bp is quite common on this diet. ALSO, your bp will drop going from standing to sitting as less effort is required to move the blood. So, if you are already a little low and lay down it could be quite low. AND, it would be worse or more pronounced possibly on days you are under-hydrated or if you have anemia. Did you discuss these possibilities with your dr? If not maybe you could track your readings for a short while and, if you see something odd, talk to him again. Natchamp- I am so sorry to hear of your family issues. I wish you all the best and all the strength you need to get through this time. Feel free to talk to us! We are here to help support you in reaching your goals. As you can see from past posts, there are many of us on here who can relate to both the cancer and the loss issues. This could be the perfect group for you to be with, right now, to help you talk care of you and achieve your weight loss goal and keep it off through these events. |

Hi, everyone. I'm going to post and then will go back and catch up. After a 3-day jump-start, and a weight loss of 6.5 pounds, today I started the program and have to say I LOVE IT. What is amazing to me is I've had no cravings and I was a person who gave in to cravings....221 pounds' worth of cravings. Loved the omelet and the chicken soup. I added 2 cups of steamed asparagus to the soup and some scallions..delicious. Tonight it's London broil, salad and more asparagus. Don't even feel like I'm on a diet. Looking forward to trying some chocolate pudding in a couple hours. Hate the Walden Farms dressings, so took a tip from someone who posted here yesterday and tonight I used apple cider vinegar and olive oil and it's good. Admittedly, I'm in the honeymoon phase, but have to say I don't even feel like I'm on a diet....yet.
