Mornin...

judi, congratulations on your weight loss! 7 1/2 lb. in 1 week..that's awesome!:cb: :bravo: :cloud9: That much weight loss makes you want to keep on going. Offhand, do you know what the eating plan is like for type C? From the photo I saw it looks like a balanced meal, also the same for with D & E...I know, I saw all 3  It must be soooo nice to have a "GOOD" dog to walk with. Took Lacee for a 1/2 hr. walk the other day and she was really panting. Luckily DH was coming back from an early appt., saw us, stopped, and I put Lacee in the car so that he could bring her home. So, I had to finish the walk by myself. Of course, I wasn't getting the upper body workout I was getting on the first half of my walk.

Cher, glad that you are having a good time with your grandkids. I will look for that Talapia fish at our local Super Walmart. Although sometimes they don't carry the same food up here that they carry in FL. Like judi, I only know that BFL stands for Body for Life.

Hey ledom & Cheryl.

Have a great day.

ledom 06-19-2003 11:01 AM

Hey everyone,

We got back Tues. night late. I am spent, but am slowly getting back to normal. Carb hangover all day yesterday from my week off. I am back on plan, but still to do my first workout - why is it so hard when you have taken time off? Just as soon as I finish up here I am doing it!

So - what a busy bunch you have been! A new grandbaby! Congrats Cher.

judi-sounds like you are tearing it up with Michael Thurmond, congratualations to you as well.

Alice, glad the weather up your way is improving a bit and that you are able to walk and to garden again.

Cher how are those kitties? Brody was bouncing off the walls the night we got home. Now he has settled back down and is napping in my lap as I post.

It's good to be back.

Ohe yeah - BRx is Body Prescription, BFL is Body for Life, L&S is Lean and Stong a great website that supports the BFL and BRx way of eating and exercising.

More later.

aleka 06-20-2003 02:57 PM

We have actually had 2 beautiful days weatherwise, which is surprising because it was supposed to be cloudy and raining.:?: Those are the kind of mistakes I like when the weather people are wrong.

ledom, good to have you back! Did you have a wonderful time? Has Brody calmed down now that you've been home for a while? He was very happy to see you. How was your first day back OP?

Cher, I found the Talapia fish at Walmart today. DH, who loves fish, and I, who does not, are looking forward to trying it. I'll let you know how it is.

judi, Cheryl, hope you both are doing well.

Have a good weekend everyone.

4myloves 06-20-2003 04:25 PM

Had my post-vacation weigh-in last night. Neither gained nor lost (I've been working like a dog since I got back Sat. nite). My leader very kindly pointed out that I WILL gain at my next week's meeting, sometimes it just takes a while for the bad actions to catch up with us......Gee, thanks a lot. I hope she was just trying to inspire me to do better this week, because if not, she's not a very good leader!

Anyway, welcome back, Ledom. Alice, glad you're having a break in the weather!

Hi Judi and Cher!

Cheryl

ledom 06-21-2003 10:17 AM

Good morning, Cher - I bought a pkg. of Talapia too. Do you season it in any way?

judi, can you eat protein powder and cottage cheese on your diet? They really save me. I am not a vegetarian but meat isn't my favorite even though I am eating a lot of it these days. I have recently started buying chicken from the butcher instead of this grocer. It is like you remember chicken tasting when you were a kid, not full of injected saline or whatever it is they use. I spend $20 a week on 4 pkg. of breasts - while it is more expensive, I can actually eat it instead of wasting it. I marninate it in lime juice and cilantro, then sprinkle it w/ cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper and grill it outside.

Losing momentum during my trip has been hard to overcome but I think I am back up to speed. My first workout was he##, yesterday it was easier though. I feel SO much better when I am living a fit life.

Cycle 3 starts tomorrow - thought I'd never get this far. As you may remember it is the fatburing cycle. Sure hope the big pay-off comes in the next 6 weeks. I will try to add some cardio back into the mix even though it isn't required.

BRx has really been painful. I have gained a lot of strength but haven't lost any weight yet and I feel that I am stuffing myself all the time. I think it must be better suited to someone without as much weight to lose as amounts of food are based on body weight. I'll see how this final cycle goes before I decide what I need to do next. I think it might involve the BRx workout and the BFL diet.

Brody grew while we were gone. He has settled down. He is such a striking looking cat. D and I are just in love with him, we talked about him the whole time we were gone. When he is just awake from his nap he plays like a maniac, just a whirlwind, and when he wears himself out he drops on the spot because his eyes get so heavy. Kittens are such fun.

esteban 06-21-2003 02:54 PM

Goodmorning all!

Hi Ledom, glad your back. No there is no dairy whatever on MT. Which I think is kind of weird but it is all to do with food combining. When you are in the "living lean" phase you can add back low fat or no fat dairy. Yesterday I had a 1/2 cup of low fat yougurt with raspberries instead of fish and fruit for my snack in the late afternoon. I will see if it messes up the losing process but I think we women need the calcium. I can't have protein bars but can have protein powder drink if it doesn't contain sugar, salt, dairy etc. I haven't had any protein powder because I would rather eat the fish for a snack because you can mix it with greens (which are free) and make a salad. THis mornings snack was 1/2 cup grapefruit and 1 0z. tuna mixed into salad greens. It was good.

I have been doing my walking about 50 min. a walk but still haven't started the resistance exerecises. I am always waiting for the "right" moment.

Alice, I gave the type C diet and information to my WW friend. The next time she comes over I will get her to bring it and I will copy it out. It gives types C's a choice of beef that me as a type A could not have because I have the most sluggish metabolism. It is only 2 0z. though...with no fat of course. Also type C can have fruit with their carb. (like 1/2 cup oatmeal and the fruit) for breakfast.

Basically my menu card goes like this:
Breakfast - 2 oz protein (my case... fish or egg whites) and 1/2 cup carb (oatmeal, rice, potato, yam)

mid morning snack
2 oz. fish or egg white 1/2 cup low sugar fruit (berries, grapefruit not cherries or watermelon and the like too high in sugar)

Lunch is 2 oz protein and 1/2 cup carb and 1 cup veggie A (cauliflower, brocc, etc. ...not carrots or corn, too much sugar) and then you can have the free ones like romaine,, tomato, mushrooms)

midafternoon snack- 2oz. protein and fruit same as morning

dinner- same as lunch

pm (optional) snack - 2oz. protien and 1/2 cup fruit

no wine, beer, soda (too much salt) but a 100 oz. water, usually I manage about 84 and coffee or tea but has to be black

It is good because I don't get hungry and until yesterday I had no cravings...yesterday the memory of peanut butter seemed quite spectacular. Maybe it was the yogurt that trew things off but anyway I resisted.

Goodmorning Cher and Cheryl and Alice and all the pets. I bet you were gald to see Brody, Ledom:D I will be so glad to see our cat. DH says he is getting big.

aleka 06-23-2003 11:54 AM

Good morning...

We finally had a Saturday where it did not rain! Sunday afternoon was another matter though.;)

I had lunch with a cousin yesterday. She has lost 20+ lbs. just by using Leslie Sanesone's Walk Away the Pounds tapes. She does the 2 mile walk 5 - 6 days a week, and hasn't changed her eating habits, other than cutting back on sweets. It has taken her pretty close to a year to lose the weight. She still wants to lose another 20 or so lbs. She really inspired me to get off my big a#$ and get moving again. So, I went for a walk this morning.

judi, that's wonderful you walking 50 min. Have you started the toning exercises yet? Your menu sounds balanced, eating a protein with a carb. Are you allowed sugar free jello? That's been a life saver to me at night for a snack.

ledom, are your workouts getting any easier? How is Cycle 3 different than 1 & 2 other than it's the weight loss stage? Do you eat the same types of food, or do you eat more? That is a good idea to combine BFL & BRx if you are uncomfortable with the amt of food you are eating. Oprah had Bob Green on her show one afternoon. He said that you have to make any diet your own, otherwise you won't do it for life.

Hi Cher & Cheryl

Have a good day.

judi 06-23-2003 12:39 PM

Alice

That is amazing about walking away that much weight!!! That inspires me too. I have been walking but still haven't started my resistance exerecises yet. I had better watch the video again as I probably have let so much time go by I won't remember them correctly and it is important to do them just right.

We have been having rain here too.

I bought some brown rice protein powder...BLECH! and it was $38.99 for a bottle of it. Since I have to use water (not milk or soy) I think I will add a tsp. instant coffee to it with the fruit sort of a fat girl's frappaccino.

Yesterday I wore a long linen dress that I bought in SF two years ago and never wore (too fat). It felt good but it was now on the BIG side...it was an Eileen Fisher dress so I think I am going sell it at one of those places instead of just chucking it out...it is probably STILL on my Visa too. But it felt good to wear it.;)

HI Ledom and Cher and Cheryl!

judi 06-23-2003 12:41 PM

Hey! what happened to Esteban?

In the last post how did I get to be judi again?

aleka 06-23-2003 01:27 PM

Judi...

There must be gremlins at work. It didn't dawn on me until your 2nd post! DUH! Even my e mail from 3FC said judi.

4myloves 06-23-2003 03:38 PM

JUDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE BACK!!!! SOME CHICK NAMED ESTEBAN HAS BEEN MASQUERADING AS YOU!!!! :):):):)

Seriously, it is weird that it just changed you back like that. Maybe you remembered your old password and typed it in by mistake? Go figure.

Have to go to the Dr. this afternoon because I'm bleeding and shouldn't be. I am very scared about this visit. Would the 4 of y'all please say and extra prayer for me?

Cheryl

aleka 06-24-2003 06:23 AM

It's supposed to be HOT today!

Cheryl, hope you made out alright with the Dr. I know how scary something like that can be. Please let us know how things went.

judi/estaban, :D that is great news about your dress being on the big side. :cb: Pretty soon you'll be shopping for a smaller sized wardrobe. I really was surprised that my cousin lost that much weight just by walking and cutting back on sweets. Did you watch the resistance training video and start doing them? That is something I should start doing myself. I keep telling myself that, but haven't done it yet.:o

Hi ledom and Cher

Have a good day everyone.

ledom 06-24-2003 08:08 AM

Good morning to everyone. Cheryl, I add my positive thoughts to your having a good report from the Dr. Taking action will help put your mind to rest.

judi - glad you are having good results. Having clothes that are too big is a GOOD problem isn't it?

I have a busy day ahead, must actually do some costuming work today.

Girls, get those weights out - I am addicted to them now. They give me a feeling of empowerment and strength and the work adds so much to my sense of health.

judi 06-24-2003 12:52 PM

Goodmorning!

Cheryl...I am going to mass this afternoon and will spend some time praying you for SURE! Those kind of things always freak me out too.

Alice, no alas, I still haven't started the resistance training. I should too because I have been sneaking peeks on the scale and it hasn't budged downward since last week:?:

I am feeling so good though with no bread...I am amazed, I had two brown rice cakes, no salt kind and felt so decadent this morning. I can have those for my carb. I think I am one of those people who is sensitive to carbs probably developed after a lifetime of stuffing my self with them.

Today my D and I are going for lunch at the Four Seasons, I hope I can find a MT type thing to eat. Maybe a salad and some seafood.

Ledom, I am glad you feel that way about weights, it gives me a bit more of a desire to try them...I would love it if I had nice deltoids like yours instead of ham arm and shoulder:mad:

Hmmm, it is weird on this diet the bottom part of me seems to losing the most, I can tell from my clothes while the top part is staying the same:?:

Enjoy the day everyone...SUMMER!!...Yahoo!!
:goodvibes :goodvibes

aleka 06-25-2003 10:38 AM

Summer had finally arrived!

It was in the 90's yesterday and the temp. is well on its way to 90 again!:cb:

judi, you will see the scale budging again. You lost a lot of weight last week and your body may be trying to catch up. You are doing a great job...your clothes are even getting larger on you. I read somewhere that the first place you lose is in the area where you gain it the last and vise-versa. That doesn't seem fair. I carry my weight in the middle, my legs and arms are relatively thin, and that's where I lose weight first.:censored:

ledom, how are the costumes coming along?

Cheryl, how did you make out at the Dr? Hope you got good news. I'm sending some good vibes your way.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Cher, hope the rain has stopped and you are seeing some sunshine.

Have a great day everyone.

ledom 06-25-2003 09:46 PM

Whoa Alice, your temps are up with ours. It's steamy here, but we should get a little break tomorrow w/ a high of 82.

I am in the diet doldrums, I can't say I am really happy w/ BRx, but I've come this far. I'll stick it out a bit longer. Tonight, for the first time in a long time I was feeling so sorry for myself diet wise that it crossed my mind how much I'd like an ice cream cone. I have been having those thoughts lately and that really hasn't been a problem until recently. I do love the workouts though.

I am adding cardio, just on the days I don't lift for C3.

Cheryl, let us know how you are doing.

aleka 06-26-2003 07:44 AM

Good morning....

Yes, it is really hot here. Today it's supposed to be well into the 90's with high humidity. Supposedly some storms are due sometime today and by tomorrow it's supposed to be a little cooler. When I looked at the thermometer at 8:00 pm last night it was still 90 deg. Both our air conditioners are humming!

DH & I got back from our walk a little while ago, and it was very hot on the road at 6:30 am.

I have been in Preventions site and am looking seriously at the South Beach Diet. It's almost like Atkins, but a lower saturated fat version. Also, unlike Atkins you don't have to count carbs. It does sound interesting.

ledom, sorry about the diet doldrums. I am sort of in that place myself so I know what you're going through. I had a Dr. appt. the other day. She knew I was going to WW a few months ago. I told her that I had lost my motivation. She said that WW probably wasn't the eating plan for me. She really surprised me with that comment. Maybe the BRx food plan is not for you. Let us know what you decide to do after BRx.

HI! judi, Cheryl, Cher

Have a good day everyone.

judi 06-26-2003 09:19 AM

Goodmorning

It is weigh day...I lost 1/2 lb. this week, so the 2 week total is 8 lbs. I could have slowed it up by having yogurt twice and having no fat cheese twice on rice cakes with the egg whites (sort of a MT egg mcmuffin) and on some days I couldn't make it to my 100 oz. of water. It is ok, I am not discouraged ,I think this is the eating plan for me. There is no dairy of any kind on the reduction part of the program but I thought if I eat any more fish I am going to p#%e.

Ledom GO EAT that ice cream cone...enjoy every moment of it and then go right back on the program.

What did the doctor say Cheryl?

How is everything going Cher?

Alice, this week I added up the points on some MT days and they were about 1 point under my ww max. ideal. Apparently WW is going to come out with some changes to the program. It only ever gets better so maybe they might capture your imagination. News from WW instructor friend but she couldn't say what ...it is a BIG secret.

Sheesh, I feel for you girls with the hot weather...it is in the 60's to 70's here. THe yard is has really grown this year. It is very lush.

The DH and cat will be away still for a week and a half...this has been our longest time apart in a long while almost 5 weeks. I think I would have found it impossible to cook and still stay on MT especially in the beginning when I was learning the program.

Hang in there everyone!

ledom 06-26-2003 12:05 PM

Hey judi - I ENVY you 5 weeks in your house alone. I am ready to send DD back to school, seems like we are having one huge crisis after another around here lately!

Well, I know what you mean about the ice cream but I am really going to try to do 6 weeks w/out a red food (red meaning off the diet). I may make some other changes though so that I won't end up really bitter. It is too much food on this last cycle (really it has been all along, but I am starting to crack now). I just can't eat all the protein but I will eat all I can. Once this cycle is over I will definitely be moving on to something different. I think this diet is for someone with much less weight to lose than I. I must say I have learned a lot and don't have any real regrets so far, just sad that the scale is going the wrong direction, albeit I do know it is muscle and I don't think I am any larger than when I started.

Brody, Brody, Brody, I love my baby kitty.

4myloves 06-26-2003 03:31 PM

Well, the Dr. drew blood, so I've gotta WAIT to find out what the problem is....I hate that!

Alice, I'll bet when I get up there in July, it'll be hotter there than it is HERE!

Ledom, I know what you mean--I love my girls, too. I haven't gotten as attached to Birdie yet as I am to Baby, but I still like her an awful lot :)

Judi--congrats on the loss!!!!

Thanks to all of you for the thoughts, prayers and good vibes!

Hey Cher!

Cheryl

ledom 06-26-2003 08:05 PM

Hey guys,

Well UNCLE - I can't do BRx any longer without doing some tweaking and so I have a new plan. It is the same eating style but much less food. I am borrowing from a diet I found someone post at L&S. By golly, this 6 weeks is going to be about fat burning no matter what. The final straw was trying on a skirt today that felt TIGHTER in the waist. I am not knocking BRx, it just isn't working for me. I am going to keep the same lifting scheme.

Sorry you have to wait for your news Cheryl.

Cher, whatcha doin' girl?

aleka 06-27-2003 06:03 AM

Good morning,

Just sitting here savouring my first cup of coffee and waiting until it's time for my walk.

ledom, sorry that BRx did not work for you. Sometimes you've just got to "tweak" things a bit so that you can stay with it for the long haul. That's good news you've decided on what you are going to do. Good luck with your new eating plan. Let us know how it works for you.

judi, congratulations on your weight loss!:cp: I am glad that MT is working so well for you and that you have found something you like to do. Is there any other type of protein you can have besides fish? I know you are a vegetarian, so chicken is out. Are you allowed Boca Burgers or any other meat substitues? I have heard that WW will be coming out with some changes, sometime in Sept. I believe. It will be interesting to see what the changes are. I hope some are for the better.

Cheryl, waiting for medical tests can be very stressful. Did your Dr. have any idea from examining you, what it could caused it, and when will you hear about your tests? I will be thinking about you.

Cher, how are you doing? You must be really busy with your new granddaughter.

Take care and have a great weekend. :balloons:

ledom 06-27-2003 08:02 AM

Good morning,

Alice - we are both up bright and early and have identical agendas. Woke up to a beautiful day. Low humidity, high in the 80's, a brief respite from the crushing humidity we have been having. It made my walk SO delightful and I had energy to spare.

I also woke up really excited about how I am going to eat today. I feel really relieved after having this mental battle for weeks it seems like. My breakfast was about 1/2 the size I have been eating and it seemed normal, and filling. My worry is that I have stretched my stomach so that I'll get hungry now. I have a guideline for what I want to do, but I am going to keep my options open for the next 2 or 3 days on exactly what I'll end up doing. I am thinking now I'll go from 6 meals a day to 5, but I'll have to see how that works first.

D and I bought tickets to see a performance of "Gypsy" on July 6. That is an exiciting thing to look forward to.

My own DD has decided that the costume from the costume rental doesn't suit her so yesterday we shopped for fabric and pattern to make one to her specs. This will be a joint project and I hope she'll be happy with it. It is a belly dancing outfit.

Today is the day I plan to finish developing my backlog of film. I have been such a procrastinator this summer but I am feeling as though I have a lighter heart now and hope to get more stuff done for the rest of the summer.

D is going out of town tonight on her first road trip with one of her girlfriends. I will worry, but also look forward to having her out of the house.

judi 06-27-2003 12:22 PM

Canada Day on July 1st!

Got to remember to put out my BIG flag for this weekend:) !

Well, you are a good girl Ledom not eating the ice cream cone. People like you are always rewarded in the long term.

Alice, no I can't have veggie meat substitutes because they contain a lot of wheat gluten and I do think I have a wheat allergy and that was part of my problem. I am the ONLY fat vegetarian I know. But it would make sense with the body type I have and no exerecise ... to get get fat.

Went for a nice walk in the woods yesterday. This island has so many nice trails to walk on. We are blessed here.

I am having a problem eating all the food, especially the protein part. Bleyurp!!!:( I found a fruit flavoured carbonated drink to mix the protein powder with and that is helping a bit.

Sorry you have to wait for the news Cheryl.

My D flew out to LA to meet DH and give him some company for the last week he is there. Poor guy. THough he has developed some cooking skills he said. They are going to go to Annaheim for a conference and take in Disneyland. So they will be there for July 4th.

Brody must be a very sweet cat:smug: I miss our cat, DH said he had to let out his walking harness twice in the last 5 weeks because he is getting so fat.

Do you sew Ledom? That is a skill I wish I had. I made a few things in high school in Home Ec. but now have forgotten everything I ever learnt about sewing.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

aleka 06-28-2003 07:36 AM

It has gotten cooler...the muggies have gone. The air we have now is so refreshing.

judi, sorry that your DH will be gone for Canada Day. 5 weeks is a long time to be away. Glad your D flew out to keep your DH company. Marley must be very happy to have the house to himself all these weeks.:cloud9: Your woods sound very lovely. That is one thing we don't do around here because there are too many mosquitoes around, plus we never know what we will meet in the woods.:fr:

ledom, did you finish your film developing as planned? I'm glad that you are feeling better about how you are going to eat. How are the 5 meals working so far? Are you a good sewer? I envy people who can sew well. I don't sew unless I absolutely have to. I was not a very good Home Ec student. ;)

Cheryl, hope you hear some good news soon.

Have a great weekend everyone.

ledom 06-28-2003 09:55 AM

Good morning, alice - it felt so good to eat 1/2 as much food yesterday. After spending a day eating less I felt even more confident about what I am doing. I did get hungry in the middle of the night last night and it was one of those stomach growling miseries that kept me awake so I got up and had a 6th meal. I think it was because my 5th meal got cut short by company and that I drink 2 strong coffees in the evening. I will see how it goes w/ 5 meals today.

When I was in high school I made all my clothes. Back then you did it to save money. Now sewing materials are SO expensive. Since having a child my sewing has mostly been limited to making costumes for one thing or another. I do enjoy those projects though. DD says she wants to help make this costume so hopefully it will be an opportunity to teach her how to sew. My mom taught me and it is something I would like to pass on.

Glad you have some pretty fresh air. Today is our last day of it before it turns hot again so I plan to get out and work in my yard.

Everyone have a great weekend. Oh yeah, I DID finish developing my film, next step, 34 proof sheets. That is how many rolls of film I developed.

judi 06-28-2003 12:30 PM

Sat. morning

Wow! Ledom! That is an amazing amount of shooting.

Yes, it is funny that too much food can be a problem isn't it? It is the same with the MT. But one thing, I don't have cravings on this diet and I was always craving something on the Prevention diet and WW. I think it is because I have eliminated wheat and sugar and also the food combinings are probably good for me.

Today is our anniversary, 26 years. Had a nice talk with the DH this morning on the phone. My D is there too.

It is going to be hot here today. My garden is loving it. I am going to go out today and cut a bunch of garden flowers and bring them in. Right now foxgloves and shasta daisies are making me a meadow.

Alice, Marley is on cloud 9, being king of the castle. He has lost some wieght on the MT too. He isn't getting any bread products which he loved and often got several time a day...my little carbo loading man.

Hi Cher and Cheryl!

aleka 06-30-2003 07:37 AM

Monday...

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Since it was so nice here weatherwise, quite a few people were around. I'm sure a lot of people took this week for vacation.

I was in the middle of posting a little while ago when we had a few rumbles of thunder...so needless to say I shut the computer down as fast as I could. We had mostly rain, but enough thunder to get her nibs all upset.

Well guys...I started the South Beach diet yesterday. Prevention is promoting it, so I figured it has to be healthy. There are 3 phases to the program. Phase I is the strictest, where I cannot have any pasta, bread, sugars, alcohol, etc. for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, or possibly longer (if you wish), you go to Phase II where you reintroduce some of these foods back into your diet. You stay on Phase II until you reach your goal weight. After you reach your goal weight, you go to Phase III, which is a lifetime commitment. It's really not low carb nor is it low fat. You eat good carbs and good fats. So, I decided to give it a try.

judi, HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY!!
I am sorry you were unable to celebrate with your DH. Will you be celebrating when he gets home? It will be interesting to see how both Marley & Esteban react to each other when your DH comes home. Also, I want to wish you a Happy Canada Day tomorrow! Are you doing anything special?

ledom, how did it go the next day having 5 meals? I'm glad eating less worked out better for you. The costume making will be a good opportunity for your D to learn how to sew. My mother did not sew, so that's where I probably got it from. A friend of mine used to sew dolls to sell, but developed joint problems so had to give it up. She tried to teach me to sew once, but it was a lost cause!:^: Did it get hot again? It has been a little less humid here, but the temps have been in the 80's.

Hi Cheryl and Cher

Have a great day ladies.

ledom 06-30-2003 12:16 PM

Hey Girls,

I am feeling so energized and I attribute it to the change in my diet. I think I was so busy eating and digesting I didn't have any energy left. I don't know why I couldn't see it more clearly while I was in the midst of it, but I am feeling much better. I am dedicating myself to eating fresh vegetables too. My current favorite is fresh green beans, and roasted squashes and eggplant w/ tomato sauce. I am finding that if I plan my veggies just right I can manage at least one meal a day w/o a carb. I am also weighing my carbs, like 6 oz. of potato is a serving or 3/4 cup oatmeal which I am having 4 times a day. Yesterday I was able to do 5 meals instead of 6 by timing all my meals a little later. I am just going to let the 6th meal be optional and not freak if I have it most days.

Alice, you new plan sounds interesting. I am hearing quiet a buzz about it so it'll be interesting to hear your experience with it. I started my "plans" at the end of Sept. 2002. I like setting a certain amount of time to try something. When I look back over the last 9 months there have only been about 3 weeks that I have not been monitoring my food. I know that is an improvement I have made this year.

I am also getting some more variety going w/ my exercise. I am adding a little cardio back in and I did a yoga tape over the weekend that was a bit of a revelation to me. I'd like to try to do it once a week.

Hiked this morning w/ my girlfriend on the mtn. We were through by 8:30 and felt very virtuous. I have my veggies cooking, my shower done and have energy to do something besides taking a nap. I hope to get some good things accomplished this afternoon.

Hope all of you are planning a good week.

Goodmorning

Hi gals!

The diet sounds very good Alice, I like idea of the phases. I had to introduce peanut butter and no fat cheese to my diet as well as tvp (textured veg. protein) because I couldn't stand the fish anymore. The scale seems to be inching its way down so I guess it is ok, just slower, but soy is really for the living lean section of the diet and not the reduction part. Keep us posted on the diet.

The other day I mixed a cup of TVP with a 7 oz. can of pizza sauce, let it sit for 30 min., stuffed a pepper with it and baked it until the pepper blistered...sort of "pizza pepper" and it was my protein. It was great. I now have made a few of them to have on hand.

What foods are you eating now Ledom? How much carbs? Any in the form of flour etc.? I am weighing carbs too on this diet. This last while my primary source of carbs other than fruit and veg. is a no salt brown rice cake. This diet is very diff. then before because I was always eating so many diff. beans and lentils and now I am having NONE.

Ledom, I am glad you are feel eneregized though you always seemed pretty highly powered to me.

We are having a nice gentle summer rain today.

I don't know if the DH and I will do anything for our anniversary. Probably not, but a few years back he took me to New York, I had never been at the point and I was over the moon. He can coast on the glory he got from that trip still for a few years.

My friend & cleaning lady is coming today to do my house and then I am taking her to a very nice tea house on the island for lunch. Give her a little treat, I wouldn't want to do without her.

Well I had better start the day. Everyone enjoy!!

Good afternoon/evening everyone!

judi, that "pizza" sounds really good. That's good the scales are moving in the right direction. How was your lunch with your friend. That was awfully nice of you to take her. Speaking of beans and lentils, you are allowed kidney beans & black beans on Phase I of this diet. I was really surprised because usually on low carb diets, this is a no-no:nono:

ledom, I too am glad you seem to have more energy and that that tweaking your diet was just the ticket. Did you get any remnants of Bill?

Cheryl, have you heard any results from your test yet? Please let us know.

Hi Cher

Have a great night.

ledom 07-02-2003 09:10 AM

Morning Girls,

Judi, The carbs I'm eating are from oatmeal, yams, white potatoes, and brown rice. I am not eating much fruit now, but occasionally have an apple or blackberries. Most protein is from eggwhites, and poultry w/ one serving of lean beef and 1/2 serving of cottage cheese a day. Vegetables at 3 meals. I am trying to eat really lean for the next 5 weeks and see if calorie reduction works  . I'm also adding variety to my exercise, adding some walking and yoga in. I journaled for 12 weeks on BRx judi and this week I have just suffered burn out. I do need to do a nutrient check on a days eating, but I have just been having 5 portions of protein, 4 portions of carbs, lots of veggies and for now that is my guideline. I also have some fat in the form of UDO's and Virgin Coconut oil. The thing I'm LOVING is fresh green beans, they are so tender now. I eat them plain as a side but what is great is to cook them 'til just tender but still crisp, drain and chill and put a huge handful on top of a salad, dress w/ udo's, spicy brown mustard and red wine vinegar, salt and pepper and yummmmmm.

How was your lunch judi? Hope you enjoyed your special days this week. What does everyone have planned for the 4th. I'll be grilling w/ my mother and daughter.

Costume construction has begun. I am making mourning veils for 4 characters in addition to d's costume. Dress rehearsal is July 14.

I do have more energy. Also, yesterday the scale kerplunked down 5 lbs., it was 5 lbs. of bloat. I don't know what it means but I like it.

4myloves 07-02-2003 12:46 PM

Hey,

I did indeed get the results from my test back--Everything checked out fine, and I am very grateful for that!! I do still have a trip to the ob/gyn scheduled to find out what's wrong with me! I'm just not as nervous now.

Thanks for the thoughts!

More later, Cheryl

P.S. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well on her respective programs!!

aleka 07-02-2003 05:24 PM

Cheryl, that's fantastic news! I bet you are relieved.:flow2: When do you see the OB/GYN?

ledom, congratulations on your weight loss!:cp: It must have been nice seeing 5 lbs. gone. I look at it this way, 5 lbs. is 5 lbs. no matter where it came from. I love to eat fresh green beans cooked the way you described. I also like to eat them raw.

Hey judi, whatcha up to today?

Have a good evening everyone.

aleka 07-03-2003 07:12 AM

ledom, Cheryl, Cher....

I want to wish you a very safe and happy 4th of July!! Is anyone doing anything special? DH & I are going to spend the day down to the lake, as it's supposed to be hot and humid.

Hey judi, how are you and Marley doing? Do you have Bentley while your D is in CA?

Have a good day!

Hi everyone!

Cheryl! Well PTL that is good news!:cp:

Ledom, good for you on the weight loss...FIVE pounds:smug: ! That shows me you were right about that ice cream cone that you resisted.

I am having a lot of steamed green beans on salad or just by themselves. Same with asparagus. Rapsberries are also in season here.

Alice, Bentley is with his human dad. I am letting Marley's coat grow out long again...I am always trying to but give up because when it long it so much work but he is SOOO cute...just a little musk ox. He was seriously tring to bite me though when I was brushing him, he might have arthiritis and it might hurt or him...OR...he could just be a brat. Anyway he will go on Monday to the doggie hairdressers. I guess the CAT my daughter said is getting HUGE. I miss him, maybe they will be home on Tuesday.

Ledom, my carbs are mainly brown rice cakes. Today I am going to a baked potato.

The scale stayed the same this week...I think I messed up with the addition of the forbidden dairy even though it no fat:( So I am back to tuna for week four.

My lunch with my friend was very nice. The tea house has very English sandwiches and desserts and huge assortment of tea.
Have fun grilling Ledom!

Have a wonderful FOURTH of JULY!!!:balloons:

ledom 07-05-2003 11:26 AM

Good morning gang

How is everyone? I just finished my 2nd yoga session. I feel so renewed from it. I am adding it on once a week. I really looked forward to it all week and it did seem a little easier this time. I am not very flexible.

judi, I know you are getting ready to have your family back - you'll have a lot of catching up to do.

How was everyones holiday. Mine was spent doing a lot of grilling but I got a lot of the next weeks cooking done as well. D and I went to see Legally Blonde 2 last night. Very silly, but cute - we enjoyed it.

The costume is coming along nicely, my house is torn apart and there is sewing stuff everywhere but it is kind of fun.

Have a good diet week folks.

esteban 07-05-2003 01:07 PM

HI!

Sounds like you had a nice 4th Ledom. Hey, how many times a week do you do weight training? How many times yoga?

I did the upper body resistance exerercises today, you do them once a week and then a lower body once a week. They goal is to do them in 18 min. increasing the reps week by week. It took me a 1/2 hour reading the book and trying to figure them out. It felt good though and was Surprising! kind of fun. I am going to do my "fat burning" exerecise (walk or treadmill) in a couple of minutes. Fat burning exerecise is supposed to be done everyday. My goal for this month is to exerecise 5 times a week. Also I am trying to get in my 100 0z. of water..glug

Ledom, on your diet do you have to have lots of water?

Alice, I have been lurking on your other thread...you have been doing really well. Where do you get that syrup for the topping? I have had sugarless jello and you are right, it is a good reg dessert substitute.

Today I put on an exerercise top and shorts and took poloroids of views of myself (minus my head) using the camera's timer. Not a pretty sight:lol: but I want them for "BEFORE" pictures...I am presupposing there is going to be an "AFTER".

It was cosmic to order MT for me I think...I have only ever seen it advertised once on tv (that time I ordered) and never again, though I have been watching for it. The food really is good for me, I get no cravings at all...first diet ever.

I bought a wheat free, sugar free, fat free baking mix...so I made a cake using applesauce for the fat, sugar twin for the sugar and egg whites for the eggs. SO I have a more interesting thing for my breakfast carb. I had it with a dollop of lf vanilla yogurt mixed with raspberries. It almost tasted like something normal.

Today when I was lying on the floor doing an exerercise Marley was concerned (he had never seen THAT before) he kept licking me and trying to bite the handles of the resistance thing.

Hi Cher and Cheryl! What is up?

aleka 07-05-2003 04:00 PM

Good afternoon....

We're having some delightful weather, the 3 h's. I actually got in swimming yesterday. We are expecting some storms later on this evening into tomorrow morning, and it's supposed to be less humid.

I really have not been very good these past couple of days with my diet. I did lose 3 lbs. last week, but got on the scale this morning, and have gained back 2! I have done a week of phase 1. I know you are not supposed to do this, but I honestly don't want to start over again and have an extra week of eggs and some sort of meat every morning :p. So, I've decided to jump right into phase 2 tomorrow. I want to stick to this woe because it really is healthy.

ledom, glad you are enjoying yoga so much. I'd like to see Legally Blonde 2 also. I saw the first one and liked it. I really think it was because of the dog.:D Good luck with your sewing project.

esteban, what happened to judi:?: I buy the Da Vinci s/f syrup online. They have a lot of great flavors. My favorite is vanilla, which I put into my oatmeal. There are some stores that carry it, but the only place I can find it is in Super Walmart, and sometimes they don't have the s/f. Here is the website for you to take a peek. www.DaVinciGourmet.com You were in Marley's territory when you were on the floor doing your exercises. Usually Lacee starts kissing me, I start laughing, then we end up playing. I am happy for you that you have found the woe for you. You really are doing great. Your DH, D, & Esteban should be coming home pretty soon.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

ledom 07-06-2003 10:18 AM

Yep judi....lotsa water!!!!

Are you going to journal your workouts judi? I do 4 strength days, 1 yoga day, and this last week I hiked or walked the other two days. I think I am going for that for the next 4 weeks. i can't believe I am about to start week 3 of this clean living. That is one of the joys of journaling those workouts, when the entries start to pile up and you have evidence of how hard you have been working.

I have taken to wearing my fat jeans from about 5 years ago around. THEY, make me feel better. I remember when they were stretched across my belly and now they are very very baggy. It is a slow journey let me tell you. Jeans I wore last year still fit just fine and I find that so frustrating!!!!

Alice, glad you got out in the lake. Floating in the water feels so good doesn't it?

Cher, Cheryl, hope your fourth has been a good one.
