Hey all! I am on day 9 and I still have cravings for carbs! Does this go away? I have my 1st weigh in today and i am excited to see if I lost any weight. My clothes are still really snug but I am trying to stay positive! :-)

Hey all...

Well my husband and I just started IP 6/5/2010...so today would be day 5. So far today I feel pretty great...but we shall see how the day goes on, the first 4 days have been rough but I stuck to it and thinking I am finally in ketosis. (I hope!) Really glad I found this forum, it's nice to have others to share info and successes with.

So Day 4 is in the books for me and this morning was awful...I felt sick to my stomach after I got to work...shaky and dizzy...Then it went away. I don't know if it was anxiety about life in general or IP related. Anyway, I take meds for high cholesterol and high blood pressure, so I had my BP taken and it was great.

Oh well...the rest of the day was fine. I've given up on the fruity drinks...I'm going to trade those in for chocolate drink mix. I haven't tried the vanilla pudding or the lemon pudding that i bought...I think that tomorrow afternoon, I will put together one of the puddings with some cinnamon and freeze it. I am trying to save the chocolate for breakfast!!!

My coach called to check in and she was so sweet! I am very excited to weigh in on Monday. I promised myself that I wouldn't weigh myself before then and it's killing me. I work in a school and occasionally check my weight in the nurse's office. I feel bad that I've been avoiding the office, but it's way too tempting. I really want to see what the first week of IP has done for me!!! And what I've done for myself!

Have a great Thursday!!! Good night!

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing something wrong...I am almost done with day 4, and aside from being tired all the time (which I am normally, low iron anemia) I haven't really noticed a difference. I have been diligent in making sure I'm only having the right veggies and weighing my protein, etc... and I'm drinking about 8 of the IP shake cups of water a day (sometimes more)...Shouldn't I be experiencing a change into ketosis by now?

The good news, is that being more responsible about my food seems to be helping. My scale (named Sybil because she likes to tell me something different every time I step on her) told me that as of the start of my day 4 I was down 4.5 pounds... Again - extremely happy about that, but just wondering if maybe I'm doing something I shouldn't be (or not doing something...)

Regarding the lettuce questions... i was told that I can have only 3 types of lettuce: iceberg, romain or butter lettuce. i like the butter lettuce best!

Hi, let me introduce myself? I was 68 last Saturday, widowed 20 years, have a son, daughter-in-law, and 2 year old grandbaby, who live in Berlin, and a 99 year old father, who lives on the east coast of the states. I'm on an island in the Pacific, where I was working when I retired. I also have two wonderful pets -- Andy the Cat who'll be 18 on Bastille Day and a 5 month old male Papillon.

I've had 3 major weight gains in my life: when I stopped nursing and thought I could still eat 1,000 extra calories a day; when I developed hypothyroidism (which wasn't diagnosed until I gained 30 pounds); and since I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue I've not been able (or, more likely, not willing) to exercise at the levels I used to. Enough ! I said on my birthday. Enough relying on being small boned to hide fat, and so on, and so on.

So here's my goal -- to lose 40+ pounds, exercise at least enough to give the puppy a good work out, and go to Germany for a while to watch the baby grow. In other words, re-write my life which has gotten to be a rather boring read in the past few years. I'll gratefully take all the help I can get. Over the past few days I've read almost the entire I P blog and have loved every one -- so informative and so encouraging, so caring.

The funny thing is I've been waiting since last Thursday to get started. There's only one IP coach in Hawai'i and she's on a different island so I'm doing this pretty much by e-mail and slow mail. VERY slow mail. Next USP
delivery late Monday so the earliest I will get started is Tuesday. The only reason I mention this, and it's kind of funny, is that I think there must be some agonies waiting to start not unlike waiting to stop. Cheers.

HI All,

I am on day 8!! Weekends are always the most challenging for me but I made it through. I just really tried to stay out of the kitchen. I have been drinking lots of water to avoid feeling hungry....it's working. A little trick I learned on another program was drinking warm water. I have a cup of boiling water and sip it like coffee....it gives you the comfort of something warm without the calories or caffeine.

I tried to work out Saturday morning before having anything to eat and I was barely able to. Energy level was so low. I did mild cardio for an hour. Going forward I am going to have a shake before I hit the gym.

Stay strong!!!

We're on the same day This weekend was really hard for me as well... I definitely get more water in while at work, and everyone at home seems to eat ALL WEEKEND LONG!!! But the first weekend is done, so we press on

Way to go with the cardio. I haven't done any massive exercising yet, just some very brisk walking. I have found the fitday thing is a great motivator, telling you how much you've burned versus what you've taken in. Keep going, you're doing a great job!!!
