Sorry the for the slow response, I've been gone all weekend.
Gary: I firmly believe that nothing is free. That's probably why I never have believed in the whole "believe in Jesus and you'll be saved" thing. But hey, if it's good for you, I guess that's fine.
Nobody knows for sure what happens after they die. You can believe, you can think you know... but the fact is that until you die, you know nothing of what does or doesn't happen afterward. To put it plainly, it's like saying you know what an orgasm feels like if you've never experienced it. Sure, you may have had the feeling described to you, but you really don't know what it is or where it takes you until it happens to you.
That's my take on it.
Lyd- thats my take on it too. I actually HOPE that there isn't ANYTHING after life because itll be redundant for me (not that i would know what would happen, and what happened before lived!)
I saw this article about 1 in 5 catholics attend mass. I am episcopalian and try to go to church but in actuality on make it about once a month. Did any of you grow up going to church and now find you and your family rarely attending except holidays? Is it because of busy schedules or what? Just curious why church seems to be getting further and further from people's weekly activities?
I grew up going to chuch 3 times a week and then it dwindled down to nothing and I didn't go for about 12 years AT ALL. Lately I have been trying to attend on Sundays again and I have to say, it's hard for me to get around and so easy to come up with an excuse!!
I need to go more, I really really do. I can tell such a difference in my entire life when I quit going
Wow..I didn't see Gary's before I posted--I was sent this in a email this morning from a friend that was telling me about how her feelings were hurt at church this weekend and wanted to share.
WOW!! I am working out of town on a job right now and don't come home every night. I just saw your post ~ our Pastor quoted the poem I sent in his sermon on Sunday and gave Carol Wimmer's name, he said she had a website under her name, which I went to and copied the poem I sent ~ she mentioned someting about the other one in her site ~ if you are interested you can carolwimmer DOT com her!
