Default Pc problem. Maybe u know the answer!

I'm not even sure this goes here but I guess it might. I got a question about my pc burner:

I have always been able to burn dvds and cds, but now I can't burn any dvd media - but the cd media burns fine. I use nero and even tried cdburnerxp and it won't burn dvds. I get an 'error to write' message each time. I can read dvd media and cd media fine for some reason though.
I also hear a noise like a buzzing and another sound when putting some old dvd copies in the burner (a sound like when u bunch up a new cd cover wrapper in ur hand, or just paper in ur hand).

I uninstalled the drive and reinstalled it, checked inside that all the connections were fine, and checked my ide, just in case, to find if they were set to dma, and all are fine. I even unistalled the software and reinstalled the firmware, and it still can't function properly. I have already failed to burn 8 dvds, with only one (the 5 one) seeming like it would burn all the way, but then it just froze/stalled when it got to writing the lead out.

If any one has any clue, any solid help would be very much appreciated.I got a lite-on ldw 851s burner by the way, and have tried 3 different media brands with no success - sony, memorex, tdk.

Are you burning the same file everytime? It could just be the file.

Make sure that you bought the proper dvd's. I accidentally bought a tower of 16x- but my dvd burner is not able to work with that speed (even if I request 8x or 4x burn)- the disks are not "backwards compatible", and Memorex has been kind enough to decide that they are not going to release new drivers for my burner to make it work with the new media.

Check to see what speed the dvd's are, if they are 16x- check the websight of your burner's creator and see if they've released a new driver for use with that speed, or try the older 8x's if you can find them.

All of the dvd makers are switching to the 16x, so it might not be brand, but speed that is the problem?
