Elizabeth - I hear you about the hormones and BPAs. I actually took MY 5 year old daughter to the Dr because she developed body odor. I got some lame answer like the woman in the article so did some research. I threw out all plastic bottles - we are a steel canister house only now and I switched to Organic milk. It helped.

However, she's always been plump. Not fat. She has great legs and arms but she's always had this belly. She LOVES to eat and I struggle to help her make the right choices. I've been open with my need to get rid of my belly. (she's only 6). But we live with the most infuriating men in the world - they don't eat much but they can eat whatever they want - mostly meat and chocolate and chips. We have completely different metabolisms. I guess I need to start explaining this to her... Recommendations on how to do that with a 6 year old??

Anyway, thanks for posting the article and the reminder that we need to carry the better eating message forward.

I am really battling with depression these days. I am trying to fight is as much as I can. My coach who is also a Holistic doctor has give me some herbs to try I am hoping it helps. I hate feeling this way as it really affects my weight. Trying to stay focused and working out helps. I am just happy I have this forum as reading all your posts helps me get through the day !!

Went out last night, met some friends I hadn't seen in months. Comments: you look hot!, did you become single?, wow your boobs are small babe, coke is working for you then?, etc etc was nice :) though it honestly took me 2 hours to get dressed! NOTHING fits anymore. Wore a pair if pants that had actually made me pass out from tightness before, now held up with a safety pin. Really need clothes but love my old ones as spent much time buying them.

I too go through that from time to time, mainly when there are things in life that I have no control over like parents aging etc. It will all fall into place soon enough. What helps me is some alone time and getting out of the house, taking a walk and sitting at a coffee shop and not telling anyone where I am. Makes me look at things differently. Hugs.

I have gone thru those times also, I feel for you  This might be too new age for you, but have you ever read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle? That has helped me in the past. In fact, I think I'll dig it out again...

organic milk is HUGE... I had my daughter on Organic milk as long as I could and when I switched she developed breast over night!

I know it's costly but all organic food would be best...preservatives are killing us.

My advise is you BOTH get active TOGETHER... get some activities that you both can do, maybe swimming or walking, etc... it will help you bond too ;-)

LOADS of water... but watch those containers ;-) and ban colas from your house PLEASE!

I feel good, nanananana - I knew that I would . . .

Last evening, while my daughter's cross-country practice was going on, I walked the "loop" which is about 4 miles. I didn't have a watch on, so I hurried, jogging some, to be sure she wasn't waiting on me. When I got back to the school, she wasn't done yet. So, in approximately an hour, I walked 4 miles!! :running:

It felt so good to be able to do that - I was sweating like a pig, but excited, too!

Now that TOM is on his way out, I feel so much better. I could see a difference in the mirror this morning and I'm wearing my favorite color, red, AND today is Friday!! How could this not be a great day??:D

I love your thinking -- get moving instead of waiting. You must feel great! 4 miles in a hour is a good clip!

Weird moment this morning: I found myself having a craving for IP chocolate pudding.:?:

Agree! that is a pretty good pace.

I woke up very early this morning so instead of watching TV with coffee, I decided to hit the treadmil. It was only for 20 mins but I am wondering how working out twice a day (once in the morning and once after work) will effect things. I guess I am hoping I wont be out of juice by my gym time around 5pm.

I asked my boss to cut off my hair into a chin length bob..She didn't want to do it.. I insisted..My co workers were shocked, I always had the long wavy beautiful hair that I wore many ways.. well now that my face is thinner I can wear a smooty bob! My hair grows an inch a month, really! So If I want it long again it'll grow!! I just needed a change, hoping it helps the blues go away... it has!!!

I'm glad you liked your haircut and it was the upper you needed!

I echo your thoughts with being emotional. I lost my 60-year-old dad on June 9 after a five-month battle with cancer (WAY too fast).... a freak cancer... esophageal, even though he didn't smoke or drink ever.

So sorry for the loss of your dad. A lot of times esophageal cancer is a result of GERD, which a lot of us have when we're overweight. Just one more reason to take care of ourselves by losing the weight on IP.

Just a thought... Could we have a Sticky labeled "IP - Simply Facts"? We could use this to post the files for protocol, nutritional values, etc. There are probably 10 or 15 posts throughout our site that have important informational attachments. It seems like we repeat them frequently because nobody can find them. I would think the number of posts could remain small. Any thoughts?:)

The problem is this, the forum was set up to cover those things. The stickies are for posts only. They are not to have general chat about the posts.

I have sent a message to our moderators, Leenie and Ruthxxx, hopefully they can assist in some way to simplify what we have and make it more manageable. Until we get their answer maybe the following "crude directory" can help. :)

We have PHASES which is just supposed to be the information for the phases, no chat, just the basic information.

We have FAQ which is supposed to cover all the things that come up again and again. It wasn't suppose to be a chat thread, just a place to continue to post the commonly asked question and answer(s) to that.

We have Recipes2 which is suppose to be all current recipes including tips on how to make the packets better or part of other recipes.

Tips for newbies was suppose to address anything about making the program more "workable" and how to get around this forum.

Restaurant guide was suppose to have offered a place for tips on eating out and suggestions of restaurants (local or chain) that have IP friendly menus.

Alternative Ideas and Tips is a sticky to help people who are trying to create a psuedo-IP protocol using alternate products or vegetarian items. Sometimes people not buying IP but doing the process aren't sure if they have the right nutritional info or the supplements matching up well. This is a place to post things and ideas that fit the bill.

The sticky RECIPES is closed but is all the original recipes from July to October 2009 when this thread began.

The sticky Ideal Protein Diet is all the original Ideal Protein information and chat, during 2009, before this diet forum had a large following and before we had our own subforum.

Travel is a thread and not a sticky but it is for travel tips and how to make travel easy on IP

Exercise is a thread and not a sticky. It is a place for exercise information from Elizabeth and questions about exercise.

Progress Photos is a thread not a sticky. A place to brag on your progress and show it off in pictures.

Life After Phase one is a thread of information and light chat. Novak started this thread as a place for those in the phases after phase 1 (and I think 2) to ask questions, share support, and tips/ideas related to maintenance. Is that right Novak or, am I explaining wrong?

OOPS is a thread just to allowing venting about off plan moments and foods. It makes it less challenging for some who read the general thread to not see the discussions about food cheats that can happen which, they are trying to avoid.

Vitamins and Supplements is a thread just for discussion of those things. It hasn't been used in a while so, it is back around page 6 (as of today).

IP Alternate Phase 1 is a thread dedicated to those doing only alternate products to be on IP. The original thread was created by ogdog and was closed march of 2010. It has some great tips for those on alternate products. I can't find another thread, if one was ever started after the first was closed.

There are 2 threads related to vegatables and vegetarian on this diet. One addresses how to get your veggies in and the other addresses how to get the protein as a vegetarian.

There are lots of other threads. Some are duplicates. Some are just quick questions for a personal issue. Some may hold a great tidbit (like the ketosis thread).

ANYONE can create their own thread to address a concern or question. It makes it much easier to find the answers instead of trying to pull them out of the many general chat posts.

ANYONE can resurrect a thread of an appropriate topic when that concern is coming up again for them. It would be nice if we did this more often as it prevents duplication and makes those threads/information more findable and valuable. For instance, ketosis questions kept in the same place instead of 5 separate threads. Doing this also makes it easier to see when we have something that is really worthy of being a sticky topic.

I know right now we have 3 or 4 people working on making a thread of technical information that can be converted to a sticky thread.

When you are at the Ideal Protein MAIN page, stickies at top and threads at bottom, For each thread topic line if you look to the right side, before the name of the poster, you occasionally see a paper clip. Those paper clips are attachments. If you click on the paper clip it will bring up the list of all attachments in that thread. Clicking on any one in the list will open it for you. This is an easy way to find the nutritional data, supplements information, phases sheets, carb counts, and so much more.

I hope that helps. I think we can make this much more user friendly! :)

Please let me in on this so we can avoid duplication of things that are already available in the Forum Help Section.
