YES! Awesome Docu. And pretty much was the same thing that many Dr.'s are now saying. He also mentioned several books that I would like to read. I actually read about 'FAThead' through another low carb blog called 'Your Lighter Side'. You'd have to google that! Anyways, 100g only seems like a lot to us -- a normal person eats double and triple of that if you can believe it! So, the fact that he just went under 100 and had such results just shows how carb laden our diets have become. AND how easy it would be for any person to lower their carb count and get results! Not all people would lose at that amount, but if you've never watched carbs before and have no insulin issues, I'd say you would.

I think there were some good points made about cholesterol. At first, I was worried about trying a low-carb diet because of all the meat and fat, which I have always been told were bad for you. I feel a lot better about it now because this documentary clearly explained how cholesterol works in the body.

Thumbs up Fat Head

Has anyone seen this documentary?? It's on Netflix for anyone interested. It's supposed to be busting the Super Size movie. This guy also ate fast food for a month at under 2000 cal/day and lost 12lbs and lowered his cholesterol. It also explains why other diet plans won't/don't work. Its very interesting!

Any thoughts??

Pretty much just supports calorie counting.

I found the low-carb aspect quite interesting, particluarly the doctor's expectations of "damage" in the blood test results from the high-fat low-carb diet, and his shock at seeing the opposite results.

I liked it. Of course, I enjoy most documentaries and anything else I can get my hands on concerning weight loss and maintenance.

My trainer gave it to be a while back. I thought it was very thought provoking and have incorporated a new way of looking at food after watching.

It's entertaining as well as informative. I love the animated graphics showing what insulin spikes do to our bloodstreams.

I loved it! I do believe he kept his calories below 2000 as well as carbs below 100 grams. It was a really good documentary.

Some of the "experts" consider any diet under 200g to be low-carb or carb-restricted.

I prefer the term carb-conscious, because when you say low-carb, there are always tons of people criticising not only your food choices, but your use of the word "low-carb." Some people following higher-carb plans will tell you you're not eating enough carbs, and anyone eating fewer carbs will not only tell you that you're eating too many carbs, they'll also tell you that you're "not really" following a low-carb diet, because only people eating what they're eating or less can legitimately (to them) use the word low-carb.

I follow a carb conscious exchange plan, and normally my carb intake falls at about 100g - 150g. I can lose weight on 100g, but it's very slow. I could probably lose faster if I reduced carbs more, but when I do that, I tend to have low-blood sugar issues (headaches, dizziness, mood swings and irritability).

100g really isn't all that much. You could easily get 100g just by eating 3 average sized apples.

I've been seeing this recommended to me on Netflix for a while now - I will definitely check it out! I love watching/reading things about the science behind the benefits of restricting carbs... I'm currently reading "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes and it's ALL about this topic. I'm loving it. So interesting.

And it's great to have some ammo for when the detractors come around and tell me how "unhealthy" my diet is

Ditto for me. If I eat under 100 gm and lower calories, I lose.
