I saw that with their new ace, Sabathia pitching.

EZMONEY 04-06-2009 08:47 PM

You gals KNOW it is still MARCH MADNESS?....that'd be basketball...wink

Sweetcaroline 04-06-2009 10:43 PM

OK... we'll give you one more night... GO MICHIGAN

EZMONEY 04-06-2009 11:08 PM

Nice way to START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BillBlueEyes 04-07-2009 03:59 AM

Congratulations Los Angeles

Yep, all of Los Angeles starts out on the right foot; Congratulations.

Now, one more time, SweetCaroline, cheer the Red Sox into a similar standing.

[Being much too good a sport to gloat that the NYY went down, LOL.]

Jen415 04-07-2009 09:45 AM

My two teams (Marlins and Cubs) won last night--YAY!

Slashnl 04-07-2009 10:58 AM

The Rockies went down last night, too. Darn.
What was with the pitching yesterday? It was a homer fest! I wonder if the exhibition games took too much out of the big pitching stars!

PearFreak 04-07-2009 03:40 PM

Ahhh Caroline you are borrowing Bills parka. Take picts.

BillBlueEyes 04-07-2009 03:48 PM

Look for THE parker

Yep,

Look in Section 8 of the Grand Stand, just under the overhang, for an elegant lady in a majenta parka with a zebra motif.

You can't miss her.

First pitch in just a few minutes. Gotta go.

PearFreak 04-07-2009 03:51 PM

Ahh it is megenta... here I was thinking it'd be navy or red, but Magenta. NOW I know what to look for, thanks Bill.

Gary, I don't watch a lot of baseball, but I did enjoy watching your boy Lowe pitch for us Sunday night... ;)

EZMONEY 04-07-2009 09:02 PM

He is your boy now SHANNON! I must say you have a good one too...outstanding pitcher.

PearFreak 04-07-2009 10:14 PM

Caroline... so how'd you like the game. How was the magenta parka? Didja wear it?

Clydegirl 04-07-2009 11:00 PM

Caroline are you home yet? :D

A much better game tonight. 9-3 final score.

Gary I am liking Khalil Greene. He is settling in very nicely and had a good spring. Just wish he would cut his hair.

Sweetcaroline 04-08-2009 12:14 AM

What a day... What a game... Sox win 5-3

Well guys it was worth the wait.. I decided I want to live at Fenway ! Just set myself up in one of EMC boxes :D
I heard a guy say it should be made the 8th wonder of the world.. lol

We were a little late getting into our seats and missed the 'surprise' entry of players from the grandstand seats, high-fiving all the way down the rows.. people were flipping out.. I was told they weren't anywhere near us, Thank goodness, I would have died if I missed that !

I was honored to be sitting in back of a 24 year old young man who is being deployed to Afghanistan at the end of the month, his 3rd tour.. when we shook his hand and thanked him for his service he said "thank you but its my job maam'" ... oh geez.. I had tears in my eyes... it was his first game ever... people were buying him food and souvineirs... he couldn't hold it all in his lap.

It was just a great day... and everyone sang to me during the 8th inning..
I was treated to a new hat and shirt :yay:

The parker and snow pants came in handy, it was FREEZING... nothing like April baseball in Boston..

Ok... sorry to go on and on.. I have to go catch up on what all of your teams have done... nite all...

BillBlueEyes 04-08-2009 03:21 AM

Red Sox tied for first place

My Dearest Sweet and Ms. Caroline,

You are to be congratulated for your visible and enthusiastic cheering of our beloved Red Sox to victory on Opening Day 2009.

Spotted you on the tele when the camera panned. Like your new hat. Take your word for the new shirt under all those layers.

Your fan,

Bill

P.S. Do not fail to note that the New York Yankees are tied for last place.

PearFreak 04-08-2009 09:09 AM

Aww, Caroline that sounds like the perfect nite out. From the guy sitting in front of you; who's going on tour, to the magenta parka, the new hat and shirt, everything. I am jealous. But know you did us proud cheering on the WINNING team.

Of course it was cold. It wouldn't be New England Weather. ... today may as well be 15 degrees warmer, and tomorrow 30 degrees colder. Right.

Slashnl 04-08-2009 11:47 AM

Rockies won! Yay!
Did I see that the Dodgers lost? Sorry Gary.

Just glad to see things getting going!

Sweetcaroline 04-08-2009 04:54 PM

Love the letter Bill... a suite for the Sweet... the perfect address indeed.

OK Pear and Bill you are next on the list to get to a game... didn't we have a couple of other Sox fans here ?

Diane !! Was that the opener ?

EZ, Do we play you this season, I didn't see it on the schedule, but heard rumors..

I just watched a 'replay' of yesterdays game, do most local sports stations offer this ? ...

Gotta go... game starts at 7pm :corn:

I promise not to be this obnoxious all season

Slashnl 04-08-2009 05:04 PM

Sweetcaroline: You are not obnoxious!! You're excited!! It is, after all, baseball season!

That was the Rockies second game. They lost the first one, so they are 1-1. They are playing their third game right now. I looked and it is tied.

PearFreak 04-08-2009 05:41 PM

Ahh, Caroline, you are too sweet. I am glad to hear you all giddy about the game. I've got to live through someone who's been there... to the opening game mind you. I'll let you know if we end up going to a game. Dh always has something up his sleeves, and he's been talking a lot about going to see them.

Chele615 04-08-2009 06:05 PM

Caroline....I loved reading about your day at Fenway!! I love that place so much! I don't know when my Fenway game is yet....my dad shares season tickets with some friends of his and I usually get to go to one of the games a year with my dad.

Although my daughter is true BLUE through and through (to her daddy and our DODGERS)...her :p husband :p is a padre fan as you may remember...if she was "FORCED" to watch them play she would root for Khalil...that hair ain't going nowhere!

SWEET-C I think the Sox...red ones...are the only one of our TEAM 3FC here that the Dodgers don't play....bummer

I just watched a 'replay' of yesterdays game, do most local sports stations offer this ? ...

Sometimes the padres channel here does.

Watching the Rays and Sox here...sorry SWEET-C and BILL....still a few innings...

Clydegirl 04-08-2009 10:13 PM

Caroline our fox sports midwest replays the games at least once.

Not liking this one tonight. Wellemyer was pretty bad.

JuliaDH 04-08-2009 10:18 PM

Being from Ontario...I cheer for the Blue Jays. But it was hard concentrating on the opening game with a snow storm out. And tonights game just sucked. I have big hope and faith in Mr. Cito Gaston. Please Coach whip this team into shape! I want to take my kids to a game they will remember as awesome. Not just over paid ninnies!

Sweetcaroline 04-09-2009 12:50 AM

:kickcan: O boy... here we go.. Boston lost 7-2 to the 'Rays'.. that a rough one... I think Tampa is going to be a thorn in the you-know-what all season.

---------------------------------------------------------------

OT... Please pray for the captain and crew of the Maersk Alabama, a US cargo ship hijacked today off the coast of east Africa. This could turn bad...

BillBlueEyes 04-09-2009 04:10 AM

Ouch

Ouch that the Rays came back to life and took the Red Sox.

If was fun, for a day, to be tied for first place, LOL.

EZMONEY 04-09-2009 08:27 AM

Went to bed when we were up 5-2....glad I woke up to that and no surprises....although my son did call at 10pm...

"sorry to wake you dad but she made the Chargers Girls again!"...oh and the Dodgers are still up by 3....

Clydegirl 04-09-2009 12:37 PM

Sad news today. Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was among the 3 people killed in a car accident last night.

Slashnl 04-09-2009 01:08 PM

Sorry, Clydegirl, about the tragedy. I'm not familiar with him, but that's a tough thing to have happen anyway.

Rockies had a good night again.

Sweetcaroline 04-09-2009 01:30 PM

I just saw that story, very sad, press says he pitched just hours before he was killed... boy, you never know...

PearFreak 04-09-2009 01:53 PM

I saw the story about the accident on yahoo. So sad.

Bummer the Sox didn't win, but taking it a positive way and saying it is only the beginning of the season, so we still have a chance. Not that RS need a chance, us RS Fans know they are good.

Clydegirl 04-09-2009 04:25 PM

A really nice win for Chris Carpenter today. Gave up just one hit.

Sweetcaroline 04-09-2009 05:45 PM

I hope they keep it up Clydegirl...

As for 'our' Sox... another painful loss, .. I think Big Papi is missing Manny..

It's still so early in the season, but windows are open and I could hear my neighbors cheering and yelling like it was a playoff game... crazy RS nation...

We are headed to LA to play the Angels, I don't know what to expect there given the loss they had today of that young pitcher... We'll see...

He had pitched a game just a few hours before he was killed. The fact that this 22 year old was killed is tragic enough but this a hit and run. I did hear that they have located the person that caused this horrendous accident

EZMONEY 04-09-2009 06:47 PM

My son called me at work at 6:30am to tell me about Adenhart...I was sick all day. They caught the creep that did it..on a suspended license for drunk driving....

DODGERS have blown a 2 run lead in the bottom of the 8th....somehow it doesn't seem all that important today.

Leon Hall a local boy and casual friend of my son's plays for the Cincinnati Bengals....was arrested Sunday night for drunk driving....when will they learn?

Sweetcaroline 04-09-2009 09:16 PM

EZ... It must be horrible out there, as we feel it here as well.. the Scott Boras press conference had me in tears.. Please keep us posted on how this young man is honored and how the fans are handling all of this.

And you are right some never learn... Was that creep drunk when he hit them ?

EZMONEY 04-09-2009 09:59 PM

SWEET-C and TEAM 3FC...here is the espn link to the young man's tradgedy...

Sweetcaroline 04-10-2009 12:21 AM

Thanks... All I was finding was the headlines with little info..

Clydegirl 04-10-2009 12:52 PM

We are going to the game tonight against the Astros. However at the moment it's pouring rain, has been since yesterday afternoon.

It looks like it should clear, fingers crossed.
