  • I'm reading "Little Women." So far I really like it.
  • I decided on Anna and the French Kiss, and I had a hard time putting it down last night. I could have easily stayed up all night reading it.
  • I'm about half-way through The Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. While not as interesting as his cathedral books, I am enjoying this quite a bit.
  • The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. I started in July >.< I have no time at all =[
  • I'm reading Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. I was recommended the author by a friend - loving it so far
  • Is Anna and the French Kiss appropriate to use in a school setting for a ninth grade student or would it be too explicit in spots?
  • Quote: Is Anna and the French Kiss appropriate to use in a school setting for a ninth grade student or would it be too explicit in spots?
It has some mature themes (Ill parent, some swearing), but so far nothing as far as graphic sex scenes. I still have about 100 pages left. I should finish it tonight. I will make another post tomorrow if there's any scene of that type.
So far it's very innocent, the mixed signals of "does he like me, doesn't he" type thing. It kind of feels like the Judy Blume book Forever, minus the sex.
  • I'm reading "Girl with The Dragon Tattoo".

    Got it in my stocking.
  • I love to read Historical Romance. I just finished reading 'The Viscount Who Loved Me' by Julia Quinn. It was great! I am going to read 'Pride and Prejudice' now. I saw the movie on TV and I knew it was originally a book so I wanted to read it right away because the movie looked great.
  • Thank you, CanadianCutie,

I appreciate your help. I'm always trying to find books that teens will enjoy reading.

One of my students is currently reading The Hunger Games, which I recommend.
  • The Transformation of Things...Jillian Cantor
  • Two history books about queens - Cleopatra and We Two which is about Victoria and Albert who seems like a boring control freak!

My book club selection for January is The Ice Castle - really not sure of the title but it looks interesting.
  • I seem to be on a run of excellent novels. My fiance's family got me a novel as part of my Christmas gift from them. The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. It is fabulous. I stayed up two hours past bedtime last night because I couldn't put it down. It was only with very heavy eyelids that I finally forced myself to put it aside and cuddle up to my sweetie. As for the final look at Anna and the French Kiss, I stay with my thoughts of it being suitable for the 9th grade readers.
  • Currently and pretty much almost done a book called "gangs in canada" by Jeff Pearce it's kind of interesting (a good time killer at work).
  • I'm reading Hoda by Hoda Kotb right now and have Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff, Busy Body by MC Beaton, and Star Island by Carl Hiaasen waiting. So glad that Christmas is pretty much over so I can get back to reading. I was too busy making things to sell online to be able to read.

Hope this new year's a great one for all of us!
