How do you know that the HRT caused it? If someone is attributing cervical cancer to HRT, they are not up on any current research. It has been known for years that HPV is primarily the chief agent of dysplastic changes in cervical cells. No research would support the assumption that HRT causes cervical cancer. You can google this yourself and read the research.

while HRT does not cause cervical cancer there are many other problems associated with HRT. My gyn is a gem and will not recommend it.

Can't wait for this to happen!!

I am considered in perimenopause and if this is a taste of what's to come I'm in big trouble!!

Another symptom I have is weight gain in my stomach. I can lose it everywhere else but not there. I read once that is our body's way of preparing itself for menopause.
I just wish the weight would go somewhere else - like my boobs!!

I'm not one for HRT and hope I never have to resort to it. I prefer alternative treatments - you know the kind you get out of a liquor cabinet!

Dr. Pamela Peeke calls it the "menopot". She says you can't get totally rid of it, but you should be proud of it. My doctor said you can't work it off, can't get rid of it with liposuction, but that you need to have a tummy tuck to get rid of it. Yeah, if I could just win the lottery too!

I'll have that with by breast lift please!

I will be 45 this summer. I started going thru perimenopause about 1.5 years ago. I've never had children, and doc told me that women who don't have children are apt to go thru it sooner in life than those who have had children. She gave me b/c pills, and it took care of EVERYTHING, including my return-to-puberty skin, which wanted to break out ALL the time... Ugh!

But then... after being on the pill awhile, I developed PE. "Pulmonary Embolism" - blood clots in my lungs. I nearly died. But after a hospital stay & being on some major meds for 6.5 months, I am now clear & deemed "healthy" again.

However, the past few months have been crazy with the PMSy symptoms like cramping, headaches, backaches, etc... but also some new funzies...
such as hot flashes
mood swings
night sweats
loss of libido
weight gain
insomina
joint pain
mental foggy brain etc.

And because of my blood clots, I can never ever have anything with estrogen again. No replacement hormone therapy, etc. I thought I was doomed to be this uncomfortable UNTIL IT WAS OVER... which can take YEARSSSSSS.....

BUT THANK GOD... a friend told me about a website that is operated by WOMEN doctors, for women - it's ALL NATURAL - and OMG I am soooo glad I went to that website! I am on their "personal program" and I feel SOOOO much better. I can't praise it enough! The website is womentowomen.com and it's chock full of information about perimenopause & menopause - & it's for ALL AGES - because some women go thru it very early (I have a 28yo friend who had to have a full hysterectomy who is going thru it now) and some in regular time... some have a multitude of symptoms... some only have a few... some last a year or so, & others last 10+ years!!!! -but PLEASE believe me.... this website is WORTH a visit.

Good luck to you all!!! Remember... WE ARE WOMEN... HEAR US ROAR!

I went to this website and took the personal assessment. The program recommended for me would cost about $80 a month. That's way too expensive for me. Interesting site to read stuff but I can't pay that much for supplements.

After I first visited the site, I thought about it... then I thought the same thing: "Nope, too expensive" but I kept going to the site & reading. The friend who told me about the site had already been on the program for about a month & talking to her is what convinced me IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY. My health is WORTH EVERY PENNY. I cannot tell you how much better I feel since I've been on the program. Hot flashes? None. Night sweats? Nope! Mood swings? Practically non-existant! And this very stubborn fat that doesn't want to go away even tho I AM doing EVERYTHING right? (diet, exercise, etc.) I look for it to be moving along, too.

$80/mo. That's only $20/week. I canceled my local paper subscription, & dumped my home phone (hubby & I both have cells) - so affording it was just a matter of priorities for me. And for me - this is WORTH EVERY PENNY.
